    And to be clear, no one’s claiming of collapse or hyperbolic events. But to deny that depopulation is not a systemic issue for a country the size and disjoined in its demographic makeup are being disingenuous.

    I like to compare China now with Germany in the late 19th - early 20th century. Upcoming industrial power vs old power (England, France), nationalism, bad economy. Both are advancing technology and industries at faster rate than the incumbant power, despite economic problems. Very scary if not carefully managed.

      @ivancho5854 29 дней назад

      But what data did that paper use? The Chinese lie hugely all the time. In part it's to save face, in part because it's a Communist country and also because the regions get allocated funds on the basis of their population. I've heard Peter Zeihan say that they've over counted their population by roughly 100 million and they're all under 40! If true, and I'm more inclined to believe Zeihan than the world's biggest liars the CCP, this means that the tailwind is completely over.

    China built their economy and outsource manufacturing primarily to the United States. Everything else was based on real estate that's been in a bubble for a decade, and predatory lending to the third world... Who can't afford to pay them back😂😂😂.
    Now the US is moving manufacturing to Mexico, and for the past 2 years Red Sea traffic has been cut in half by the houthis.
    China never had a system bill that would create a robust middle class. You simply cannot do that with a command economy.

      The West brought China into the world economy, and the USA makes it possible for China to import oil from the Middle East, and export goods to the wider world, without the Chinese having to field a blue water navy to protect their shipping. If the West didn't want China to succeed, then they would have not been helping them build their economy for the past 40 years. It was a major win-win for China and the West. What the West wants is an open and honest China that doesn't threaten territorial expansion and oppress it's citizens, not a failing China. A failed China can destabilize the world economy, and an expansionist China could cause much worse.

    • @rockmusic175

      @scottduncan92 China has been a super power before n didn't threaten anyone, you can find and nation colonized by China that's the prove. You can't find a coup sponsored by China that's the second and you can't find one exploited by China, China has no military base outside it's territory except in 1 in Djibouti. Can you say the same of the west?. And US in particular. US is afraid fair trade practices and a strong China or Russia will demand for fairness. Welcome to the world of BRICS
