What subjects would you put in multiple loops?
This concept for scheduling has set me FREE!!
I am so glad to have been introduced to the LOOPY way of doing things last year. It takes a lot of guilt off of your shoulders when there are so many smaller things you really want your kids to learn, but never end up having time for.
My looped subjects are Artists & Composers, Fallacy Detective, Shakespeare (in story form, as you do), and states’ geography. So not too much this year. I need to add in election as well.
I just wanted to say thank you so much. I'm learning how to schedule and looping everything that's not core stuff is just super helpful. And then having a loop within a loop is absolutely genius...
You are so welcome!
I love this! I have 4 girls and would love to include more home ec for them (they're little so everything takes long). I worry about getting a good variety in. I think you just gave me the answer. Instead of sewing, knitting, embroidery in our loop, I can just make this a sub category. Same with kitchen skills. Cakes, pies, breads, etc can be a sub loop. Brilliant video! Thanks for sharing!
I just stared doing a loop schedule this year, but I may try this extended version. It took me a minute or two to wrap my brain around it.
I love this!! Thank you for sharing! Now to tweak my loops! 🤪
Do you do the activities during a time block? How do you know to move on to loop B?
Dear Pam, what subjects could be used for a loop scheduling for a high schooler? My son is in 10th grade, but science and history I feel at this time may not be ideal to skip. Please a word of advice will be greatly appreciated!🤗 thank you! (This is the first year I'll be trying this method of scheduling)
You could loop language arts. So if LA is literature, writing, grammar, spelling, vocabulary then put them on a loop and do LA for 1.5 hours a day. See how many lessons of each he gets to.
I didn't fully get going from one loop to the next. Meaning if there are five items in Loop A say 1 through 5, then you would go to loop B and then just do the first one and then go back to Loop A? I didn't understand that part.. Could you clarify? Thank you!
Hilary Akman loop B is a single item on Loop A. When you are working down your loop A list and you get to the words Loop B then you choose the first thing on your Loop B list.
Then go back to the top of Loop A and work down again. When you get to the words Loop B do item 2 from the Loop B list. And so on. Make more sense?
Where do you read your folk tales from ?
In our YMB+ Morning Time plans we link to folk tales online. Sometimes we use picture books as well.
