Considered one of the finest young fantasy artists working today, Donato Giancola was named Best Artist at the World Fantasy Awards in 2004. In addition, Giancola has won three Hugo Awards, twenty-three Chesley Awards from the Association of Science Fiction and Fantasy Artists, and numerous other awards. Giancola’s admiration for Golden Age illustrators is apparent in the numerous paintings he has created depicting the Lord of the Rings saga. He has compiled many of these works in such books as Middle-Earth: Visions of a Modern Myth (2010) and Middle-Earth: Journeys in Myth and Legend (2019), which features more than two hundred illustrations.
Really enjoyed this video. I admire Donato's art very much. Truly a very talented artist.
Donato is a fantastic artist and a truly nice guy. Got to meet him at the Lightbox Expo and he was so easy to start talking to I didn't want to stop.
