Without pre heating anything, I think the splitter started pretty quickly. Only thing I would've done different is be a little more ginger with very slightly opening the choke for the first couple minutes👍🏻 Tractor started very easily! Never used HEET, but have heard many swear by it in colder climates. We rarely have an indoor fire after the end of February.
Ya, while editing (as always) I was thinking, why didn't I do that?!?!!? I was impressed with the tractor for sure. I actually want to burn through all this material but I am wondering if it is going to happen. Need to make those repairs. Thanks as always!
Hello Joe! Love the woodshed. On the cold start Honda I have found that if you choke them all the way they will start in about 3-5 pulls. You need to leave the choke on all the way and idle it up a bit like you did the second time and then go to half choke for a bit and then you will be fine. If not and you kill them they are harder to start! 😂 Love that Kioti 2620! I might be pulling the trigger on one this week! Take care👍🏻👍🏻
The start on the Honda was simply me not knowing how to best do it. Going forward, I believe it is going to go much better for sure. The Kioti has been fantastic for sure. Have fun, select your option and enjoy the anticipation of awaiting delivery!
As a self proclaimed internet “expert-😂” I can offer several pointers. At 10:00 you talked about loose stacking - if you have the bladders for the totes, cut a big sheet off a bad one and put it in front of the opening; I do that and it works fine. For the tractor, try using “sta-bil” all season long it’s only 1.5oz per 5 gallons, also anything below 32F use a gelling compound as piece of mind. Both of those together are cheap insurance and will help cold weather starts. You could add a block heater but you might only use it once or twice a year… Fun video to watch.
I like the idea of using some of the waste to block off the big hole I cut. I have all the bladders sitting there wondering what I am going to do with them. Also, thanks for the feeback on the your fuel treating process.
Tractor should have a block heater plug it in if its very cold also full synthetic shell rotella is good and easily available 5 w 40 in winter. Hot shot secret makes the best additives for diesel and gas 👍
Good morning Joe! Chilly for you there I guess but this morning we went deep cold again! Probably around -20F. I'll catch up on your other videos soon. Been so crazy busy!
I'm in SW Arkansas and I treat my diesel with Hot Shot's Secret EDT+ Winter Defense 7 in 1 Anti-Gel Fuel Booster - Winter Diesel Treatment, starting December through March. Even if it doesn't freeze, it helps keep water from forming in the cans and tanks from condensation. 🚜
Thirty years ago, one of my cousins who had been a top-tier auto mechanic his entire career, was recommending that we use the RED-bottled IsoHEET in the wintertime here in Wisconsin. I believe it's isopropyl alchohol-based (?). He was also adamant that we NOT use the less expensive (methanol?)-based HEET Brand product that came in the YELLOW bottles. I don't recall exactly what his reasons were, nor if the products are the still the same formulations as they were back then.
Kiotis are nice...lol mine starts better then my 7.3L Powerstroke in the cold. I really have no complaints. As for the heet, if your getting your gas from a "questionable" source, it wont hurt. If its somewhere thats selling a lot of fuel and getting loads delivered often... Daily or more then twice a week, i wouldnt worry too much. Personally id be more worried about sediment in the tank then water.
Thank you. Does moisture have a tendency to build up in the tank though? Especially with all the temperature swings we have been having. I will not be using this stuff all the time. Used the bottle over 2 fill ups on the S10 and it all has gone well. Thank you again!
@@oakiewoodsman not usually... High humidity might cause a minor issue here and there, but nothing the fuel filter cant handle. As long as your changing it once in a while, should be fine. Old gas has a bigger water problem then fresh gas... Heet isnt ever a bad idea though
Jason says use equal part diesel fuel conditioner with the heet product (unless it has a lubricant in it?). He doesn't use it but says that will help if you are.
Splitter start surprised me. I think I mentioned my HF Splitter started 3rd pull in 0 degree wx and it sat for at least 2 months. Congratulations to Chris Martin!
@ well there are 2 varieties of heet the red bottle is for cold weather like you talked about, so when I ran a service truck that had a gas powered air compressor my gas can was always in the bed of the truck and inevitably water would get in the can then it would get put in the tank and in the winter the water droplets would freeze in the carb and the red bottle would thaw the ice and eliminate the water. The other bottle is yellow and it eliminates water also but it’s not for extreme cold.
Good video young man!!! Berrymans fuel additive in your splitter that's what i run in my generator works pretty good. Also in my kioti run hot shot diesel fuel additive works really well so far no problem. Used to use mahindra fuel additive was best ever used got it in 2017 when i bought new Tractor but it's hard to find. But watched guy test several additives the hot shot was best overall. I also run on road diesel with my Murphy usa points it actually cheaper than off road. Thanks for sharing be safe have fun
Thank you! I have been finding that it seems as if off road is not very feasible around my parts. I want to learn more about it. Thanks for sharing your experiences!
👍👍 congrats CM ! I only use the alcohol if it is a vehicle I don’t drive often or experiencing a problem. I don’t tend to use it preventatively.
Alright CF! Thank you for sharing this information

I use hotshot winter in all my diesels and had great results , had -10 the other day and all started fine
Very good! Thank you David

Been thinking about the Rotella on the first oil change
That is some cold starts
Yep! Your tractor did well
@@oakiewoodsman knock on wood it hasn't let me down yet.
My 3 cents is a shed that u can stack totes on top holding 4 or more
hmmm..... I may have to consider that buddy!

coldstart ,choke ,no trottle, wait a bit ,slowly remove choke
Should have done it that way

awesome! Thank you for the knowledge
I just completed probably the same repairs on my woodshed last weekend as I emptied it out. Now in the process of reloading it
The best time right?! Thank you again!

@oakiewoodsman Lol very slight possibility!
Heet is an excellent product! It’s got me out of a bind a few times.

Hello Kenny!
Everything takes longer in the cold. Keeping things out of the wind will help in the bitter cold if possible
For sure! With all that wood you are processing, it only makes sense!
start that thing full throttle
What one?
The log splitter.
alright. Thank you much!
Northern Ontario and easily will burn 2-1/2 months longer with the occasional cold nights late April and early May.
Wow! We have some warm weather coming but it will be very up and down for a bit going forward. Thanks for sharing!
I was suprised the log splitter was so hard to start
Probably cause I don't know what I am doing with it yet.
@oakiewoodsman ah it was just being stubborn.

Morning Todd and Mike!
Warm the fuel bowl with a cord less heat gun when Honda motor cold then slowly take choke off. It will start every time. Canadian trick
Excellent! That is what I needed, ppl that know cold to share about it!
