    Ray, Nice to see some behind the scenes footage. Great idea doing this, need more. Can you film some before and after the golf, a recap in the bar/clubhouse after, a bit of relaxed chat.

      Thanks bruh! Defo more coming...we've filmed some recaps in the past (some links below if you haven't seen them already) and will defo do more in the future. On this occasion as you can see in the video it was dark when we finished and the guys were keen to hit the road, as was I. The day trips can be long and arduous (as fun as they are) so sometimes it's tricky but for sure will do more as and when we can.

    Really enjoyed the behind the scenes stuff as well as the full Vlog and I agreed with all of the winter tips but I think you missed 1 tip that's vital to enjoying winter golf, Lower your expectations, winter golf is definitely harder for us handicap golfers. Anything above 30pts isn't a bad knock. you've got 50 layers on and the ball goes less distance. stay warm. have fun:)

    • @yourgolftravel
      @yourgolftravel  6 лет назад

      Very true! I actually commonly say that to people going on away trips to courses they don't know so disappointed I didn't think to add that one in.
      I think lowering of expectations on every round you play is probably a good idea for most golfers!
      Thanks for the post bruh.

    sounds a bit obvious, but my winter golf tip would be take a thermos flask of either coffee or soup. You burn more calories when it´s cold to regulate your core temperature, so a bit of food and warm drink will help with that. Also thermal layers next to the skin rather than cotton will help stop you getting a chill as cotton absorbs moisture/sweat, whereas thermal layering wicks the moisture away, and helps you stay warmer and dry. Great vlog Rory, really enjoyed that round (has to be said Marks putting was brilliant and a great ad for custom shop) cheers brah!

    Hey Ray! I’m a member of Ashburnham and gutted you didn’t make it down. I have to say I’ve not known Ash to be closed before this cold snap arrived. Sadly they have had to close it about 4 times over the last few weeks due to sub zero temperatures, protecting the course I assume. They have opened in the afternoons though when it warms up. Never known it down Ash before. I guess they are being a bit more proactive to protect the course now the greenskeeper has been nominated for an award (and a fantastic job he does as well - very much deserved). Hopefully you’ll make it down again soon sometime.

    • @yourgolftravel
      @yourgolftravel  6 лет назад

      Ashburnham is a cracking course! It's a shame we didn't get to play it but totally understandable they want to protect the course in the long run.

    Loved the video, Rory and thanks for the tips.
    I just want to comment on the layers, as you use a t-shirt as a base? Assuming it is cotton or polyester blend, this is the first thing we learned during the winter drills when I was in the military in Norway - was to never use a t-shirt as a base. They are designed to soak up your sweat (you sweat even when it is cold) and the t-shirt will then make you cold as it cannot isolate. Use wool or other technical clothing directly on skin or even a mesh instead, much more effective, and it will still isolate when wet/moist. I promise, you will feel warmer, and the itch goes away once you are used to it ;)
    Oh, and cmon, you are not rubbish at all, you are a good golfer, give your self some credit, I think you are a good addition videos with Mark. Keep up the good work :)

    Great Vlog Rory,
    It is 33° today, hard to relate to wearing seven layers. A cold winters day here and we might have to wear a singlet😂.

    Thumbs up for this video! Here in CT the courses are closed from end of November until early April. I wish they would open though on days when it's in the 40s Fahrenheit. I would definitely bundle up and play! Thanks for the fun video! Question: Does Your Golf Travel do any US to UK trips?

      Oh we want to mark my words...it's a little tricky though.
      There are a lot of moving parts to the trips and to do Down Under any justice at all the trip would need to be at least a week, if not longer. Hard for Mark to be away from his young family for that long as well as some other issues.
      I'm sure we'll get there one day though bruh!

      There are so many great places we could film and so many moving parts that place limitations on where we can do but we'd LOVE to hit that area of Scotland. We defo need more vlogs from Scotland no matter where we film.

    Nice vlog, I don’t do winter golf, last time I tried my bag almost went onto eBay (bad day). My season starts around March/April and finishes around October/November, also won’t play in the summer over 28• which luckily isn’t too often in the uk, 15-25 and dry is all good....god I’m fussy.

  • @babayaga5392
    @babayaga5392 6 лет назад +1

    There's no way I could swing a club with 7 - 8 layers. Like you I wear UA gear and all you need is UA Base 4.0 crew top and 2.0 leggings. Golf shirt on top and a fleece pull over. Wind shirt or rain jacket with rain pants if it's windy. Golfed in -5 weather and was never cold.

    • @yourgolftravel
      @yourgolftravel  6 лет назад

      Not everyone is the same bruh. Plus I was planning for similar temps on the south coast of Wales where wind chill would've played a part. In the end I removed plenty of layers. As per the point I made at the start...just guaranteeing I was never going to be cold!
      Cheers for watching bruh!
      Rory

    • @babayaga5392
      @babayaga5392 6 лет назад +1

      I agree that it's always best to be over prepared for the worst possible scenario and everyone has different tolerances to different weather. Being cold, wet, or even worse both, is never enjoyable and dangerous. I was like you where I wore several layers of clothing but it seriously impacted my ability to swing the club. I learned that if you spend a few bucks on high end base layer that is rated for the right temperatures, you can do away with all those layers, stay amply warm and feel less constricted in your swing. Wearing a toque (Canadian) is a must too.
      Ultimately, you gotta do what works for you.
      Big fan of your content. Stay warm (and dry).

    • @yourgolftravel
      @yourgolftravel  6 лет назад

      Cheers bruh! All the comment section coaches tell me to shorten my swing so maybe all those layers will help! ;-)

    Must keep those shoes clean. ESPECIALLY if they're white!

    • @yourgolftravel
      @yourgolftravel  6 лет назад +1

      True that Joe. I had played the week before and my clubs air compressor was bust so I was lazy and just hid them away pretending they weren't still covered in mud! ;-)

    • @joeperez3520
      @joeperez3520 6 лет назад +1

      First thing I do after pulling into the driveway and lugging everything out of the car, is to walk my shoes over to the garden hose and give them a good shower (turning them upside down so no water gets inside. Of course, I freely admit that when it comes to keeping my stuff clean, I'm three rungs on the ladder above anal-retentive. They don't call me "The Parking Lot Pro" for nothing!

    • @yourgolftravel
