  • Not my guitars, I only put new strings on and refined the action.
    Great sustain with a screwed neck!

    This is nuts.. Takes a lot of balls to compare these two instruments in a head to head comparison.. Seems like a lot of players need to sac up and keep woodshedding until they pull the tone out, and enjoy the fruits of their manual labor.. 😜😆😆😆

    It´s a question of knowing what you´re doing.
    Personally I would buy this baby, set it up carefully and upgrade the hardware, electronics and pickups.
    Put it through a Peavey Classic 30 with a good speaker in it, stick a DOD 250 Preamp Overdrive in front of it and sound like Gary Moore.
    Use a well set up Squier with Duncan YJM Furys in it and sound like Yngwie Malmsteen.
    Learn to play like them.
    Job done.
    What a glorious day that will be.

    You seem to be having a great time with a relatively inexpensive guitar (especially compared to that Killer strat you have!)
    I showed this to some friends who believed you had to have $1000.00 + in a guitar to sound good. Thanks for dispelling that myth!
    Keep up the great work!

  • @randtotheboone4897
    @randtotheboone4897 4 года назад +1

    Good comparison, Thanks
    Epi sounds more dynamic recorded at this room volume. IMO
    The cheaper pickups probably not potted? Got that gritty sound.
    Gibson pickups probably sound better for standing in front of a loud amp, because
    wax potted to reduce microphonic noise?
    I could be wrong. I've owned a few of these, that's my observation.
    Epi LP special is a bang for the buck, if you find one with good neck.

      Thank you!
      Those 2 guitars belong to a friend of mine.
      Maybe with better pickups they sound fuller.
      I think they are potted, no problems with unwanted feedbacks.

      The LE or LTD Special 2 is limited edition. Solid Alder body. If it is Special 2 non-limited it has a laminate mahogany body. LTD should have a mahogany neck and rosewood fret board. The non-limited may have a maple neck. Some say Special on the head board. The Special-II LE/LTD has the Les Paul Signature.

    • @mattguitarwater
      @mattguitarwater  6 лет назад +1

      Hi Chris, It is the balance between the curvature of the neck and the height of the bridge.
      The quality of the instruments is not bad. A good guitar tech can fixed it. All the best, Matt

    • @striveforbetterhereandnow
      @striveforbetterhereandnow 5 лет назад

      If the low E is touching the first fret, you should start by "raising" the "bridge." Adjusting the stop bar will only affect the tension of the strings. Do a search on RUclips for adjusting action on Tunamatic bridges for more information. I hope this helps.

    • @mattguitarwater
      @mattguitarwater  4 года назад +2

      Hi Christian, it´s important, which style of music you prefer, the Epiphones have humbucker pickups with a more mellow and fatter sound, the Telecaster with single coil pickups have a brighter sound with less output.
