  • Sure, Group C was a mind-bending kaleidoscope of colour and speed. And yes, GT1 was a formula which quite rightly deserves the renaissance it’s currently enjoying. But there’s really only one winner when it comes to sports-car racing’s most dramatic, dangerous and downright sexy of eras and that’s Group 5 of 1970 and 1971. And there is, of course, one car we most closely associate with the halcyon Group 5 years: the Ferrari 512.⁣

Upgraded by the factory to 𝘔𝘰𝘥𝘪𝘧𝘪𝘤𝘢𝘵𝘢 specification, chassis number 1024 was sold new to the storied Italian privateer outfit Scuderia Brescia Corse, which contested select rounds of the 1971 FIA World Sportscar Championship, in addition to the burgeoning European Interserie. A class podium and fourth overall in the 1000 KM Zeltweg was a truly stellar result against the might of the factory teams.⁣

The soundtrack is the car, NOT the incidental music. It always ruins these video's.😢

Gave it a thumbs up because of the topic. Took it away because they have music over the sound I actually want to hear

Stopped at 55 seconds when the music score called for screechy violins. What a wasted effort with all the soaring drone footage, the scenery, everything contributing to a great video EXCEPT THE MUSIC!

That sound.. the tone of the 12 cylinder is so evocative of that period.. the perfect exhaust note.

  • @pectenmaximus231
    @pectenmaximus231 7 месяцев назад +2

Get rid of the bloody violins during the symphony of cylinders. This was so tame. It's like I'm expecting Alan Titchmarsh to show up. Where's the unabated fury of a car driven at the limit? That's driven in anger.

Goosebumps! I have seen and heard this car in real life. In fact, I have felt this car drive by. The 5 liter engine produces such great noise you will feal it :)

This is a glorious car to be sure, but to say -
“And there is, of course, one car we most closely associate with the halcyon Group 5 years: the Ferrari 512.⁣” is just plain wrong and anyone who is aware of racing history knows that.

People with car channels and content
also people who does not understand that the only music we want to hear, is the revving engine of the cars they incidentally are making content about
how is it possible to be this blind to one's self imbecility
wake up, damn it, more raw footage, nice with beauty shots but fuck of with the music in any damn case
    have we not learned anything
    ''we want to stand out''
yeah, well, you are, well done

Fantastic race car. Pure beauty and a timeless look. IMHO the best era for prototype race cars. Thanks for posting the video. Looks like the track was an old airbase, with hard stands for the aircraft. And you were driving on the taxiways. Is that correct???

What an era for cars ! So glad l grew up in this time, cars had so much soul now they’re more like appliances. Electric cars are fast and efficient but…..that sound , no soul.

it was nicely filmed, but not much "driving in anger" here. The guy not even wears a helmet and race suit. He was rolling around with cameras all over the car to make a nice video.

    The music killed the experience.

Se Ferrari l avesse schierata e sviluppata in forma ufficiale invece di privilegiare la 312 in chiave 1972 la Porsche 917 avrebbe vinto molto meno. Prova ne è la Sunoco che viaggiava fortissimo

Penske & Donahue did their best to make the 512M fast. The Scuderia with the old mans approval gave them the new engine for Le Mans that’s saying something. Even with Donahue tweaking the aero mid race it was 10km slower than the 917’s down the Mulsan. The M was competitive for 1970 but lucky it was not.
I will always have mixed feelings on the 512 because it took Pedro from us.😢
