Just had this surgery for this exact break. Sadly they discovered the ankle bone is soft due to osteoporosis so extra hardware had to go in. 1st week of bed rest and already climbing the walls. Very grateful to NHS UK,
That is what happened to me! I got the courage up to watch it, but I still can’t look at the original dislocation photo when it happened! Maybe one day…
I had that surgery on August 2020. X-rays look identical! Loved seeing what they did. They immediately put me in a boot though, no cast. But I was non-weight bearing for 8 weeks.
I had this done 2 weeks ago and only had a hard cast for the first week post-op and am now in an air cast boot non-weight bearing. Every surgeon seems to have their own preference regarding cast types & timings.
I just fell this past weekend, and I was terrified of my upcoming surgery. Thank you for explaining this surgery in “laymen’s terms” to help the average “Joe” understand it!
I had this exact fracture five years ago yup but I have to say I had a great result except for pain w weather change it's kinda cool to see what they do..the worst part was align my bones in the ER OMG!Meven with pain meds it was brutal
having this surgery in 2 days on my right ankle. i current have an external fixator on it. i wanted to see an idea of what's gonna happen while i'm under, although my fracture is a lot worse than this one.
Interesting to see what they did to fix my badly broken ankle. I'm now about 4.5 months post-surgery am continuing physical therapy, and can walk without a cane or walker. If I had seen this video prior to surgery, it would not have deterred me from having it done. I am fascinated!
Coupla years ago I fell and broke my ankle. This surgery is practically the same as the one I had to repair tje break. Had two (three?) pins on the inside and a plate and seven screws on the outside Was very interesting to see how it was done as I was asleep for my procedure.
Hi Joann, How are you feeling know? I met with an accident on feb02/2021,my right leg ankel got Fracture and dislocation this surgergy is practically same. 7screws and plate right leg ankel side and left side 2big Screws inserted my orthopedic doctor said this is called trimalleolar fractured. Now this 6month Iam able to walk very slowly no pain but feeling very Tense to normal walk again.
Dang, that girl broke ALL THREE sides of her foot…😳😳 Mine could’ve been so much worse. I just broke my ankle 2 weeks ago, but only on the outside (fibula), thank goodness. I’m a week into my “after-surgery splint”, and I’m going NUTS. I’m hoping I can get a hard cast when I go back for my Followup next week. Thank you for the insightful video; now I know what happened to mine. I sure hope my ankle heals up correctly and I can resume my normal activities soon!
I got this fracture after giving birth earlier this month! Epidural lasts longer than I knew 🤣 had surgery 3 weeks ago, non weight bearing for at least 6 weeks. Interesting to see what they do.
This was so cool to see, thank you! I just had this surgery done last week and I was curious what exactly was done
Same lol

Looks just like my surgery and x-rays. I’m almost 4 months post-op and just got discharged from PT and my ortho.
Just had this done yesterday lol
Great information thank you
Glad it was helpful Veronica!

I had the same surgery, only with 2 syndo screws instead of the tightrope shown.
