Loch Maree - An Island On An Island - Eilean Subhainn

This time on When The Mountains Call we were in the Scottish Highlands at the stunning Loch Maree for something a little different. We ditched the walking boots for paddle-boards and headed out in search of a famous little island.
Among the many islands of Loch Maree lies it's largest island, Eilean Subhainn. In the middle of that island lies a small Loch with another island on it. This makes it the only place in the UK which boasts an island on an island.
So we were taking out boards out and exploring the Loch and the islands. We got some better than expected weather and some quite incredible views. All in all a fantastic day out and a really memorable little adventure.

I love those islands! Best remaining patches of Caledonian pine forest in Scotland. Never seen Loch Maree as still as that though… amazing.
