Just for future reference the elite package of the Trailhawk is just a more luxury features. The Trailhawk is the off road trim level of the Cherokee sort of like the Badlands on the Bronco Sport. All Trailhawks have 1" lift, off road tires, 2 speed PTU with a true 4 low, a true locker rear diff, full steel skid plates underneath, Crawl control, and down hill decent control. The elite just adds full leather seats, alpine 9 speaker sound system, duel zone HVAC system, ambient lighting in the interior, and a couple things I can't remember at the moment.
I like Jeep's....but the most likely reason she traded it in is because the mpg suck's on these things. The Escape will be a big upgrade in that area. If you don't ever drive off payment or regular gravel roads (that any car can handle) there is zero reason to buy one of these. Granted they look pretty cool.
