Merci beaucoup , tysytubes🤗💪👍😘
another restorer in 75 years... "someone poured resin in here before..."
LLLLOOOOLLLL.
Great one.
😂
mari jones it's a display piece now, not a tool. Why would anyone be restoring it in 75 years...?
Papà Pasghetti Dude, It’s just a joke. You must have zero sense of humor.
Is it weird I was thinking the same thing that the next person to restore this would be chipping at the resin trying to get it off... XD
I prefer the original.
Who am I kidding? That sir is a piece of art.
I wouldn't have the heart to use such a beautiful tool
You wouldn't have nuts big enough to use that tool!!!
Was useable Now unusable. Too big to play with your nuts thats for sure. 😁
I can legitimately say that's the most beautiful wrench I've ever seen ✨
I'm guessing most people like you have never seen a wrench. Or worked with one. Or worked.
@@ryanfreeman125 I only do my own handiwork, and help my dad do his.
Pretty rude to assume something based off of someone's appearance.
I'm just capable of appreciating beautiful things.
@@ryanfreeman125 that's rude and prejudiced
It's kinda amazing we can find beauty in thing we didn't expect to look so beautiful like when I was impressed by how beautiful a unfired high caliber round looked.
This turned out so gorgeous. I love the deep blue color!
That Hammerite with the clear resin was a stroke of genius! It's too pretty to actually use now. 😊
taytase....what would anyone want to use it on? I mean, that's a specialized tool and I can't think of any application for it...
That is the highest praise I give, "Too pretty to use!"
Most of the stuff he restores is too pretty to use.
I was watching a My mechanics video and then I Saw a gift you gave to him, a french lamp to restore, I'm so happy now it was like a crossover
I’m curious when you and my mechanics will do a collaboration.
What if they are the same person? 🧐
Dakota LaBarr I have considered that but they both seem to use slightly different techniques and vastly different tools. Unless it’s an elaborate hoax or something. In either case clever AF. I do sense that tystube is picking up some skills from my mechanics.
@@jamesklebenow6885 brothers maybe?
Dakota LaBarr maybe... but tysytube is French and my mechanics is Swiss I think? They do have very similar logos though so it’s a possibility...
“Mirror Mirror... Wrench Restoration” by my mechanics looks a bit like his hand from the thumbnail of both videos, maybe im crazy but the way the hold the wrench is very similar i dont know though, lol
Anyone else’s heart skip a beat with the file getting so close to that beautiful paint job on the vise?
Frankly, I was more concerned that the vise (both of them, actually) weren't either bolted or clamped to the workbench.
My hear broke when he started to file it
I swear, when you asked what you should do about the handle, I immediately thought about those keychains with the enamel inlays! It looks awesome; great job as usual!
I must admit I started to shake my head and say "no, no.. no.. no paint please!" but when I saw how the resin turned out.. wow, really nice. Good job, sir!
Usually I hate the sound of metal against metal, but that sound of the brush in the beginning was just beautiful!
I like what you did with the epoxy. Really brought all the hard work together. Made the whole project uniform.
Only thing I would have done different was to add a hole at the end of the handle so it could be hung. But overall, magnificent work!
5:03 I respect the shoutout to another great in the game
Andrew O'Hara Hammerite!
touch of class there
Jeeezuss, I thought I was good at spending time on “rabbit hole” repair projects, but this guy is on a whole nother level!
Absolutely perfect restoration!!!! the Blue Epoxy!!! WONDERFUL.
In the American vernacular, this tool is called an "Alligator Wrench", because of it's 'gator-like jaws.
Stanley Thigpen what type of job would this ALLIGATOR WRENCH be used for? Looks like threaded pipe perhaps? It seems unwieldy and the type of tool for a specific job and result. If you know or have better ideas than mine anyone I would be interested in that reply.
@@extraSPARErib An alligator wrench is used for repairing giant mechanical alligators, obviously.
Pipe fitters wrench used on boiler pipes locomotive mechanics used them often on air and steam lines
Jeffery Rouell thanks Jeff!
@@extraSPARErib yeah mostly for pipes, they've made a few small ones with square and rounded teeth for hex nuts like the robo-wrench and versa-claw but they're not very good
Amazing dude
Hi from Russia 🇷🇺
A beautiful restoration! You’ve created a fully functional piece of hand tool jewelry! (Next time, maybe a TysyTube logo under the clear epoxy.) Keep doing what you do!
NOOOOO!!! Putting logos everywhere is going full Diresta! Awful!!
I've got about 73 projects on my bench right now but as soon as I finish them and the other projects I'm working on ..yeah....this definitely on the list.
> 2 hours to sandblast
UPLOAD THE W H O L E T H I N G
I knew someone would complain about that. ;))
I like how he does videos, He could probably have a 2nd channel for uncut videos for you nutcases. Lol
I second that
Cause his paint stripper was shyte. And he was too wimpy with the brass brush.
It's too pretty now, you can't use it!
I grew up on an old cattle ranch in the mountains of New Mexico. We had hundreds of old tools.... I have no idea what happened to them after we sold the land. I with I could have sent the lot to you. Most were from 1870-1950. As always, another job well done!!! Thank you
The polished silver color and the dark blue in the handle is the best color combination I've seen in a while.
i'm happy to know that i'm not the only one who got an under-powered bench grinder.
Needs a new start capacitor if it's not spinning up.
I would give up at the sandblasting part, so the fact that you have restored things so many times means you are really determined to finish your work!
Absolute genius. The blue under color and clear epoxy is practical as well as nice looking. Handle stiff Now.
These restorations are fantastic to watch, love "Em, metal wood sand blasting, hammering. Electroplating,,,,! All done calmly with the joy of working and restoring something shines or wooden or just amazing
No judgement just enjoyment. Fun!
You can make a grown man cry. Well done my friend.
Dude I've been turning wrenches for 27 years. I got it all snap on, Mac , Matco. That wrench is awesome. I would probably make a shifter out it on my 70 chevelle. Nice freaking work.
Danke for restoring that fine old wrench. No real man could throw that in a scrap-heap!
TysyTube: Does not look too good. I hope a can make something for it My mechanics: This wrench is too damaged. I'll make a new one :D
I never thought for a moment it would look this nice. I bet it wasn't that good looking when it was new.
How to turn a huge rusty old spanner into a work of art!!
Excellent restoration.
I like blue and shiny things. It's no longer a tool but a decoration for your wall.
I love that resin idea, it reminds me of a basing style I use on miniatures and its great
[Barreled Squid] My Dad is teaching me to paint his LORD OF THE RINGS miniatures and something I think is sad and made him angry was that a lot of his paints are non revivable and some of his inks he bought them for his miniatures especially and all of the paints were hundreds of $ and he also has metal miniatures
The most beautiful restoration ever!)
Absolutely amazing. I love mirror finishes. Fantastic job.
The epoxy resin adds a huge amount of interest and really sets this apart from other, less inspired restorations. Beautifully done
Yes not only did you wet sand, you brought back the ALMIGHTY HAMMERITE paint. Best day ever
Too pretty to use, coffee table center piece at a automotive office maybe.
Beautiful job. The epoxy resin was an unexpected and perfect touch.
Glad to see a return to paint stripper instead of just sand-blasting. Process and procedure.
For some reason I thought of Dr Zoidberg when I first saw it...
Futurama ?
Cheryl Hartwig yeah haha
"Why not Zoidberg?"
I think my only fear is when the handle flexes under strain that the resin would pop out of the handle. . ?
By the size of it i dont think anyone do that to it. And it would be a really weird case if that happens. All depends on the owners use
It used to be a work tool. Kind of like a Hummer used to be a workhorse for the military. But now the Hummer is decked out with 25" chrome rims and a deep, high-gloss metallic blue paint job. That wrench is now destined to hang on the garage wall like a trophy. Not too different from the yuppie soccer mom who takes the kids to school in that pimped-out Hummer.
It is really cool lookin' though.
100%
It’s just a toy now, so no danger of that.
Have you ever held a 10' wrench?, the only wrench i've ever flexed was one of those tiny open and boxed ended wrenches
I love sandblasting. It's so gratifying and therapeutic!
Well THAT turned out better than expected. Fantastic JOB
"I don't know what to do inside, any ideas?"
Me: Resin?
Moment later...
Me: ...NO WAY... O_o
He did it and it's awesome.
it’s also in the title
@@danieltykhovlis5935 yeah, was not in the first place. You know titles can be changed?
@@aliceinclockworks except it was 🤷♂️
I had an idea that I thought was good enough to at least mention, in case you might find it viable.
You could create another channel, or maybe just a separate series on this channel, where you post the raw footage of sandblasting. I find it extremely therapeutic, & would definitely watch it, even (especially) long videos, like the 2 hours sandblasting this piece.
Just an idea, as I said, do with it what you will.
Anyway, great video!
Keep up the good work, your projects are much appreciated.
good idea 🤔, thank you 😊
Is there a society for us? Sandblastiacs Anonymous and Tysy is the dealer who supplies us with the goods... hours and hours of sandblasting videos... :)
I'd subscribe to that! Brilliant idea!
bigmacro Perhaps it falls to us to start one. It all begins here. If not now, when? If not us, who?
Sandblastiacs (Blastoholics?) Unite!
taytase I thought the concept might have legs. I’m glad you agree!
That is absolutely magnificent. Congratulations. You should keep doing restorations like this and sell them to people as trophies. A spanner like this mounted on a wooden block would be far nicer to receive than a silver cup. Keep up the great work. I just love your videos.
Outstanding, I'll steal that epoxy trick if I ever get the chance to! You really restore things to better than factory condition, these are works of art.
That moment when it’s so rusty you have a hard time sandblasting it
I could've watched the whole two hours of sandblasting.
"What should I do with the middle?"
Looks like we had the same idea about the enamel fill, but the epoxy was a perfect touch.
Never stop trying new things. This was excellent
Very Cool restoration on this Huge Wrench !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
"guy restores ancient alien weapon used to enslave humanity"
For the inside you could also try some japanning next time.
😕 japanning is complicated and kinda boring looking ( black only ) imo , and just looks like uneven black paint ( it's a skill to get right ) , not a fan , however Tysy release a video I watch cos I am a fan of him ( this channel ) ( I'm not creepy, I promise )
Finally another channel that is on my mechanics level
The clear resin was a really nice touch! It came out great!!
Now it looks like a pimp's wrench.
He forgot to add glitter.
Leverage keeps the pimp hand strong :D
All pimps need to have their nuts really tight. I'll get my coat. 😬
@@2H80vids LOL.
Next reality show: “Pimp my ‘rench!”
Nice!! I really like the resin. Going to try it out this weekend.
Probably the most simple yet most beautiful piece of your channel so far. Absolutely gorgeous idea, wonderfully executed. Thanks for sharing.
I was scrolling a bit distracted…. Then there it was…. Epoxy! Very cool finished wrench.
This looks like one of those giant wrenchs used in cartoons all the time...
No those in cartoons are called stillsons
@@aleksandrsloskutovs5524 Can you explain what a stilson is? they sound interesting
oh! this tool is no longer needed in a garage.perhaps in a dentist's. genius!!!👍👍
Okay, you need a tooth extracted. But you don't want to pay my fee!
I have the PERFECT solution for you!
*WHANG!*
No charge! Catharsis is PRICELESS!
This is a beautiful piece great job the epoxy inlay is a perfect match with the polished metal
Now a complete set of these would look pretty special, in a nice blingy case.👍
Alligator wrench, we use them when we want to remove the camshaft out of an engine :-D
you forgot to use it on something :O
like bash a watermelon or something, that's what it's meant to be used for right ? ^_^
Or bash your enemy's head? Just sayin'!
@@The_Beast_666 cause thats what you do in the commonwealth, right?
@@The_Beast_666 lol i like that idea cause it is a battle wrench after all
No, it’s for roasting marshmallows
I have never seen a wrench that huge in my life! Wow! I was very impressed with the sand blaster removing all the black stuff, too. Incredible!
It would be an awesome idea if you could make an episode on the things you've restored like this. Take us to a tour like that please. ❤❤
Me: How many polishing do you need?
Tysy: Yes
I had to unsub so I could subscribe again!
Amazing work as always. The blue on the handle was superb.
1:25 - my favourite part ❤
Sometimes i like to watch before sleeping or when i wake up, drinking my coffee, because it's very relaxing and all the work is done so carefully...
Congrats again! Amazing!
Good call on the Resin. Love it!!!
"Should I stop here" he asks... Lol. Any long time watcher of this channel knows better than that... Tysy doesn't stop until the job is done. 🛠️🔧🔩🗜️
For the middle part: i love the idea with Hammerite and epoxy, but how about you add a plate with your name, logo and date of restoration? either way i love what you have done with this wrench :)
ASMR visual and auditory.... Perfect.
I have a suggestion :)
For things like this I can’t remember if you have done it before , but I really enjoy seeing the before weight of a item and how much was taken off from sanding, and even in some circumstances how much it’s gained from new paint or other finishes, I find it really helps understand how the item has changed :)
I love your work please keep posting and I we’ll keep watching,
P.sI laugh a bit when RUclips recommends other restore videos and I go “ eww that’s not TYSY , “ haha.
"Should I stop here?"
*Seven additional minutes of footage remain*
TysyTube: What to do inside?
Me: WAKE ME UP!
I think the treatment in the handle turned out brilliantly! Well done.
Turned a wrench into art. Amazing!
You've been watching My Mechanics. I see his techniques on what you're doing.
Beautiful! I love what you did with the inset! Just out of curiosity, did you consider putting even more resin in each side, so that it would slightly dome? Do you think that would help or hinder the user's grip?
Your channel has inspired me to tackle my restoration project. I have some bolt cutters I found stuck in the mud while paddling on a bayou near me. Very muddy and so rusty it wont budge, but with some WD40 a socket set and a wire bush I should be able to get it to working condition.
Cool tool. I have an adjustable wrench which came from a 1960's Volvo. One end is your typical adjustable wrench, the other end is a V slot, one face of the V is flat, the other is serrated like this wrench.
pleeeeeeaaaaase mount that vise, you wont regret it
Might need to adjust your pot if it's purging like that
That turned out awesome! Love the blue and epoxy.
Good inspiration in choosing color! 👍🏻
What kind of oil do u use for the protection from rust
..great wrench resto., it can also be used for home defence..lol..
The design was exactly what I was thinking!
I just want to know how somebody watches this and dislikes it? nice job!!!
¡Oh, my God!....it's a"little" big...
It's brilliant work of course, but I'm beginning to wonder whether some of these videos (from most restoration channels) aren't going over the top. If you make a tool into an art installation you make it worthless as a tool because nobody will want to use it.
I agree with you. In the mean time, let's think that the "restoration" is just for fun. ;))
That was the most attractive restoration yet.
The epoxy idea was actually really smart!!
