To be perfectly honest, a beginner set with no tension bar is unforgivable. Everything else about these isn't even an issue, even if they are a bit thick. I don't even mind the burnt mustard color. I'd recommend them if they came with the bare minimum needed to use them.
I bought these some months back and really like the “worm” rake with the Peterson handle. Mine were finished beautifully but being in NY and being able to pick them up over paying Peterson’s ridiculous shipping and handling has never resulted in poorly finished picks. I do wish they didn’t use a different color for the handles as they don’t blend into kits with their regular picks; though it does let you find the work easier. Hopefully they’ll be adding the “worm” to their lineup in 0.018” as that’s a better thickness for me and the profile/handle combo is great.
I'd guess it's their take on American school bus yellow. Tis a bit like an oxidized mustard... darker and redder. The range between that and pencil yellow is pretty well associated with education. For buses, it's meant to be "hi vis" even without retroreflection for child safety reasons.
Peterson used to be my go to picks until they changed the handle material, would still use or get the 18 thou stuff over these, there is a lot more choice out there nowadays
I do love the handels and the colour coding, not that i have many but the best thing about this video is its the first time i have seen what you look like lol (reelection in the 1100)
Nice. I have 3 of those (and duplicate backups): their worm rake, the "Hun" based on the Sparrows Atilla, and the #3 hook based on Sparrow's Tron. I also have the original Sparrows picks and had even bought them first, but I just prefer Peterson's handles so much more. Sorry Sparrows, you have to get with the times and offer better handles. And honestly, I like that beeswax color. Not a fan of purple. Aside, I seem to have slightly better results with the worm and it's muted peaks than I do a traditional bogota, so props to Sparrows for that.
I get a kick out of P’s marketing. He’s a total throwback. Clearly knowledgeable, but his emails are stuck in the 90’s, his “specials” and promos are right out of the 80’s, and throw in a pro wrestling style beef with a competitor in which he plays the victim???? bwahaha…..Yeah, I throw him a few bucks now and then. Growing up, watching my dad deal with slimey coin laundry equipment distributors, I know his type exactly.
And don't dare criticize his products on social media. I got some toothless prybars that weren't deburred at all. They still had razor-sharp edges. I posted on the Facebook locksport group about it. Big mistake. He'll call you and tell you that you don't have any idea what you are talking about, then make fun of your last name. Good lord I wish I recorded that call.
I'm colourblind so the handles look orange to me 😂 want the Multipick jacknife orange 🤔 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 Decent looking picks and you could always tweak the profiles. Looks good for beginners. A very good and fair review. LN
I agree about the colour. Would have liked to see a City Rake.

Hard to beat jimmylongs picks..I have yet to see a set of picks even close to what Jimmy's picks sell for..love them..thanks for the channel!
JL picks are ok. But I still grab my Peterson picks first over any other brand on my bench. And I have them all.
That pointed short hook is my main pick love it
Nice, don't mind the mustard colour, but £65 feels a bit steep, still mourning the breaking of my gem pick, 😭😭😭
👍👍👍👍🍾
Something what I really like is Peterson handles. Most of my tools is Multipicks and Southord also excellent tools but Peterson handles is 10/10

A very well balanced review.
Peterson’s is still salty because Sparrows makes thin, bent pieces of metal too. 😂
😆
Their Wonder Waves set is identical to the Palmer Wicked Waves produced by Sparrows. 😆
the wonderwave set is my fav from Peterson.
I agree; they're identical to the Wicked Waves set from Sparrows, and I have great success with them. They'll open just about anything, it seems.
great video Ash mate 👊😊🇬🇧😎👍
Great set. It's not my go-to but pretty close. I do prefer the h7, gem, and standard hook for most locks. But this set is a great back up

i have never been able to justify to myself the high cost of peterson picks and tools.
moulding is rough.
Outside of the wave rake it looks pretty identical to what I got off of wish. Not saying these are from wish.

The color is definitely mustard. A bit subdued from a bright yellow hot dog mustard, but still mustard.
The color is mustard yellow imo
Decent set, not crazy about the color!
Yes, good demo. A bit pricey. 🇺🇸
Nice to see they are the USA manufacturing (wasn’t a fan of the RSA one’s).
They look like orange to me!
Just the video lights I think
I must have bad taste because I like that gold color over the purple.
Maybe it’s the video lighting, but it’s not gold in person. More baby poop
Peterson does different colors for thickness of picks. Purple is .018 and these .025
@@LockNoob You're right, I just remembered I have my blue light filter on.
I'm with you, I love the handles but that color is a turn off. Great set for beginners though, so it has it's niche. Thanks for the review!
MY $15 CHINA SET , SAME ... BUT BLUE
Is it the same though?
5:42 To me, this is honey mustard, 6.37 € per 200 g jar.

Looks like School Bus or Pencil Orange to me.

That color is pumpkin.
I have no issues with Peterson just have no what u want and what u want use um on
I own this set. Along with all Peterson picks.
It’s a nice set. Just add a gem in 18.000 and you are set.
Good video
Very well down and fair
Its a no for me though
Covert Instruments
I really want to like petersons but cant get over how they treated Bosnian Bill.
how about how he treated Peterson? they used to be friends.....
@kenpersson-zt1uy I just remember the letter asking him to review a set then asked to have them sent back.
I know you guys are choosing the right locks for each pick and practice getting it open before the camera starts rolling. Nice try though
I personally don't like Peterson. They're the _only_ picks I've ever had break, they're expensive for what they are, and they're not full tang.
No quite a short tang, but I’ve only had a single break myself
too many hooks, no snowman, half-diamond and city rake... pass
Peterson is mid-grade at best, spend your money on a better brand.
