    Written and composed by Roger Waters, the track opens with jerky mechanical noises that quickly plunge the listener into a dark, oppressive atmosphere. Then, at the end of the first verse, a relatively long instrumental section begins, during which you can imagine the speaker revealing all the "machinery" to the listener. The length of this section only serves to emphasise the extent of the Machine's power. Finally, following the second verse, the track ends in a sad, melancholy instrumental, describing the irrevocable nature of the process.

      I like the weird little staccato string synth part at the very end before the outro montage. It sounds really digital and cold and sinister compared to the Moog parts, which to me sound like something mechanical flying around and watching. Maybe something like a drone? Just like you said in the end of the song it sounds irrevocable, like the machine is already in control and doing damage. The lyrics, sound design, arrangement and production on this song are kind of unsettling in the context of the song itself.

    Ah Pink Floyd, the soundtrack of many a "trip". The psychedelic sound had its roots in Syd Barrett RIP

    This song just puts me somewhere else. Between knowing I was introduced to the machine, and introducing my kids to it. Damn.

    i have always loved at the end of each verse where he sings welcome to the machine ,right after the final word you hear a small groan of resignation- outstanding

    Syd Barrett left the band and the "Machine "( Music industry) by to much acid. Listen to "Shine on you crazy diamonds" is the real story about Syd and their lost of a friend

    You're listening to music, yet you have a hood between your ears and the headphones, if you are into music why would you do that?

    • @seanmoran9383
      @seanmoran9383 2 месяца назад

      I play games with my hood under my headset and both the music and even slight sounds like footsteps are a lot easier to hear than youd think, it doesnt dampen the sound at all depending what kinda clothing it is so im guessing he can hear it just fine
