I have been watching your channel for around 2 years now and am finally writing my first comment in your channel. I am utterly amazed at how handy and mechanically inclined you are. Also, I think you are a great husband and wished all sons are like you. You have the Asian “ filial piety” that is inborn in you and not taught like in the Asian culture. With the flexible personality and the ease of adaptive ways you and Paige have, no wonder you have a harmonious and happy family life that everyone desires. You and your family is certainly blessed. My mother-in-law is Chinese and she will chop big and heavy duty stuff on the floor with the newspaper spread out for easy clean up. I have never seen that done in my own Chinese family. I asked my own mom about it and she said that’s what they do back in China in the “old days” because there were no counters and tables were not sturdy enough to with stand the force exerted from heavy chopping. The Chinese, however, don’t sit on the floor but squat while chopping on the floor. Asians are usually thin/light weight and squatting is easy. So, I believe chopping on the floor is from the old fashion days when kitchen counters didn’t exist. I see that Thai are also still doing many things that the Chinese used to do in the old days. Thai’s seem to be more traditional today than Chinese people today. You mentioned that your mother-in-law is Chinese. I guess her family moved to Thailand and she was born in Thailand? I don’t think she speaks Chinese, correct? Is she a Thai born Chinese then? Keep up the great work and please tell your mom that I said you are a “model son” that all moms wished they had. Happy Thanksgiving to all.
I do, too. I have a better view of any cross traffic while I'm backing in and a better view of cross traffic when pulling out. It's a lot easier to park head-in, and I feel it is safer for me to back in.

Thanks for posting & answering my question. I think the periodic Q&A videos are a good idea. Studio is coming along nicely but neon alien is a little distracting and I would consider using a darker color like a dark brown or black for the border trim above the brick.
Fun nonstandard questions…my in-laws are Khmer (they live with us like your situation) and in my newly built house in Phnom Penh we have two kitchens, one indoors with plenty of room similar to yours and an outdoor one, we also have a proper dining room with a large table. Prepping food is always done outside on a mat on the floor (good idea to use a krok on the floor instead of cracking granite counters) while eating meals by most family members is also on the floor but inside the western kitchen even though we have a dining room with a large table, and finally naps are taken by the in-laws on the western kitchen floor during the afternoon hours. My western kitchen is only used by me for cooking while it serves many other purposes for my family😂. We rarely, as a family, eat meals together, it’s fun to watch, one group on the floor and another (usually younger) group at the table. Our kitchen floors are extremely clean. It will never change. If we have friends and extended family over, out come the mats placed on the garage floor in front of the house for meals, drinks, and socializing and everyone enjoys themselves, including me, but I sit on a folding camping chair 555
A car is more maneuverable into a tight space in reverse (despite Thais, the world's worst drivers, making it look quite the opposite!) and your vision is better when driving forward out of the space. In the UK it's illegal to reverse out onto a main road, so we're taught/learn right from early days to reverse onto driveways and into parking spaces. I soon noticed when I first travelled to the States that (a) parking spaces are so much larger than the UK, and (b) the roads so much wider... all that space makes it much easier to just drive into a space. Drive into a space in Thailand or the UK, and you'll almost never get into it squarely, and will need to shuffle backwards and forwards a few times to straighten up. (Plenty of people in the UK still can't park though! 🤣🤣🤣🤣)
Hey Chuck, yeah, good answer. It is very entertaining for the most part. There was this one lady that must have tried to get into this one parking spot 8 times and finally gave up. Then she went to another spot where there were 4 parking stalls. After 4 attempts she was happy with what she had done and went into the store. I walked over after she had gone into the store and took a look at what she had done. Surprisingly, she was only in 3 parking spots. She had parked on an angle, and her front was in the stall on the right, and the back was in the stall to the left. I will admit, that most of the car was in the stall she was trying to get into. Lol ❤
Hi Chuck. I'm the ice maker guy. Thank you for answering my question! I was pretty shocked to see it up on the screen, I gotta tell you. And i was pretty embarrassed to see how I had blathered on, as someone else was trying to read it! 😂 Sorry about that! "Blah blah blah" was the right way to get out of it! LOL Cheers!
Nope. You’re wrong about everything. My next door neighbor’s cousin’s housekeeper’s niece’s neighbor’s mailman’s uncle who was in Thailand once in 1956 said that everything is different. But he drinks. A lot. lol Keep the videos coming. Yeah, even the golf videos.
You moved your mom over 9,000 miles closer to you, but I guess that’s not close enough?? 🤦🏻♂️ you are probably closer to her now than when you both lived in the Huston area 🍻
We always park "backwards" here in Okinawa, too. I think it's just more common on this side of the world and, like you said, Chuck...ya just never know what'll end up in front of or behind you - ESPECIALLY in Thailand. I just experienced driving solo there at our future home and it was quite the experience that'll take some getting used to. Cheers, gang!
You ever wonder why they park front end first at the family mart? I get a kick at looking at all the banged up rear hatches in japan. Some people just aren't good at backing in to tight spaces. I used to be a bodyman and the most expensive part of the car to repair is the front end like the a/c, radiator and headlights and a lot of accidents happen in parking lots. so i always park front end first to protect it. Also at costco i see people fighting to open their rear hatch to load their cars up. Its especially hard to load up when 2 people are trying to load at the same time.
Thx for the video...2 years in Laos and still getting used to the flies (and ants) inside the house on occasion. Regarding the cultural differences, I think at some point it's best just not to worry and bother asking questions, "why?" I ask my wife and she turns to me and says, "I don't know I've lived in the US the last 20 years, why do you think?" 🤔. By the way, nice Tito's banner on the wall!

It might be best for your viewer to get a visa agent in Hua Hin. I’m in Cha Am and had a visa agent in Hua Hin , who did all my visa work AT Hua Hin immigration office . So my first experience at Cha Am immigration was extra problems . Same with the bank, open your account in the city you live , later on in my first year I had to switch branches
Glad you found something that works for you. That's a good thing, we have a law office that is handled thousands of our viewers very successfully along with many other legalities.
Due to my age and pre existing conditions I can’t purchase a health insurance policy to cover me in Thailand. That said, I have heard that if one has a Medicare Advantage plan from a third party insurer, you can be reimbursed after the fact for major medical events, like heart attacks, etc. Basically one actually self insures and pays for health care to the Thai hospital, but can eventually be reimbursed.

We actually bought an international SIM card at the airport. But you can get any SIM card and add roaming to the SIM card very easily online. We don't use our international card anymore we just add roaming data to our service we have when we travel abroad. The SIM card is basically data only if you want to receive calls it's still very expensive. I suggest getting a Google voice phone number, or use Face book messenger, Line app, or WhatsApp to make calls internationally free, you can Google that to see what it's about.
