I agree with you. Very little solo stuff. Their choreography is almost entirely connected and fairly basic. They have a beautiful emotional connection with each other and they don't over do things. Me likes that and that to me is why they stand out. Most of the others look too harsh and way too angry.
Konstantin and Dominika ( red dress) show how keeping it simple can be even more attractive than drowning oneself in diamantes (especially the boys). She is very expressive and they have good chemistry between them. I think they have a strong future.
Why cant this be in the Olympics...If Ice Dancing can be included in Winter Olympics, Summer Olympics should include dancing as these are true athletes!

What I believe the problem has been, and still is, is that the i.o.c view the sport more as an art form, although these guys are as fit and athletic as anyone in most other sports. The in fighting and discord within the sport hasn't done it any favours either. The judging system I believe is also a big problem and not acceptable to the I.O.C. Dancesport has tried a number of different adjudicating methods, but none to this point has been satisfactory to the International Olympic Committee. Until it can come up with a system that's more transparent, fair and less biased, this sport will have little to no chance of acceptance. For me whist dancesport style has made huge strides in the physical aspects over the years I feel it has sacrificed its artistic beauty. What I see today is phenomenally good movers not necessarily good dancers.

I have danced and taught dancing for decades and dancing is for everyone regardless of how you look. Infact its a great way to get fit and shed excess kilos. Don't be so hard on yourself just be brave and go for it. The hardest thing to do is taking that first step but find the courage and do it.

It is hard to watch an expressive art form being reduced to a mere pedantic rivalry of stylized movement. I liken this to listening to a guitar or piano virtuoso who has magnificent form, but no content.
