@AccidentalGenius 7 Oda doesn't even specialise in bridding, he is a risk fighter, and he is still one of the best bridders in the game. I honestly believe he could of made the semis or the final if there wasn't any lag. Best pker in the game imo, guy got robbed and it triggered me hard. Jagex need to re-run the finals, so many good pkers good robbed of 3 weeks of their lives and shit loads of 07 gp.

Tournament was an absolute shit show. Between people getting randomly pushed out of fights and kicked out, everyone qualifying, people dying in the lobby, and of course the lag with no pauses.
To the people saying it’s not Jagex’s fault with the lag, and the “server UK ISP downtime” on Reddit, etc. Read this.
After talking this over with several other developers / even network admins - they’ve all came to the same conclusion this was likely due to poor formatting of grouping 500 people near each other in fights along with the new addition of sigil effects constantly procing off.
512 people doing multiple actions at the same time + multiple animated objects = a bad time
Also weren’t the finals hosted in US east? They still lagged there, and were they not even worse? They should be running on cloud servers so this shouldn't have been an issue related to the outages. Also why weren't other UK servers lagging if this was the case?
Even Activision (who owns COD posted up here) hasn't reported a public issue for 3 days on their site here: \*back to the 15th of September

& They always notify when a very detrimental issue such as an entire region goes down. There was only about 70 reports on the downmeter meaning the problem could have been extremely localized to one group of people's ISP in a small area. Extremely unreliable measurement. Even Jagex themselves said they suffered DDOSing not ISP Downtime? It wasn’t either. The same exact lag was reported in beta but they pushed the tournament through once again.
Not to mention if you look at world DDOSing such as Lizard Squad attacks in 2015 and Oda Staking Streams in 2019 - the servers would just kick people off and then reconnect them, over and over again. Once causing Oda to lose an entire stake. These prior DDOS attacks to me looks more of like a lag you would witness when your personal internet starts dropping. What I saw was contradictory to this in the tournament and looks like what I've seen in the 2019 world crashes and the recent Gudi video on the ones from 2021, everyone was lagging and ticks weren't registering / no entire disconnects as seen with previous downtime and targeted DDOS attacks.
Once again these lags also happened in both DMM final betas and Jagex was made aware, but they went ahead with the tournament anyways. It looks like this is definitely something more to do with possible the way the tournament was laid out with the close proximity of players, possibly even the introduction of sigils and the game engine needing to calculate much more procing slowed the engine down since it was already struggling.
My 2 cents. This game is actually somehow becoming more and more of a shit show and they need to start prioritizing integrity over pumping out mass updates with related ad campaigns if they want longevity and integrity in the game.

whats insane is how despite the event being the biggest shitshow in esports history, you still managed to have an entertaining stream for 50k+ viewers, dwarfing the official osrs channel where they have casters and all the insider tools etc of jmods but their peak entertainment was laughing at a level 40 mith scim guy vs 126 raid boss and replaying that 50 times which was just sad really

Honestly this hits deep when he was venting at the end you can feel the emotion and pride being stripped away 😩🙁
The viewer base was huge, DMM has potential.
- They need to remove questing, or prehaphs shortern or have a unlock cap
- They need gear cap to prevent feeders/advantage pkers that the regular pker/solo's cant compete with
- Increase all drop loots, so people have multiple sets to pk with and dont spend so much time grinding/struggling
- Remove 3x death system
- Bring back regain death system, but just make it much easier than before ( this will allow people to keep playing and prevent raggers )
This will actually make it more of a PvP Mode and its needed because Rs has nothing like this and pking is dead other than DMM, but DMM is not hitting its potential because they need 'correct' changes, I only login for DMM.
Tons of quests auto unlocked as you reached new combat bracket.
3 death system is also great IMO, it adds real risk, not just gear that people who are being fed can easily replace.

I live for those moments were O clutches up and gets hype because it gives you goosebumps. When it’s out of your control and not your fault, everything you’ve worked so hard for goes to waste. It’s no surprise to see Jagex not take ownership and try to dismiss it as a ‘network attack’ when they should’ve expected this could happen. Thank you O, amazing effort despite the BS. The DMM content this tourney and the past 4 years was amazing, I enjoyed every single bit.
I've played since 2004, have multiple maxed/pseudo-maxed PvP builds, and have played in every DMM they've ever had except for two of them. Not even being dramatic, I've decided to quit the game for at least a year or two, if not for good. Jagex doesn't care about their players as a whole, but they care even less about PvPers...you know, the whole point of the fucking game when it came out in RSC (you could challenge people everywhere, super early on PvP was enabled everywhere too).

On a serious note this was beyond pitiful and this is no excuse but there aren’t many game devs and companies that really care about the consumer anymore…as long as they get paid with there loot boxes transactions that riddle every game now. The sad part is RuneScape grew in a era where this doesn’t exist but they made so much money out of RS3 that’s they said why get rid of the game we will make millions. Not to bash the RS3 community I’m just saying we all deserve better. Until the gaming community really does something about this wether it be protest/boycott the game, or anything for that matter. They will continue to do this. I also think it would take some of the big idols/you tubers/streamers in the community of the game to stand first and lead these communities but I understand they make a living of the game so to stop playing or make a scene like this could be harmful to them. Sad what games have come to…
