- The price of timber is ridiculous at the moment so I'm felling and milling a few trees that I planted last century.
For those worried about the effects on the environment from cutting down these 3 trees, don't worry, I have planted over half a million trees during my time working in the forest industry so I have removed enough carbon from the atmosphere to negate the carbon footprint of 10,000 humans. Хобби
Awesome! No computers, no load sensing pump, no DEF fluid, no DPF or SCR, no electronic anything, Just good old fashioned steel, diesel and oil. Love it. Nice job Marty 👍
Err, i think it’s petrol! Les
Haha…oops…yes it’s petrol.
If there was a EMP above NZ Marty wouldn't be affected, all his old machinery will keep on running.
This is the content that I ❤️ from Marty T
Yepper. Spark, fuel, and compression. If you have all three, it'll run. Today, if a dozer senses too much suction on the intake it'll put it in limp mode. Such a shame. When you need a 4-year degree with a minor in computer science just to work on a modern piece of equipment, things have gone way off track.
That little Bristol is a trooper! Can I also add a thanks for all the unseen effort of the many (many) camera repositions to get all of those great angles that build a compelling video - it does not go unnoticed 😊
Tractor therapy. The clop clop of the tracks. The sound of the engine.
06:00 my favourite flex from any youtuber ever. Half a million trees planted, and here they are fully grown. And maintaining them using refurbished and repaired plant. Perfect
Nice job Marty!
Thanks Marty, for taking us back up the mountain, for the beautiful scenery and those awesome vintage machines still getting the job done. I can see the grin of satisfaction working them all the way from Texas! 😎
This is a man that loves what he does. That last clip was great!
You guys are living an admirable, entertaining & rich life. It’s a life I think many people who aren’t able to do the same as you, are thriving on viewing your activities. In a world where lives are so disrupted, you bring a stability and normality to not only our mental health, but you’ve all managed to entertain us with these calm, fascinating tasks you do. Well done, thank you and keep them coming.
Marty T and Diesel Creek on the same day….. YT magic. Thanks Marty
Just missing Andrew Camarata. The day would be complete with all of them.
What a good dad.
I love how everything comes out of the same shed!
Great job, son is adorable!
It’s great how a ‘little ride on the Bulldozer’ can cure what ails you!
Or get ran over!
BEAUTIFUL MARTY!!!!!!ESPECIALLY THE END WITH YOUR SON RIDING ON THE BULLDOZER!!!!GOD BLESS!!!!!
G'day mate, greetings from over the Tasman. I think the old Bulldog has more then paid for herself, I remember when you rescued her, what a little beast. Great to see your training the apprentice. 👍😁
I hope you and yours are safe and well.
That’s little work horse,,,awesome job,,,thanks for sharing,,,
In this day and age you sir are living a dream
Great to see the wild Marty back in it's natural habitat... I think you need another one of those 'dozers mate. What real bloke doesn't admire a nice pair of Bristols.....
Yo beat me to it!
The Bristol dozer is a good little workhorse Marty.👍👍
Long term thinking is so impressive!!!
Providing for your family and leaving your little slice of earth in a better condition than you found it in. Well done Marty 👍
Planted over half a million trees far out Marty you are a machine love your work my friend!
Hi Marty from the UK. I genuinely could watch hours a day, you doing your thing takes me away from all the madness. Thankyou. And all the best.
A respite from the madness is what we are all here for
Reminds me of riding on my dad's lap on a D6 Cat in the Idaho Rocky's, back in the late 40s & early 50s... They skidded the trees the same way, to a rail landing, where a steam jammer was used to load them on flat cars to run them down to the mill in Potlatch or Lewiston...
Our family used to winter in so that dad could rebuild the equipment during off seasons...
Potlatch camps 14, 36, and 61 💘👍
"That's a cute little bulldozer"
Proceeds to relocate forest.
I certainly hope that your subscriber count is enough to help u to continue what u do. I love to c all your videos. Very educational and also very enjoyable. Thank u!!
nothing like a ride on the bulldozer to make us forget our troubles! God Bless
Your vids have great problem solving solutions, Always interesting. Thanx Marty
The calm , serene , continuity IS FINALLY EXPLAINED...! you planted em , you cut em.... surely the best method -- and you can't lose unless you get a forest on fire...BRAVO..!
Seeing you fumble and juggle moving the the blade into position makes you see just how advanced machines have become in 60 years
Love watching you tool around on these old pieces of scrap iron you magically made work again. So relaxing and usually learn something too. Thank you for sharing your life with us. Inspiring.
Looks like a fun machine to run. Impressed how quiet it is.
It's a stout little machine.
And being so low slung to the ground fairly safe in that hilly terrain.
Noticed that also. His boy has grown quite a bit in the last year! Good to see additional access being created around the ol' homestead!
For sure, extremely quiet!
@@mlsargent51 Marty really does a good job with resurrecting these old, neglected pieces though, doesn't he!
I also wonder how the skiff he did all the major fiberglass & structural work is doing. as well as the camper shell rebuild?
You planted half a milion trees amazing !
Nice to see the place again, Marty. I guess the sheep don't mind you tromping over some browse for now as you're helping the grasses grow in the longer run for their benefit. Not too many folks are privileged to harvest trees that they planted in their own younger days off their own bit of land. It makes my heart sing. Well done!
What an awesome piece of gear still going strong. Keep up the great videos Marty. Much love for Cork Ireland🇮🇪
**Edited for spelling mistake’s
Congratulations for California on your forestry abilities and management. Most "off the grid" imagines deprivation and limits in your life. You skills negates all these arguments are shine a light on you and yours. Impressive pair of boots are you.
When my grandson is visiting I always have to do some work with my excavator or tractors he HAS to "help" drive . Great fun.
I was wondering where you gathered all your skills Marty. Your comments about working forestry make sense. Thanks for so many great videos.
You need a log devil its a skid for a log to be pulled out of the woods. We make them out of half logs with rounded ends with 4x4s across to chain the logs to it keeps the log from plowing. I live in Washington state in the woods. I move a lot of wood. Like your video's all of them. Take care friend
I wish I lived there and could have a life like this thanks for the vids good luck
My Marty, wow what a lovely old piece of machinery some people would just throw it to the scrap heap But it still works after seven years certainly Beats Pick and shovel keep up the wonderful work Cliff from Logan City Queensland Australia
What brilliant little crawler that is,the Austin motor sounds great.
Always a good day when Marty gets a rescue machine out and does some work and takes us along. Cheers
Watching you use this little machine reminded me of the first experience in riding/driving a crawler that I can remember. I'm 64 and was, maybe 5 or 6 at the time. Our church had purchased what, I think, was a small, military surplus crawler that literally came in a crate and covered in cosmoline. They brought it out to our farm shop to clean up and prep. It also came with a 2 bottom plow. When it was ready, we had a potluck lunch at my grandparent's house, all the church members came out and we drove in around an empty field across the road. Anyone who wanted to, could take a turn. Afterwards, reps from the aid society took possession of it, with appropriate ceremony, and it was "sent to Africa". I can only assume it actually ended up there. :-) We actually had a Cat D4 even before I was born, and I remember that tractor, but not as early as this one. I've also driven a Cat Twenty an =old= Thirty (where the seat's behind the tracks), a small Cletrac (don't remember the model), a Yuba Ball Tread (look it up), and a one-of-a-kind Union Sure Grip (look that one up, too), at a museum at the University of California, Davis (Antique Mechanics Club). One crawler we had in the collection, that was not running at the time due to a cracked water passage, was a Cat 65, serial number 1C1, the very first production diesel Cat built. Last I heard, several years after I left, it was repaired and is still run, on occasion.
The Bristol ran great and pulled those logs with ease. And now you have a new track to maintain or not.
I'm 56 and one of my first memories is steering the huge bulldozer at the garbage dump when I was 4 years old and I still like to drive them today. lol
Great video, the bristol is amazing your channel is amazing. thanks marty
Your little sweetie was able to forget about his Lego problem for a bit. Getting in my skidsteer could always help me forget about my problems for a bit too. I guess we never change.
We had a oliver cletrac when I was younger my dad would use it to skid trees out. Didn't have a blade but it would pull anything you hooked to it. Had a Budda diesel engine most had Hercules gas engines.
Oddly soothing.
Its great seeing old iron put to use. Thanks for sharing, much appreciated Marty!
I love the people that complain of trees being cut down living in a wooden framed home sitting on their wooden deck comfortable in their wooden rocking chair
Most people dont realise that a well managed forest or woodland is WAY more productive than an untouched piece of land. Its a shame land management isnt taught at schools, even basic level stuff.
@@LegendLength They want everything but don't spend a second thinking about where all the resources come from
@@fozzyami some land should be just managed by the same manager it's had for the past half a billion years, just saving.
I live in British Columbia and logging has been in my family for generations.
As a heed of warning, managing land mass, especially one that is part of a larger ecosystem will almost always turn into a never ending problem for you with subsequence of the larger ecosystem falling out grace as a result of humans' control issues with this planet.
I am all for taking a piece of land and have a century long plan to help feed your family as opposed to bleeding the land dry in order to place a down-payment on a brand new pickup truck.
"We live in a society"
This is an awesome dozer
You won youtube again with this one Marty, glad to see you back on the farm!
And yet another great father memory for this young lad.
When I first saw the Bristol it looked to be little more than a garden toy. How wrong I am!
What a useful machine.
Some tree-huggers might not, -- but FWIW, I applaud your position on forestry !!
Tractor is working great and best part is Marty and son time👍. Thank you as always😇🗽🇺🇸
You remind me of my brother-in-law who had a strange knack of finding really good deals every time he went to a tip shop. He once found a crappy electric guitar with a really bad brush paint job for $50, I bought it for $100 and stripped the paint back to bare wood and found out it was a $700 Vester.
What fine machine it is. So useful & a great find.
What a cool little dozer
What a great Dad!😉
It’s nice to have an old workhorse like that 👍🏻
Love that little Bristol dozer. More videos of it please.
Little one trouble with Lego! 'Do you want a ride on the bulldozer'? Brilliant.
I am always impressed by New Zealanders; give them a lenght of fence wire, some baler twine and a hammer and they will mend anything and keep it running. A truly green way to deal with machines!
Need some lumber for a building project.
Everyone: Go to timber merchants
Marty T: Step 1 - Make your own road....
Actually... Step 0 - Plant trees decades ago.
I love watching your videos, keep up the good work Marty!
Nice to have a bulldozer driver in training!
I live in the north west of the US and in the 1970s the tree huggers would spike trees and bomb saw mills yet the industry has planted back over 500million trees to mitigate the offset because forest management is important for a healthy ecosystem which is a well known philosophy for the US Forest Service.
Always precious to spend a bit of quality time with the little ones.
Greetings from Ireland, great to see the bulldozer working, well worth rescuing. Great video, i look forward to the next one.
A million trees planted-that’s quite an accomplishment! I practice conservation as well, and harvesting, planting, and repurposing when done correctly bring fantastic wealth to all and everything. That dozer is a workhorse! Well done!
Thank you again Marty have a great day.
A ride on the ol' dozer beats the heck out of a leggo problem any ol' day!
I'm so grateful for the new video. Thank you for taking the time to make it.
Ah , back into the land and machines excellent to see , your a man of many talents , the most special talent , is the way you have with your family , the little fella cheered straight up , on the dozer with his father , absolutely priceless marty . Exactly the same way as with my family , my sons and grandchildren . . No amount of money could buy those moments . . Top man . Total respect to you all . . Wonderful family there mate . . Excellent .
Wow that was satisfying to watch mate! Keep the vids coming, I got a 1948 tea20 Ferguson for free a little while back, hadn't been started for around 15 years, seized up, but got it running like a dream now
More trees, more humans. I like that, that is a "Win/Win":) Much peace.
That dozer is amazing and so quiet at the beginning of the video I thought it was an electric one! 😁👍
I could sit on that beauty all day long!
Thank you for some of the best life affirming videos.
Every time I see the countryside you live in Marty, I am amazed how much it reminds me of my own little corner of Northern California in the USA.
No GoPro's were harmed in the filming of this video, Another great episode dude
Kiddo has the right attitude, hehe, first sad, then he gets a ride with dad on a nice old dozer, life is good again in 2 secs :)
Another lovely little escape from the desk job for me there Marty! keep that youngster involved in your toys or your garden will end up like my gramps in Kenya, no one knows what to do with the things anymore! :)
Great to see the Bristol up and running. Awesome work horse!!! Bring on the milling 👍
Another thing that is awesome... even though you’re a busy guy, you still take time to answer your fans.
I couldn't help but think. Where's Marty off too? He is sure determined to get there... Plow on! Good show!
Nothing like a little ride on a bulldozer to fix things right up.
Liked the Bristol ever since you got it. Nice to see it again!
Awesome work with the Bristol, always great to see some 'dozing, sawmilling, and cool mountain scenery.
Great video, Nice to see you back at the Real place . You saving the old equipment negating having to build more accounts for a lot also .
