The tool is commonly called a "peg winder". My favorite version of this tool is a bit with a removable crank. The bit fits into a standard electric screw driver. The knot your using on the treble strings is called a figure 8 knot. I've played steel string acoustics for more than 50 years. I just bought a Requinto with as 12 hole bridge. I was careful to not cut the original strings when I changed them so I could see exactly how it was done. I have watched a few different videos on changing classical strings and I'm confident that I did well. The string are still stretching, but they are holding the tuning well at this point.
When tightening the strings on the rollers at the headstock the most important item seems to that the path from the roller to the nut is as straight as possible - not rubbing on another string or having a poor break angle at the nut. This will determine whether the string on the roller goes medial or lateral - the tone can change. I have reviewed about twenty RUclips videos (most somewhat different) but rather rarely does one bring both aspects out; each talks about the guitar being demonstrated. This would naturally imply that each guitar might require a slightly different method to maximize its sound. Thank you.
I thought Johnny Sins pursued classical guitar after being in different professions. lol! But seriously, this is one of the best string changing method I've learned. Thank you!
Back when I started, in the 1980s, the rule was to take them off and replace one at a time so that there wasn’t a release of total tension on the neck. But now I see everybody taking them all off at once. Was this actually a thing? If so, when did it change?
Indeed, some people do! (I don't.)That is addressed in the full version of the video, which will be posted as a lesson on tonebase. Become a member to watch the full video.
Ha ha this dude belongs to the dreaded rasgueado lot - just kidding, a guitar is intended to be played on and I must say I like his friendly approach. In addition, he relies on friction 100%, with veeery tight tolerances - a pro indeed, made me glad!
The only thing I do differently is to tape a piece of cardboard behind the bridge. If the strings snaps it will not damage your guitar. I learned this the hard way.
Comments on this video are trash. People complain way too much about nothing. No one forced you to watch the video 🤦🏻♂️ Informative video for those who might need it

I suggest after taking off the bass or treble side, that you take a rag with a mild cleaner to clean the fret board.

Some of us aren’t doing it enough. Very true.
Can't believe that I have sat here
for half an hour watching a guy
telling me how to change the strings
on a Guitar....Wow!

Lots of players take one string at a time saying that if you don't it affects the tension on the top of your instrument.

What is the optimal amount of string wrapped around the post, if any?
Thank you so much . Such a great channel needs more high quality ( professional) videos
I also tie each string into each other at the bridge starting with the base string. That way they will never slip.
Why don't you use beads for the bridge end? They improve the break angle and are very easy to use.
string ties works very well..
And don't forget to clean the fretboard once a year at least...🙄
Thank you

Lol same here. SMACK!
I use paper tape. Don't wanna scratch the french polish, not even with the ends rubbing against it.
Me to. One's nails are a hazard.

I hate the gimmicky end (of the string) as well, I actually cut it out
you are a guitarist version of Johnny Sin
Waste of time
Why is he wearing a lab coat though lmao
Please dude Don't wear that coat, you look like the doctor who treated MIA
Respectfully, if you can't distinguish between a shirt and a coat, I'm not exactly inclined to take your fashion advice.
@@mirceagogoncea seriously I don't understand fashion, but that was a very beautiful sarcasm you don't understand
