I started learning this character recently and comparing Zawa's combos with Hishigata, it appears to me Hishigata's do more damage, and he has better mixup. You say that Hishigata is not incorporating the new tools but don't specify what exactly he is doing that would be considered suboptimal now.
Emillll, I did not say that he is doing what is now considered suboptimal. I just said that the footage in this video from ver. 3.11 does not incorporate important tools added to her game. These would include the 6B fireball launch, the addition of increased versions to both her fireballs, her increased 5C, her 3C special jump cancel, the ability to CS dashing B and dashing C on whiff--the list goes on. As for the combos, I am not truly a Nanase player so I didn't know if the routes in this video still worked currently (and another confirmed that they indeed work, they are just tight executionally). I definitely agree that Hishigata's Nanase is the better one, however given Zawa's higher activity on the character along with his recent rise to the 3rd rank Nanase, I usually took cues from his footage. But both have contributed equally useful and optimal routes generally speaking.
No, you can switch to standing guard before the dive itself hits. Sometimes Nanase will switch sides when the dive isn't CSed afterwards (but really it isn't good to go for 214X -> X without 100 EXS or Vorpal).
Yeah technically it's unsafe but more or less you have to be ready to punish it if you're blocking. It's hard to call out on reaction unless there's some level of expectation for them to do it.
