    1:28 these sunroof mechanism covers that you first removed in the video had become unattached and had fallen out on my 2016 Lexus ES350. Thanks for posting this video on how to remove these covers which helped me to visually see how to successfully reinstall mine.

    Hallelujah! This seal replacement fixes my Lexus RX350 2009 problem as well. I have spent too much time cleaning the drains and drying carpets, and treating mildew smells. I noticed that, with the sunshade pulled back, the car wash air dryer was causing a draught into the car. Thanks so much. Btw great workshop - looks honest and sensible 😊

    I setup an appointment with Lexus of Rockville for the leak issue in my 2014 ES. Not knowing they use a 3rd party for scheduling, I drove there and the service advisor had no clue what I was there for and he told me $3,000 to replace the entire sunroof. I left and will never return for service or a purchase. Thank you for this post!

    Yea my 2011 camry has been leaking finally ordered weather strip(why im here). But you just mentioned knocking. Which ive recently been hearing on incline turns like pulling into a driveway or gas station. Figured ahh shes getting old body and sunroof making noises.. but didnt think that the rubber could be the culprit... sunroof might even need adjusting. Thanks man needed this video.

    I had this same issue with my 2014 GS 450h. I could swear the rear parcel shelf was loose but kept thinking, how in the world would that even happen as it is a permanent structural piece? I lived with it for too long as my car has never once been to the dealer or shop in over 10 years of ownership and didn't want the bad juju, LOL! So, I put up with it until last year when I stumbled upon a Lexus forum that described the problem and the easy fix. A quick RUclips search yielded a DIY tutorial, and within 30 minutes of securing the gasket, the rattle was history! Your video is excellent as well and I particularly liked your "behind the scenes" shot of the dripping water going through the car wash. I am going to need to take a look and see how mine looks - I have never thought to do this before. Bravo Zulu!

    Holy shit so I was right. I have a 2015 genesis sedan and an es e350 that’s beginning to show its age. There’s a light popping noise and when I went to check the weather seals were in bad condition on both due to the Texas heat.

    • @alittlebitofthat8064
      @alittlebitofthat8064  Год назад

      Isn't it crazy? Who would think those kind of noises were due to a bad weather seal! I got rid of a perfectly good car back in the 90's because I though it had a bad valve tick. Turned out to be an easy fix with an exhaust manifold gasket. 🙄

    So the amount of water that was coming through before the seal replacement… is that normal? I have a 2010 IS250 and the seal is definitely worn but it doesn’t leak or get water where it shouldn’t but there’s a lot of water that comes through the gap when in a car wash just like this video. I’ll be replacing my seal cause mine too also rattles but I wanted to see if the water seepage is normal or not

    • @dwindeyer
      @dwindeyer 11 месяцев назад

      The seal is not water tight, even with a new gasket some water will go around the seal and down the sunroof drains

    • @alittlebitofthat8064
      @alittlebitofthat8064  8 месяцев назад

      Yes. Also important to keep those drains clear. Run a stiff wire down the tubes to clear them if you think they may be clogged.

    greaet video. We just purchased a used Lexus rx350 and every time i open the sun room (when it retreacts into the roof ) It is sticking and making a loud pop. I can see where the seal is hanging up. I lubed it up once and it helped for couple times but now it's back. I thought of replacing the seal because it seems dryed out and stiff. I ran across your video when doning some research on how to change it. Do you think replacing mine will solve this problem? (no water leaks that I can see.) Just thought I would get an opinion from someone else.......thanks.

    • @alittlebitofthat8064
      @alittlebitofthat8064  7 месяцев назад

      No, didn't have that problem. Sounds like it could be an alignment problem. Is the glass too far forward or too far back? I would play around with that a little before I do anything else.
