It doesn't seem illogical to think that a tidally locked planet couldn't support life at all. If I were to imagine a tidally locked planet with life on it, I think it would form a ring around the planet along the edge of the sunlight, on the bridge point between the scorchingly volcanic day side and the frozen night side.

I actually did some math in school, the energy earth creates while spinning, even for a fraction of a second, can power the entire planet for 7 years
so if the Earth stop spinning there would still be 31806949580849 years (or more) until the power turns off
