@@BasicBodThor LOL meanwhile, guys like Shannon Sharpe and Chris Canty are out here telling anyone who’ll listen that we need to hold Burrow accountable for his turnovers (all 14 of them, vs 45 total TD’s). They’ll suggest that those turnovers were just as detrimental to the Bengals missing the playoffs as their AWFUL defense, AWFUL special teams, and bad offensive line play (48 sacks surrendered). Most games lost in a season when scoring 30+: the 2024 Bengals. Meanwhile, Burrow was by FAR the biggest reason why a team so flawed was so competitive against nearly every opponent they faced, and finished the season 9-8 with a chance at the playoffs in the final week of the season.
I agree on the ref point, but him "choking" is an exaggerated point that's too often made in marque matchups between QBs. In the two years you referenced his kicker and this year his TE didn't make plays in scenarios where in both scenarios said players were in advantageous positions. For example, In the 13 second game If Butker misses the game tying FG or If Kelce drops the huge passes that put them in range, did Mahomes "choke" in those situations??
@@Invader135 he blew the pass protection line call on the play that ended the game. Mahomes got more yards on the drive killing the clock than Allen got on the drive to win the game. If that’s not choking, what is?
3:11 Joe Burrow is the one that always gets left out of this convo. It’s always “well his defense let him down” or the old “well he beat Patrick Mahomes” in arrowhead now 4 years ago. He didn’t make the playoffs in back to back seasons. Name a top 3 quarterback that is allowed to do that and skirts by criticism. Lamar, Josh or Patrick can’t do that.
You get a pass for missing the playoffs in an injury year, but that second one should be fully on him. And is weird that people are making it sound like they had the worst defense in the history of the NFL, they weren't even bottom 5, and were actually top10 generating turnovers. Point being, they were BAD, that's undeniable, but it wasn't some impossible to overcome type of bad, particularly in a year with a 4th place schedule and Cleveland crumbling in their own division. Heck, as it has been repeated ad nauseum, had they beaten New England in week 1 they walk into the playoffs, no questions asked.
Dude when you throw for the most yards and TDs on a season and the offence puts up 25+ a game and you cannot make the playoffs because your defence is soo bad, yes that is a NUANCE to the game of football and not a Joe Burrow thing
I live about an hour outside Chicago and remember the 90s Bulls. I also grew up in KC and have been a fan of the Chiefs and Royals. The difference is that in the 90s people. were more common sense, were not deep into conspiracy theories and were generally better people. They were normal and decent. Now you have people wallowing in conspiracy theories over everything. They are rude, cranky and nasty. Extremely. negative and seem to always look for something to hate. Common sense and critical thinking and being normal has gone out the window. In the 90s people who succeeded or did something good or were well verse in something, a pro or expert were accepted and applauded. People knew the more you were educated the better it was and the more you learned your craft or area of interest, the more experience you had it was better for society. So Jordan was a hero because he was naturally gifted, experienced and well versed in his craft of sports. And people loved him for succeeding in his sport. Be Like Mike. Today, if you are well trained or educated, if you know alot, if you are gifted like Mahomes, if youn are positive or normal, have common sense then that is rejected. A team cannot be successful and brilliant. Well trained. Have top coaching. It's all about conspiracies. A guy like Mahomes cannot be so good. There is a plot to make him good. A team that has gone repeatedly to playoffs and won 3 Super Bowls are not that good. Not like other teams. This nonsense by analysts just play into the conspiracy thinking of the people of today. And some even hype it up. The analysts never believed in the Chiefs from day one. There had to be something else because the Chiefs are not like the Bills or whatever team they are enamored of that year. Mahomes cannot be so good when Analysts repeated fawn over Allen and Jackson and Burrows. All that just pushes the hatred for this team.
This is not true. There were the same hot takes about jordan. There just wasn't the internet to spread them as fast. There were rumors and conspiracies about him giving signed shoes to refs, etc. You are looking back at the Bulls run with rose tinted glasses. People in the 90's weren't normal and decent. We lived in very different versions of the 90's. Rodney King was beaten in 1991. Columbine Shooting happened in 1999. Those are the bookends of the 90's with a bunch of other terrible stuff between. People weren't "generally better, normal and decent".
@@KuntaKillmonger Maybe it's the internet. Maybe its people were better back then. Or maybe it's just the style in which teams are winning is what matters? People didnt like the way the spurts played and so they weren't liked. They weren't hated but people just didnt watch. They watched the patriots because NFL is king but hated them. @@PatD-e5othat's literally the definition of an opinion. Dan knows his shit! RUclips commenters really need to stop trying to diminish forever athletes now in the media based on their playing career.
You can’t simultaneously hold these two opinions: 1. Mahomes is the best football player we’ve ever seen at the QB position and will end his career as the GOAT. 2. All these other QBs are choke artists because they can’t beat Mahomes. Lamar is one of the greatest regular season QBs we’ve ever seen - the MVP is a regular season award - makes sense for him to win a bunch of them. Look at Mahomes’ SB stats - they’re not great… 85.2 passer rating, 7 TDs to 5 INTs… he’s beat Garoppolo, Hurts and Purdy - all QBs that Nick doesn’t rate. Wins are a TEAM STAT, not a QB stat. Mahomes is great but let’s not act like he’s doing this all himself. He’s had multiple HOF teammates and a HOF head coach all his career.
Mahomes has had 1.5 bad playoff games. His stats in the other 3 super bowls combined are 8 total tds, 3 ints, and a 103 rating. And he got even better when his hof receiver left. I agree it’s a team sport because the 1 bad sb his entire line was decimated, but when he has even a moderately competent team he is statistically the best qb ever. Nobody is calling the other qbs choke artists, but they also shouldn’t get a pass. You didn’t give Mahomes a pass for the Bucs sb.
@Grtgooglymoogly1 I mean, if you take out Lamar’s bad playoff games, I guess he’s been excellent in the playoffs lol Lamar’s my favourite player but I take the good with the bad and believe he can get there one day with the level of talent he has. Mahomes is already there. Already cemented himself as a top 3 QB of all time. But the stats are the stats. You can’t just excuse his bad games and ignore who he’s had to beat.
You’re exactly who Nick is talking about when he says we’ve over corrected 😂😂 Lamar has 13 TDs to 11 turnovers with a 77 rating in the playoffs. Yes wins are a team stat, but Lamar’s poor play is a MASSIVE reason why the TEAM lost…lol The most insane thing is, those Mahomes SB numbers, that you think aren’t great, are still BETTER THAN LAMARS total playoff numbers, from earlier rounds vs easier teams 😂😂😂😂 Mahomes numbers in those earlier rounds are 42 TD 3 INT with a rating in the 130s lmfao Like what are u even talking about??
Now do Mahomes' entire playoff stats. Games that are pretty important to you know, getting to and winning SBs. Who are the QBs Mahomes has beaten? He is a combined 6-1 against Lamar, Burrow, and Allen. The three QBs most would consider top 4-5 in the league.
dont worry. as Chiefs fans know the worst kinds of disappointment and heartbreak, we enjoy every minute of this. including being the villian and all the hate. 3:00 This is what I’m talking about. I’ll give you this game. Allen didn’t play his best game. He had a chance to win/tie the game and fell one TE drop short. Last year he did exactly what Maholmes did this year. Took his team down to field goal range. Difference was one made his FG, one didn’t. You’re so adamant in propping Maholmes, and putting elite QBs like Jackson, Burrow, Allen below him is cringy. Maholmes is an elite QB with the best HC/OC,DC, and top 5 GM. Maholmes deserves to be the top dog. He earned it. But to say he’s head, and shoulders above the other 3 is an obnoxious opinion.
Last year if Bass makes that field goal, KC wins that game. There was 1:33 left and multiple timeouts for Mahomes to get the game winning field goal. Allen needed to get a touchdown to even have a prayer - which he did miss a WIDE OPEN touchdown five feet in front of the receiver. And the drop by the TE this year was not a gimme catch. It wasn’t recorded as a drop. And Allen shouldn’t have been in such a desperate 4th & 5 after completely botching the 1st and 2nd down plays.
@ Brother I’m not talking about if Maholmes would’ve driven down the field and scored. I’ve seen him do that. I’m saying that both drives ended in a field goal attempt. One made it one missed it. But hey, that’s Allen’s fault. Allen played a B+ game. He needed an A+ game. He looked overwhelmed the first series. I can objectively say that. The missed td you’re talking about was that your HOF to be DT manhandled Dawkins. Barreled him into Allen. Making the throw difficult. They lost. Y’all fans are quick to point out Allen’s, Jackson’s, and Burrow’s mistakes. When Maholmes had 3 mistakes. One that coast him 7 points. No one is talking about that. Why? Because he drove the team down to Fg range. Kicker did his job. And the defense that has 2 all pros, and arguably the best DC made a stop. But nah. I guess that’s not true.
Mahomes is clearly far better than the next three quarterbacks. He is on GOAT trajectory and he is not even 30. The other 3 can only stand back and admire his wizardry with a football.
Nick Wright is the greatest sports commentator ever in the US. He should cover Real Madrid in his show, though. Just saying. No one else, just us and I'll be happy.

With Cav-GSW it was all LeBron and Steph, because nobody gave a crap about those teams before. How about Giannis, whose team was eliminated in the first round for the second playoffs in a row due largely to his injury issues? We do NOT hold all the young guys to a “win or else” standard-even guys like Luka who’ve already been declared future Hall of Famers and generational talents. 1:07 Nick's insistence that the LeBron argument has been won is false.... What's even funnier is that prior to Cleveland 2016 when his top 3 was 1 MJ 2 Kareem 3 LeBron He then started pushing the narrative as seen on his Top 50 that the order was 1 LeBron 2 Kareem 3 MJ So not only had LeBron leapfrogged to no1 but MJ had dropped to 3 behind Kareem w/o touching a ball
that just shows he is ready to change opinion. I would be way more skeptic if he had lebron before MJ before 2016. In all fairness, 2016 was the best performance i saw live. I won't class bball players from different eras, because i started watching in 99, but i understand if anybody who watched think Lebron is better than MJ. i personally don't care, but i understand.
I think that was just for attention to be honest it’s hard to believe someone as into basketball and NBA history as Nick Wright could really think that Kareem is better than Jordan. The NFL as a business is an autocratic institution in this country. I can't imagine too many people rooting for the NFL throughout this playoff round and new round of scrutiny. Goodell's message is that if you don't like it, there's the door. Otherwise, shut up and take it. That message goes for everybody, including media commentators during a broadcast, no less. So I'm sure they will hear it from above, but I think Troy Aikman already knows that as he's saying it. At least you can't call him a sellout like Rich Eisen, Mike Pereira and Mike Florio as they spin it and tell us what to think. Good for Troy Aikman. He blurted out the truth. That's credibility. I like that. I hold him in high esteem for his candor on national TV. Yes, I'm making a larger statement here, that what's blurted out here goes against a narrative, so why promote that narrative to begin with? What coalition of interests is being served by it? Does that insidious coalition have more rights and more say than everyone else? You can't just get away with everything forever and expect everybody to just shut up and take it. Somebody's going to say something eventually. Institutions lose credibilty when leaders subvert their authority and disrespect the game, as if they're above it all. Remember Omar from The Wire saying to McNulty in the cemetery, ["...personally, I don't think the game should be played like that..."] Omar was a killer, but a man has to have a code, no doubt. Otherwise, the game just isn't worth watching or playing. The recurring theme on The Wire was that high rollers, and thus their institutions, sold out to appeal to a broad coalition of interests instead of sticking to what they should be: credible. Somebody's selling out the NFL's credibilty to Vegas and Goodell's vicarious takes here on The Rich Eisen Show are emblematic of that. You can spin it all you want but nobody's fooling anybody now. The difference between Rich Eisen and Troy Aikman: Rich is incredible, caressing the party "line." Nick's even worse with the hedging. Don't bite the hand that feeds ya!
Nick, we all remember that "never a doubt" tattoo was about KC going undefeated that year, not them winning the Superbowl. You got that tat in the preseason, and then you folks lost the first game to Detroit. Always remember that. 😊
Should we start listing all the penalties that were missed against the Chiefs? Wouldn't anybody go back and say anything? Nick is a cornball, that's why he thinks LBJ ( also a CORNBALL) is the goat. Just ask anyone whose career would they rather have MJ's or LBJ? Mahomes is that guy, but you can't deny that they've received many favorable calls.
Nick Wright is the quintessence of a man who uses 500 words to say something that could be said in 6. I take exception to his view about the difference the generations. While the zeitgeist is different, the main difference is the thought the sports press determines how people think. It can't be denied that the press has influence, but these are personal habits and choices. The main difference is in how the internet cultivates social habits somewhat detached from personal responsibility. Are we thankful for St. Nick "adding balance to the universe"? Kind of ridiculous...isn't it.

Their rosters aren’t even close to comparable…..and he got hurt last year in like 6 games. Not to mention their coaching ain’t comparable either.

Drew Brees used to have years like Burrow did this year all the time, never got criticized for it.
Dude when you throw for the most yards and TDs on a season and the offence puts up 25+ a game and you cannot make the playoffs because your defence is soo bad, yes that is a NUANCE to the game of football and not a Joe Burrow thing
Nick Wright is the last of a dying breed. The 🐐 at his craft at this point. If you’re a chiefs fan, there’s simply no one bettwr
He's an embarrassment IMO, and i'm a chiefs fan
1000% FACTS …….LFG CHIEFS
Everyone like dynasties that are fun to watch like Bulls, like the lakers with kobe and shaq even the curry warriors are not hated. People didnt like the way the spurts played and so they weren't liked. They weren't hated but people just didnt watch. They watched the patriots because NFL is king but hated them. Their style wasn't fun. People turned on lebron the more he went to the finals because as great as he is his style isnt always the most exciting to watch. Dan more like Dick!
I can guarantee you that he has forgotten more than know about football
You can’t simultaneously hold these two opinions:
@Grtgooglymoogly1
I mean, if you take out Lamar’s bad playoff games, I guess he’s been excellent in the playoffs lol
Lamar’s my favourite player but I take the good with the bad and believe he can get there one day with the level of talent he has.
Mahomes is already there. Already cemented himself as a top 3 QB of all time. But the stats are the stats. You can’t just excuse his bad games and ignore who he’s had to beat.
@@cjchaworth I mean taking away 5% of a playoff career is much different than 75% 😂
You’re exactly who Nick is talking about when he says we’ve over corrected 😂😂
Lamar has 13 TDs to 11 turnovers with a 77 rating in the playoffs. Yes wins are a team stat, but Lamar’s poor play is a MASSIVE reason why the TEAM lost…lol
The most insane thing is, those Mahomes SB numbers, that you think aren’t great, are still BETTER THAN LAMARS total playoff numbers, from earlier rounds vs easier teams 😂😂😂😂 Mahomes numbers in those earlier rounds are 42 TD 3 INT with a rating in the 130s lmfao
Like what are u even talking about??
Now do Mahomes' entire playoff stats. Games that are pretty important to you know, getting to and winning SBs. Who are the QBs Mahomes has beaten? He is a combined 6-1 against Lamar, Burrow, and Allen. The three QBs most would consider top 4-5 in the league.
“Huh… really!?!” 😂😂😂

What depth? Anyone can argue any point if you choose to ignore details. For Nick winning is not a QB stat until it is Mahomes and there are many more like that. Mahomes deserves high praise, but Nick argues from his ass side. Lawrence, Burrow & Caleb are some others he argues absurdly for. It is all a show!

😂😂😂😂😂😂
@ I rest my case.

Except it didn't. Those Warriors-Cavaliers finals were arguably the peak of this century's NBA. Sure, a case can be made for the early 2000s Lakers 3peat, and of course the 2008 Celtics-Lakers finals and the other 2 Lakers championships were extremely popular, but both those were as much about the stars as about massive franchises in the NBA landscape pulling as much attention as they always had. With Cav-GSW it was all LeBron and Steph, because nobody gave a crap about those teams before.
The league has become shit precisely because they didn't know how to pivot away from that rivalry and find new things with the following generation of players. Maybe because they didn't understand that holding young players to a "win or you're a bum" standard is something just very few player early in their careers are able to overcome.

Just wanted to respond to this part of your comment. So THAT’S why the league kind of sucks now? Because fans and the media expect too much from the young guys? Did anyone crush SGA or Jalen Brunson for not winning last year? How about Luka? How about Giannis, whose team was eliminated in the first round for the second playoffs in a row due largely to his injury issues?
We do NOT hold all the young guys to a “win or else” standard-even guys like Luka who’ve already been declared future Hall of Famers and generational talents. The issue is these organizations who saw what the Spurs were doing with load management years ago (with OLD players) and started applying it to their YOUNG ones. And now the issue’s run rampant. Until these players and organizations all agree that it’s past time to stop taking the fans for granted, we’ll continue to see the league fall no matter what standard we hold the players to.

Those last 3 minutes of Wright preaching are for the record books.

@anwarmccartney7499 to try to put the audience in the shoes of Josh or Lamar during their final drive. It doesn't mean Orlovsky is right about everything. But Nick saying he should be as critical to QBs as he is to the media is insane.
@ly_bb I interpreted what DO said as, hey we're not on their level so nothing is their fault. Especially the Lamar take. Aren't the high stakes and the attention why these guys make so much money to play a game?
@@ly_bbno it isn't inbred
You don't understand what it's like do either and here we are.
I haven't seen Knicks in ONE commercial yet... apparently being on ESPN makes you commercial worthy now. 🙄😂😂
This is sickening. The chiefs have 8 wins this season strictly due to the refs making a game changing call
That’s a take for losers and dummies. Which one are you?
Well that’s a lie 😂 they have zero. There’s been one controversial bad call all season that went KC’s way and it didn’t even help them win
@@ParkerBG lol comical sentence. I
Literally Loled.
@@Dylan-c2h everyone handles it a bit different when their world views are shattered.. some people break down, some people cry.. but I’m glad you were able to laugh it off. You’ll land on your feet!
@@ParkerBG to be clear I am not even a bills fan . I am casual bengals fans could care less if they lose but when the refs come into play I get like this over any team. The bengals got screwed last year in playoffs against KC
It was a first down and an incomplete pass.
MJ played in the NBA. Lebron plays in the WNBA.
Nick wright is the definition of a broken clock being right twice a day.
Facts
NICK WRIGHT FOR THE WIN!!!
I do agree that people want everyone be soft
Nick’s so worried about everything that happens on “the other channel” he can’t focus on his stuff. It’s getting irritating. We know FS1 isn’t the big channel and him constantly trying to attack ESPN ppl says just that
Nick feels threatened I am stunned in disbelief. Chris Carter made Nick carry his jock strap when he started now nick is the antagonist
Chris Carter made Nick carry his jock strap?... 😂😂... Now that's some funny crap! .... Btw where is Mr. Carter now? .... No worries, imma go grab a quick bite and come back in few hours, hopefully you can find out by then!
Nick Wright is outright delusional with his Jordan/LeBron conversation.
I really wanna know what this guy gonna say if those chiefs don’t 3peat. I bet he turns into the guy “these fans” have been acting like when talking bout the chiefs.
I think the Xavier worthy did not catch that ball and Josh Allen got that first down. And I think neither one changed the outcome of that game. every team gets calls but it’s only noticed when a team makes you pay with the calls. Ravens fans were hot about the DPI that set up a buffalo TD because it was a big moment and buffalo made a play. Facts are buffalo was not prepared enough. I want the chiefs to lose as much as anybody but bills had plenty of chances to win that game.
If Nick Wright is a chumpster, I’ll never watch him again
All Nick does is constantly justify why his opinions are right and everybody else is wrong, even in the face of all the evidence pointing to the contrary.
He must’ve meant the 2016 or 2024 election, right? Otherwise that’s a weird simile.
Josh Allen choked.
All his it’s became ok to just get there. Feel bad for them All started by him with LeBron lol
Dan has nothing but excuses for burrow and Allen to his grave
This 3 pest opportunity started with a bs flag on bradberry lets hope it doesnt end the same way
No it started with me and your mom getting on in the backseat of my jeep hater stfu
Nah Nick you get on the platform and hates on everyone that isn’t the Chiefs!
