Hi Ross! I really enjoyed the video. Ty Sir. So, headwind go with 3/4 spin to lower the Apex and go with full Backspin for a Tailwind to take advantage of the High Apex for carry. Looks like a 7 yd distance, that's a lot :) Ty. For heavy winds would you ever consider a flat drive with little to no spin into a headwind. Course I have in mind is Saint Andrews. Thanks for your friendship and wish you continued success on the WGT Tour. Peace
STA as you mentioned does well with flat and topspin. However some holes have uneven fairways so the ball may not kick/roll forward. Another example of a top spin drive situation would be Merion #4 and Olympic #14. Chambers 12 is a drivable par 4 but it is largely aim dependent. If you hit the back side of the left hill you will run up to the top shelf so driving the ball long into the shelf is the ideal situation for it to roll back down
# 16 at PGA...from the 30 - 40 rough by the bunker to the pin is 170 or so...I hit it 195 and still didn't make the upper tier...I don't get it...why does some 30 - 40 rough play longer than 40 - 50 rough?
Hey Mike! Given this particular situation, it sounds like you may have had to hit a 4 iron as I’m just guessing. Keep in mind the longer irons do not have the same amount of loft as a shorter iron. Therefore, they will not be able to dig the ball out of the rough as well on impact. Furthermore, there are different cuts of rough. The 2nd cut rough plays, much more difficult than the first, which may or may not have been another factor. Often times hitting out of the rough with a longer iron will just end up having to accept the fact that the ball is not going to fly very far because of the algorithms in the game.
Where in the game can you practice long range courses with the top tracer like that? Whever i hit practice it just throws me on the putting golf course
When you click Game Modes, there is a single player section where you can choose a particular course. After clicking on the course (not CTTH) you can then select Practice on the left hand side of the screen. Choose your settings and go. Keep in mind if you have apparel activated, this will come into play in single player mode so you’ll have to turn it off. If you’re on mobile: then it will be known as Stroke Play Solo that you will scroll to after Game Mode. From here you select a course to practice, click practice mode and tee off.
Will a ball with 5 distance and 5 spin go as far as 5 distance and 3 spin? I feel like my 5.3 D 4.2 STitleist ball goes further than the new Callaway 5.6 D 4.6 S. I’ve tested them, but I am not consistent enough nor is my equipment since I’m only lvl 76.
In theory, less spin means it will have less wind effect imparted on it. Therefore it will cut through headwinds much easier. Less spin ball in tailwinds could also mean more roll out on fairways for more distance. The trick is to find a ball that suits your style of play. High spin balls are great for stopping on fast greens, but they can also spin off. Low spin balls require playing more release which can be done. A lot of people try using balls that top levels players use, but don’t know how to use them properly. Using a ball the suits how you like to hit shots is key, and will make your game all around better
Wasn’t always like that. In the beginning, I had to play very little so that I could keep the credits I earned from the tournaments I played in. As I began to build a bank roll and had confidence in my shot decision, then I could enter more expensive tournaments and win more credits. It’s a slow grind overtime.

Great info and examples. I usually hit most drives with 25% backspin. I will try using other spins now.
Thanks babs, very informative.
