- In this video, I go over what to expect after your vasectomy procedure. Usually, most guys are most interested in when they can have intercourse again. That answer is about 7 days, which is also how long a guy should not lift weights or ride a bike.
I'll go over recommendations for:
- diet
- pain control
- ice
- jock strap or underwear
- semen check following your procedure.
Hopefully, this video will give you some info so you can plan out your recovery after your vasectomy procedure.

I just had my Vasectomy last Friday. This is day 7 for me and recovery was smooth. I didn’t have any pain but slight soreness so definitely ice as that helps a lot. Most importantly I just got a round in with my wife and everything was normal no pain and the most importantly the finish was better then ever. Goodluck if you are thinking about getting it done as i recommend it for sure if your done having kids.
Same here im on day 3 no pain during procedure or after. no swelling.
Literally just got home from mine. Procedure was quick and painless. The cold stuff they spread all over you is the worst part

My husband got a vestomy 5 days ago and he still in pain he said the procedure was fine just after pain
Hi Doc, quick question. can i resume gardening (mowing, walking, etc) say 5 days after procedure? i work in that field and cant take much time off...i'll take it easy of course and gradually ease back into my routine but i know no squating, deadlifts etc
I got my procedure done on Friday. Should I use ice all weekend or just 6 hours after?

Im curious since you cut the cords of your tests does that mean i can swap them from positions like i can put my left ball in the sack section of my right?? Or they can't move? And no more worries about your balls getting tangled???
So it’s been almost a week after my procedure and I’ve caught myself in the middle of self relief a few times. I stopped before I finished. Is it possible my tubes reconnected from this?
I have 2 questions:
1.- What if I don't have a stich? - the doctor that did the procedure said that there was no need and it would close on its own
2.- In my case, 3 months does not equal 20 ejaculations; my wife and I are very active and 20 ejaculations would take a month roughly, should I still wait 3 months or maybe 2? Is it more of a time thing or a number of ejaculations thing?
Hey Jonathon, I know it's been a year since you got your vasectomy, but I just got mine and just had a couple follow up questions for you.
1. Does the sex still feel just as good?
2. Are you still averaging about 20 times of sex a month with your wife?

It’s a matter of time. Doctor told me I can’t just go 20 times in 2 weeks and he cleared up because that doesn’t give the left over sperm enough time to make it into the semen or something

How much blood is normal after the procedure. My suture site leave a couple spots in my briefs.

About 65 hours after my vasectomy i woke up mid-ejaculation after a wet dream. Is that bad? Is there now a bigger chance it wilk be reversed?

I had sex more than 4 times after my surgery the doctor did told me it i need one week with sex but mistakes happened, is there high chance the tube will be connected again ??
6 hours into day 1.
Slight bleeding from incision site. Using a dry 4x4 to cover incision site. Using ice in a zip lock with that inside a thin sock. No swelling. Pain is a dull ache. I'm tolerating te cold from the ice pack better than I thought. Looks like the doc snipped about 1.25 inches of vas deferens tune...

Is it normal to have a lump
i stick little metal clips on my vasectomies. you'd have to check with your urologist to see what they did.

Did it all- still a mess. The absolute worst thing I’ve ever done- been well over a year- massive regret and it put an incredible strain on my marriage.
I felt like a secondary concern during mine it was treated like a woman’s health issue
The minimisation of the risks and the flat out lies I was told are what keep going round in my head as they made it impossible for me to make an informed decision.
Even when this goes well it still damages the male body and has long term health implications.
Thankfully a reversal has all but eliminated the pain but my heads still a mess.
I go in this week am a lil scared..
Im on day 8 of recovery, still have some pain on the right side. Is this normal?
Update. Im now 3 weeks into recovery. No more pain. Just a little discomfort every once in a while. 10/10 would recommend for anyone thinking about doing it. Its easy peasy. Just follow doctors orders. Take it easy!
I work a lab job and can only be of 2 days. I'm getting it this coming Monday and I'll have to be back at work Wednesday morning. Do you think I'll be fine all I'll have to do is sit in a lab and watch screens most of the time.

@@Filet4528 went well. Just make sure you get supportive underwear.
And yeah mine itched I still washed in the area but it'll definitely itch. About the 4th day it'll get worse until they fall out pretty much.

I'm still in some pain and have significant bruising around the penis and on testicles, and it's effecting the way I walk. I've ejaculated about 7 times in the 4 days after my procedure. Could this be hurting my recovery?
He says about 45 second in that ejaculating too soon (within 7ish days) can lead to bruising and bleeding.
I had mine done yesterday.
I didn’t really have any pain afterwards
I didn’t really have any swelling so I didn’t use ice. Next day was better no pain really
One of my wounds already closed the other is still a little open but not completely open.
Overall it wasn’t to bad.

The part that was uncomfortable was the injections to numb the area.
But, that’s about it.

Been having chest discomfort since I had my vasectomy . It's been 7 days now and I think I'll be making a call Monday to ask if this can happen and If it should resolve itself . It sucks ...

It’s been a week an 2 days just started having sex is it ok or should I wait or to late
I had mine done Monday and my right side still feels like trash. Basically it’s been 6 days. The swelling has went down a bit, but I keep Ice on it. Is it still normal to have this much discomfort moving around?
Little pain, bruises and swelling go away after 1-2 weeks. However if you have lots of pain or swelling, call your doctor. They could be signs of infection.

I was told both by my doctors. You should only consider yourself sterile after taking a fertility test at the end of that time period and after 20 ejaculations just to be on the safe side.
When can i shower
Had mine done last week. The left one was swollen and hurt through the week. It was the one which was done by what I guess was a student bc he took much longer than the main doc that did my right. Now I feel like a kind of lump between the base of my tool and my left testicle. It's in the sack but closer to my body. My follow up is Monday. Hope this isn't too bad. Maybe it happened because I've had quite a few erections since maybe?
I had a vasectomy & my left side, was bruised & swollen as well, more than my right side & from what I have seen online, a lot more mens left side seems to be the worst side. 🤔 🤔

@@madwithhats i had my vasectomy done in 2021 December. It took me about 3+ weeks to fully heal. Now, im back to normal now. @@stephen7865 felt only pressure only thing that hurt was the pinch from the needle. After I forgot I had it done. But I highly suggest taking the meds for 3 days and sit on the couch. After the 3rd day, you will forget you had it done.
