Your video is great, so mud so that my class is using it as an example of reliable information on the topic of the MTA’s mismanagement and problems! Keep up the good work dude!
The MTA's biggest problem is that it's simultaneously responsible for maintaining it's own infrastructure and expected not to lose money. This is literally impossible, transportation infrastructure is never portable to own so it must either be maintained by the government or we have to accept that the agency responsible for the infrastructure will always loose money. The current system the MTA is dealing with would be the equivalent of expecting airlines to manage and pay for air traffic control themselves but somehow still be profitable.
That's it! Public transit is supposed to be a public good and treating it like a business that's supposed to turn a profit doesn't make any sense if it handles all its costs like this.
Keep making the videos, regardless of your frequency, consistency or length. Suggestion: since you don’t want to show your face when doing dialogues, collect a bunch of city scenes you can use as a place holder instead of the ONE sunset image. Variety is great & there’s so much to the 5 boroughs that most of us never see! Also find images & videos that support your opinions, such as overbuilt stations-lots to share from your journey around the city. & I’d love to learn more about living on Staten Island.
Great video!!! I think the different costs between cut and cover and tunnel boring do have a big impact on capital expenses. Also, imagine if you bought a car 120 years ago. Then, you just maintained it for 120 years. During that time, you went through countless financial difficulties and crises, you went into debt, etc etc. You also drive your car 24 hours per day and maintain it while the engine is running. Maintenance costs would be very expensive. This is part of the situation with the subway. No matter how streamlined the agency gets, the maintenance costs on such an old system are astronomical. That’s why we need to be upgrading and building new lines and doing real overhauls to other lines faster.
there are easier ways to get rid of horrible frequencies like deinterlining train lines so trains can run more frequent without having more trains but this touched on most of the important parts sadly mta is not fully to blame since us as the community kinda stink and love to destroy property and explore abandoned stuff causing delays and expensiveness
I'VE BEEN ON THAT STAIRCASE! THAT SHIT COST 30 MILLION DOLLARS?!?!?!? God it's like that Bill Burr joke about child support: "Why does it suddenly cost ten thousand dollars a month to buy your kid Fruit Loops?"
I take the E train home towards queens and I shit you not EVERYDAY there are delays. I’m here right now because it took me an hour and a half to get home when my commute is only 40 min. I have an unwavering hatred for the MTA and its workers.

And this is why we need state bureaus like the government accountability office but yk state level so we can fully know like whats wrong with the MTA.
