If you go back to your old bag you could always get a pencil pouch (like the kind you'd use in school) for your pencil liners/brow things and your smaller brushes. Then just zip it inside the bag with your other stuff. If anything it'd help minimize the rummaging a little. Still, LOVE the blue, it's my favorite color, too. :)

Honestly, even though I'm abaolutely not someone who returns something light heartly, for how much it costs, this one item I would. Specially because it makes no sense to create a makeup case that's hard to clean.
If you decide to go back to your previous bag, maybe you could benefit from buying one of those makeup brushes cases with a few elastics to hold them into place. You could also use this for your pencils to keep the in place and I'm sure it wouldn't be hard to find one that would fit inside the previous bag.
These are usually very easy to clean and I think it would be a great organizational improvement to your routine 😉

Welcome home Kat! I travel a lot for work...I'm a flight attendant, so that is work 😄 I find traveling with several smaller bags is more helpful. I keep wet items in one bag, dry items in another and brushes in a pencil type case. Sound chaotic but it works for me. I've had items open and become a mess. Keeping wet items together in a plastic case makes it easy to clean. Also I can move smaller bags around in my roller board so they fit better. I find one large makeup bag is to bulky, especially during the winter months when I'm packing bulkier cloths. I love the blue and the idea...its just less practical.
Thats a great idea for travel, but I just want one bag for my daily makeup 😊
I got gifted a travel beauty bag when I was 20. That was 37 years ago and I still use it. It’s brilliant. The only thing that’s wrong with it is the zipper has seized on the small outside pocket.

I'm glad you did this video. I've been wanting one of these (tossing up between the blue and the purple/lilac one. But it is definitely smaller than what the ads/pics make it out to be. So now I probably won't go for it. One of the best bags I have is from Caroline Hirons. They really hold a lot.

I have the off-white double zipper vanity case. I only put my everyday makeup in it, and it looks perfect on my bathroom countertop. Everything is organized and looks elegant. I don't intend to use it for travel, as it is bulky.

I would return it, doesn’t look fit for (your) purpose. But then it’s back on the mission to find a good one and it’s exhausting so I totally get it

Firstly welcome back! Thank you for this review. As some one who has a smaller collection of make up, and looking for a way to store it this is really useful & given me food for thought to consider something similar. I am team mini, team quad. I house my brushes in a separate zip bag so brushes aren’t an issue & my 20 odd lippies (my weakness) I could pop into a medium zip up bag so I have plenty of food for thought.
I have 2 of these make up bags one with the extra layer and one without. I find I over stuff them but the extra layer does help with eyeshadow palettes and it comes with a mirror which can be handy. Like you Kat I agree overpriced for what it is but the quality is there.
I've seen these all over IG and FB and have to admit I've been tempted, but never bit the bullet. Thank you for sharing your experience with them and appealing to the rational part of my brain that told me no. I would have never thought that they felt as cheap as they do for that price tag.
I have a Mecca Cosmetica one I got for my birthday in 2020 that has two tiers, one I use for brushes and then the bottom is pretty much like this one without the dividers, and it works well enough for me when I travel. (I had travel plans in 2020, lol.) The one thing it has on this one, is that it can be cleaned up easily enough. I know my mum uses a flat lay one, that way she can see everything, but it is still a bit disorganised. I hope you can find a makeup bag that suits your needs Kat.
That bag is too expensive to keep if you’re unhappy with it. I noticed in my experience that the more organized you get the less room you have. Doesn’t really make sense. Idk if this idea would work or not but can you possibly slip the palettes toward the back in between the case and the divider? Does that make any sense? Would they fit? I’ve been searching for the perfect bag for years! I find something I’m happy with. Stick with for a couple years then it no longer suits my needs. I guess my needs change which makes sense I guess. Anyway I hope you find the perfect bag soon and congratulations on your new baby! I had no clue!

Hi! I hope your family and you are feeling very good. And that your body is recovering fast. What works best for me are those makeup bags that makeup artists use to stuck in their trolleys. I find them robust, very compact and easy to clean. I have one bigger for face and body skincare and the smallest available for makeup.
Could you post a link to these type of bags?
Hi Kat I had a thought you could get a sewing pick and undo the stitching where the brushes go it would i think make the fabric wider to store more brushes but it’s a risk as the bag was $95 so you would have just two pockets instead of three. It’s a beautiful bag very nice
I just got the newer mini vanity, which has elastics as brush holders, it is much easier to fit a lot of brushes. Also i think you should have used the side pockets of the organiser! I can fit all my lip liners and eyeliners and mascara in an upright position there. The newer bags are completely wipeable as well, my foundation and lipgloss leaked inside of it before and I was able to wipe it off completely. I guess the newer version is more worthy of the price tag

I have two makeup bags. A squarish one like you have (with no compartments) that I have my pallets and brushes in, then another that folds open (supposed to hang up) with different compartments for my base products. I'm fine rumaging through palettes but I want to be able to open one thing and have my blushes, open another for foundation and concealer. I find it helpful, but i do kind of wish I had a desk area to keep and do my makeup instead of dragging the bags from one room to another

Thanks! I only travel once every few years so I’m not really looking at one for travel, it’s more for ease of access for every day makeup 😆
@@KitschSnitch I have some wooden dresser from Ikea I keep in my bathroom. I actually wrapped it in a lovely wrapping paper because it was a bland wood color. But then again it has six drawers and my entire collection fits in there, except my brushes and my five palettes that sit on top.
The case is stunning!
A few years ago (before the world sh*t itself), I bought their acrylic cube drawers thingy. One of the handles broke within days which was disappointing but it was still usable so I dealt with it. A couple of weeks ago, another handle broke and I cut my hand on it. So I decided to chuck it. I hunted around for another one but none were really big enough except the ones from Etoile. So I've decided to give them another shot. The delivery has been a nightmare though. It was meant to be delivered last week but apparently I didn't get to the door quick enough for their liking (I'm so sorry my wheelchair doesn't move quick enough...). They then were supposed to do a redelivery which never happened and I've stayed home all week for nothing. If It isn't delivered tomorrow I'm probably going to have to contact Etoile.

You were so cute with your overflowing bag. I think the problem is that we have all the things and we love all the things. Make up bags are great for minimalist collections. That person with the one foundation, the multi tasking products who does the same minimal make up day in day out. But when you have more and I want to use this, and this and omg I love that, beauty bags are difficult. The struggle is real. Thank you for the review, I’ve enjoyed pottering around the website, their stuff looks lovely, but can I be that person with a couple I’d every day staples every day.?
The colour is stunning. I have had various ones over time. My current favourite is from Amazon. Doesn't have the height but has loads of compartments and flexibility. Was about $40

That seemed so unsuitable and completely different to the ads which looked like everything were minis! I have an IKEA 3 tier Raskog trolley which is on wheels and fits everything on it - makeup, skincare & haircare. Best thing I bought for that stuff. I just have cheap boxes & tubs in it for brushes & pencils. If I'm going away I pare everything down and decant skincare & foundation into travel bottles / pots and use an Elizabeth Scarlett washbag with soft brushguards on travel brushes. Alternatively, why not set up a permanent set of things at your mum's like base products and a few brushes then just take different palettes and lipsticks? Cheeky, I know but...

I think everyone's organisational style is different. Sometimes you have to flirt with the other side to know what works for you. I'm team just give me one big pocket. My partner is team small compartments. I can only do small compartments if they have labels otherwise I forget what goes where and just shove stuff anywhere. Then I have to look in lots of places to find things.
I know the whole point of this really is the dividers but if you do decide to rejoin team one big space - try just taking the dividers out and see how you like it then. At least then you can still keep all your pencils at the top.
Honestly I feel I have yet to encounter the perfect make up bag.
Not sure if anyone suggested this but maybe take the compartments out of the new one and use them in your old make up case, since its bigger.

I recently bought a makeup bag but I think I got one too big! Why is it so hard? haha. The bag is beautiful, too bad it doesn't quite fit your needs.

There are lots of less expensive similar options! I found mine on eBay. Not the pretty color but adjustable compartments for less $$
I know it’s always annoying to rummage thru a big bag but the compartment makeup bags just don’t do it for me.

Yeah, train cases aren't made for makeup enthusiasts that have a ton of different products. They're for people who use the same kind of thing daily and don't have blush, bronzer, contour, powder, highlighter, etc. Nevermind people who are panning multiple types of products (foundations, concealers, lips, etc.)
Just not the right case for you, IMO.
I think it is right for my everyday makeup, because it is a pretty simple routine and the case does fit it all in there. My main issue is that I just didn’t think it is as organized as it claims to be, and the lid pockets could have fit a lot more and were a wasted opportunity ☺️
I end up buying new bags every year or so. They show wear so quickly, regardless of quality.
I must have lucked out with the drunk elephant one. I’ve been using it for a few years and, besides being a bit grubby, it’s perfectly fine!

Love the colour, but otherwise I think you’re wasted your money. You can get much better, and easier to clean, solutions on Amazon at half the price.
