I have done up to 50,000 in one year so that would be 5 services, so it all depends on how much riding you do and these are ADV bikes so should see a lot of Km per year. I have not got the manual for the KTM yet but when I looked on line did not remember seeing 3 months just 7500 Km per service, the first service was at 1000 Km which most bikes are, I do know some of the larger KTM bikes need a lot more service. I also had a BMW and it required more replacement parts than any other bike I owned and I had a lot, over 55 years. It was so bad I got rid of it when the warranty went off and had 2 friends who had the same problems, with there BMW. I am hopping that the KTM will be better.
HI , i test drove the KTM adventure 390 today and then bmw g310gs. The performance of g310gs felt very poor in comparison . I have a moderate riding experience primarily with royal enfields only. I am scared and excited with the performance of KTM adventure 390 , the gearing will take sometime to get used to . I am disappointed with the quality and service of Royal Enfields , should I still go for Himalayan and compromise or with the KTM. My rides will mostly be to the hills near chandigarh and normal roads. Please suggest
I've lived with multiple Royal Enfields (2 Himalayans and a std 500) and have owned an RC 390. So talking out of experience. Also after riding the Adv 390 extensively, I can assure you that the KTM is much more sure footed than the Himalayan, which feels a bit too laid back and lazy. The Himalayan runs out of breath on the highway quite early on (around 100 kph) while the Adventure pulls like a train. The Himalayan's suspension is more plush but at the cost of lumbering handling. And the tyres they come shod with are dangerously bad. KTM handles with more agility but its rear suspension is a bit too stiff to be called comfortable. Mileage is similar. KTM will keep you safer as long as you don't abuse the power in the wrong areas. Reliability wise, the KTM will need you to look after it in terms of timely maintenance and chain adjustments etc. Basically you need to be aware of changes happening to your bike in terms of wear and tear, and get it fixed. Parts are affordable so that shouldn't be a major problem. Himalayan sucks in terms of build quality. Both the Himalayans I've lived with shook their instrument clusters violently, the coneset would always go out of spec and the bike would always feel "loose". If only the BMW had more service outlets and affordable service rates. So from my point of view, you should go for the KTM. It's worth the extra cash.
I took the test ride of both the bikes . BMW is a good bike but it has a shitty Engine . It sounds very bad and it feels very stressed above 90 . But bmw has better suspicions setup but at last ktm has a better package. Engine is good , nice pull . It pulls so good in no time u r about 120, 130 . And u can ride it all day long on that speed , nice electronic package . U feel safe on ktm also it has fast more better breaks so at last I have booked ktm 390 adventure 😁👍🏻
I have test ridden both of these bikes in the US and admit to being a BMW fan. To me there is something about a BMW that just rides different. With that said, I am not a fan of the 310GS. Good points in the video but for me the best bike for my desire and style is the KTM hands down...buying one today and it will be my first KTM.
@@brendonfernandes2877 i disagree, the fork dives way to much under heavy braking, and when you get excited with the throttle just a little bit, in off road it bottoms out very easy. It´s comfy for gravel roads but nothing more. Where i live it 12% more expensive than the ktm, that is a lot. By no means i´m saying is a bad bike, it is a fine bike but overpriced as hell which gives it a very bad cost/benefit relation
@@juanfelipearango2029 Ah this is an Indian website. Here the bike is cheaper than the ktm. Our roads are pretty bad so it's softer suspension is a lot more suited for our patchy roads. The ktm works better on well paved roads which we don't have a ton off except on certain highways
I will go with the KTM 390 Adventure, for what most people will be doing off road it is more than enough just add some bar risers and may be change the foot pegs. You can turn off the traction control, and 2 settings for the ABS On road and off road also adjustable suspension front and rear. And one huge thing for me is more miles per tank of gas. You can get through some pretty bad off road just not at high speeds. With the traction control turned off it does very good on off road hill climes. A lot of very experienced riders were surprised how good it did, and the new riders were making it up the hills no problem. You should watch some of the videos on the KTM 390 Adventure going off road, it does very good, I would go with KTM's better bash plat and better hand guards, as the standard ones are more for dirt roads and very easy off road. Just remember it is a ADV bike not a duel sport. If you want to race off road the BMW 310 or the KTM 390 are not the bikes to get. But if you want to go off road and take it easy they bough will do a very good job. But the KTM has more adjustments to suit the riders needs. And much better range per tank of gas. But I feel they bough should have much bigger gas tanks, if you are doing fire roads you will not find any gas stations. They should get at least 400 Km per tank, and more would be much better.
Brother verry well explained but let me tell you Ktm seats can be modified to provide the extra comfort that is in the BMW gs310 my friend has done the same and pulls 150km at a stretch without aching his butt. But no matter what BMW offer best in class suspensions which has its advantages as well disadvantages. In this price range BMW offers obsolete technology as compared to todays generation KTM modelss. As for low end torque in new adv 2022 i didnt faced any issue in low end when i switchedoff mtc...as comparing the two BMW service cost maintaince is on higher note with no presense of service network( which is big issue to look forward). They do provide RSA but at high cost. No doubt the quality of BMW on other hand is extremely great. And to look into both companies are making equal effort to offer something or the other in their motorcycle but if you in todays date BMW has just entered indian market and need to develop its market size and offer something other then its brand value... A person like me, if i had to look for value o money i would choose KTM over BMW in todays date. Most importantly safety which adventure provides is extremely commendable in this price range. The Seat for the KTM390 Adv is perfect and hard enough for long rides wherein your butt doesn't sink unlike the GS310. Also tbh The GS310 Feel underpowered and lethargic + vibey which you won't find in the KTM. + a Bigger tank for the KTM. Also go above speeds of 90-100 and the GS310 cries for breath the KTM wont 🌚 even at speeds of 130kmph+ Speaking about the parts for the KTM - WP APEX suspension, diamond forged pistons, nicasel coating, cintered brake pads, bidirectional shifter, etc FYI the service costs for the KTM are way cheaper than the BMW that charges you for a stand they use while servicing 🤣 does theTVS engine BMW badged bike get any of it? 🌚
I don't know about other points but the KTM is definitely not better in seating comfort than the BMW, you are wrong there, the suspension and seat comfort are the 2 very best things about the BMW.
You're also wrong about the engine, the engine personally and specially made engine by BMW developed and produced in Germany and not in India and not by TVS. Parts may be sharing with TVS, but engine is pure German made 🤞
These aren't strictly off road bikes. They make excellent touring machines. My friend has the older GS and he has never once gone off-road. He has a Impulse to do off-roading.
@@armandofernandes87 If you want an easy to maintain tourer the RE Himalayan is the one to get. Its low compression engine allows you to use even bad fuel. If you put bad fuel in a high compression bike like the KTM 390 you are going to face problems. The BMW is also a good tourer as its engine is not as high compression as the KTM but service is expensive and service centers are few. However reliability wise its pretty good in the new avatar. The earlier one had battery issues which resulted in stranded riders. The KTM Adventure 390 isn't a great tourer but if you stick to well paved highways its a very good tourer. Just make sure you feed it good petrol only.
Hi would highly debate that statement, watch some those hardcore places the 390 adventure gets taken in Australia- plus it is a much better value for money buy overall!
What bout service cost of both bikes .. there’s huge diffence.. less service reach and expensive spare parts make bmw a expensive deal though ..! U personally like power . So I will definetly go with KTM ..
The pricing which u mentioned is wrong. The dealership charges 360k for rallye edition... charging in range of 15 thousand for some depot charges... also insurance is quite high at 18k . So although they have reduced the ex showroom price the actual price is quite higher.
You can complain to BMW and they will waive off the depot charges. Also the insurance you can take from outside. You just have to complain if the dealer refuses to play ball.
I feel the stiffer suspension on adv390 is always better onroad and off the road....the slower the rebound the less bouncy the bike will be....GS310 on highways feels like a boat and is not confidence inspiring.
Bmw ka kutta Tommy aur ktm ka kutta kutta 😅 Overdrive overlooked 390adv like anything. Best in class comfort, acceleration, features, navigation, traction control, off road abs, colour Display, superb headlight, build quality, servicing cost. Yes BMW310 gs with ktm 250adv will be a comparable thing. 390adv is a class above compared to features & performance
Best in class comfort ? Hardly. Hard seat, extremely tall seat making it hard for shorter riders and hard suspension. Other features are nice to have but people have been riding without them for decades without issues. BMW works well where it counts - suspension and comfort. Its performance is not the best but with our Indian roads being unsafe as it is most people stick to 100 kph on highways and the BMW can manage that very well. If you ride at illegal speeds then the KTM is a better bet.
Hahah nonsense imo, i watched videos where the ktm 390 Adventure is taken by experienced off road riders to places and over terrain that would leave you speechless....can’t do that on a Duke 😉
G310 gs much better tourer than ktm adventure which is a duke gt not really an adventure motorcycle. The gs has much better suspension for touring than the ktm. And the stock seat is excellent as well
@@raghushastry21RS It's a pretty well known opinion of most people. The ktm adventure is a duke 390 which is a bad tourer and so adding additional travel suspension doesn't do much to make the ktm a good tourer. Every review of the ktm will pan the seat comfort and they will say the suspension is hard. Both things make for a not so great tourer.
Nothing to be hurt about. The bike is much faster than the BMW and has far better features. With the upcoming spoke wheels it will improve the bike in rough terrain.
If you want comfort and off-roading the gs is better . But if you want to have fun the ktm is better is also gets more features and is cheaper to maintain...ktm is vfm
Between both "adventure" bikes i would pick the Himalayan BS6 any day...having tested all three bikes. Otherwise these are just road bikes pretending to be "ADVs". Please!
Hey Bro, now with the Spoke options for the 390 Adv, and with sprocket changes the 390 ADV will be a much better proposition. The KTM has shown me ease of ownership, availability and cost of parts etc.. Why I might even get a Xpluse with a Rally Kit and make all the other 3 look like choir boys.. but yeah will let you when I get either the 390 Adv or GS... or heck maybe a Trident 660.. Yes the GS is a sucker for tech for its price.. Hope you’ve picked up your Himalayan and have a safe, good and reliable time with it .. God Speed Bro - wish u many kms of happy rides 😁✌🏽
KTM 👍 BMW/TVS has to come at par with 390adv in terms of engine Atleast. I can ignore that ugly instrument cluster on a GS & if you are ready to bend over & pay through your behind for those fancy plastics, be my guest!
They don't need to. The 390 Adv is a high strung high compression engine. Its gonna get in trouble if you feed it low quality fuel. Not everybody wishes to ride flat out.
@@OlllOHD Its simple physics. There is a reason not every engine is so high strung like the KTM 250 and 390 engines are. That's why its common for KTM engines in India to suffer from failures and have to be rebuilt. They need only high quality fuel due to their nature which is not that common outside of cities in India. My Z650 has a very relaxed 10.8:1 compression ratio while the Duke 390 and RC390 have an extremely high 12.5:1 compression ratio which is what superbikes use. Since the 390 Adv is basically a Duke 390 on stilts as it uses the same engine in the same state of tune with just a larger sprocket to improve low end torque which is severely lacking in the Duke 390.
@@OlllOHD No no I never said I recommend it. Its a CKD bike so its very expensive. Lots of cheaper options available. Was just using it as an example of engine compression. Since the Z650 is a low compression engine I can safely use regular fuel though I still use Speed even though there is no requirement. Its not a recommended bike for most people. Only for those who love torque. I spend almost 12k per year on service and accessories are very very expensive. A good set of tyres only cost almost 20k

I'd choose the BS6 Himalayan anyday over these overpriced and unnecessary features. These cant even offroad properly the Himalayan's tractor like engine just keeps chugging on and on
Himalayan has the performance of 160cc bikes. Please don't compare that slow poke Himalayan to the BMW. The BMW is 1 and half seconds slower to 100 kph than the KTM 390 and the Himalayan takes 6 seconds more than the BMW to reach that speed. And worse the Himalayan can't sit at 100 kph without protesting.

@@hpxsanga161 the KTM Manual states 7500 km for service, if you are doing a lot of riding even just 30,000 a year that is 3 services for the BMW,. not one.
Comfort and off road riding G310GS. For on road and excitement the 390.
Which is more good and comfortable for long rides ,bro?
@@rajeshnaik2391 they are about equal. Because the 390 gives you the ability to move around more on the seat I’ll probably say it edges it.
Feels like you guys are biased towards the KTM.
Himalayan. If u can stretch ur budget then KTM. But m sure Himalayan won't disappoint.
@@vivek1393 thank you vivek for such an insightful reply. Definitely going for ktm now.

Please have a look in this link you will get a content what MTC has to offer which none of the people know about...

This Video is an advertisement for GS310
Such a disappointing video to be called as a comparison video. Instead name it as Paid BMW G 310 GS Advertisement..
Both assembled in INDIA 🇮🇳
The Seat for the KTM390 Adv is perfect and hard enough for long rides wherein your butt doesn't sink unlike the GS310.
Also tbh The GS310 Feel underpowered and lethargic + vibey which you won't find in the KTM.
+ a Bigger tank for the KTM.
Also go above speeds of 90-100 and the GS310 cries for breath the KTM wont 🌚 even at speeds of 130kmph+
Speaking about the parts for the KTM - WP APEX suspension, diamond forged pistons, nicasel coating, cintered brake pads, bidirectional shifter, etc
FYI the service costs for the KTM are way cheaper than the BMW that charges you for a stand they use while servicing 🤣
does theTVS engine BMW badged bike get any of it?
Parts may be sharing with TVS, but engine is pure German made 🤞
Any one noticed millage in city..
Give me splendor & I'll do better offroading then any of these 3lakh plus bikes even it breaks there is enough money left to buy new one
These aren't strictly off road bikes. They make excellent touring machines. My friend has the older GS and he has never once gone off-road. He has a Impulse to do off-roading.
@@brendonfernandes2877 What do u recommend for touring... something which is easy to maintain also....bmw or ktm

Between both "adventure" bikes i would pick the Himalayan BS6 any day...having tested all three bikes. Now the BMW is a looker, so if you are buying purely to look like a fukboy, then GS is your bike. Also, if I were to pay a premium price for the GS, it should at minimum have added a LCD display, switchable abs, and 21 inch front and spoke rims! Otherwise these are just road bikes pretending to be "ADVs". Please!
Hey Bro, now with the Spoke options for the 390 Adv, and with sprocket changes the 390 ADV will be a much better proposition. Having “Owned” and not just “Tested” both a Royal Enfield T’Bird, Hero Impulse and now a KTM 125. I’d rather look like a fuck-boy than a grissly mechanic on the RE due to recurring break-downs,, trust me this is coming from me who still does most of his own maintenance on all my bikes/car where I can post the 1 year SVC visits..

BMW/TVS has to come at par with 390adv in terms of engine Atleast.
@@brendonfernandes2877 I've watched a million reviews, not once I've heard anything like what you just concocted.
@@brendonfernandes2877 Okay, I hear ya. So, you reccoment z650? What is the ownership cost / service etc?
@@OlllOHD No no I never said I recommend it. Its a CKD bike so its very expensive. Lots of cheaper options available. Was just using it as an example of engine compression. Since the Z650 is a low compression engine I can safely use regular fuel though I still use Speed even though there is no requirement. Its not a recommended bike for most people. Only for those who love torque. I spend almost 12k per year on service and accessories are very very expensive. A good set of tyres only cost almost 20k
