    The true genius of Boston Celtics is how they were able to build this team. 4 stars and the unmatchable depth. They basicallt just replaces williams and smart with jrue and kristap without breaking the team.or losing depth. While other teams would either break the bank or sell their future just to get a couple of stars. So unfair

    I think a paradigm shift is needed. Perhaps its time to stop looking at d.white as 1 of the supporting cast and look at him as the legit 3rd star (especially with KP out).
    D.white has been the celtics MVP this 1st round and if the celtics want to keep pushing for quick series ends, they would be wise to make d.white as the #1 option. Hes on a tear. We are seeing playoff white. The Js are better off now as secondary scorers/decoys and focusing on defense while letting white cook.

    • @TheRobversion1
      @TheRobversion1 Месяц назад +2

      @@josephrafferty6763 nope. I'm.not. the point here is opposing teams will always put their best defenders on the Js. Rather than the Js having to beat that, why not put the ball in the hands of the best decision maker and make him the #1 option? if the pass is the right read, he'll make it. If its to dominate that weaker matchup, he will. And of course, would an opposing team risk sending someone to double white off the Js? nope. Hence, thats why i said a paradigm shift is needed and that d.white should be the #1 option. He has the capability of scoring as a #1 option while taking on the 3rd or worse defender of the opposing team.
      I think its you who is conflating being a #1 option as being the best player on the team.

    • @josephrafferty6763
      @josephrafferty6763 Месяц назад

      @TheRobversion1 OK. But is that being the number 1 option or is it being the guy with the ball in their hands (i.e. a more traditional PG role?)
      Edit: if the latter, I absolutely agree, btw. I've been saying for a while that they should use Tatum and Brown as the off-ball scorers/secondary ball handlers they really are. They're legit wings, not massive PGs like Lebron James. But I don't think that makes them not the #1 and #2 options.

    • @TheRobversion1
      @TheRobversion1 Месяц назад +1

      @@josephrafferty6763 its the same. Basically, its put the ball in the hands of your best decision maker, playmaker and by virtue of having a weaker defender on him, would be the most efficient scorer on the team as well.
      A number 1 option is who you go to primarily. I'd go to d white primarily if he has the 3rd or worse defender on him and i trust him to score 8/10 times over that player (as evidenced by his 70+ TS in the miami series).
      I'd also advocate using the Js more off-ball. More screening and cutting actions. I look at them as primary scoring options as long as they have weaker defenders on them. I dont consider JB a primary playmaker. JT has been great at this role but not as good as d.white. he still takes too long to process at times and slows the pace down.
      Heres my hot take: all things being equal (meaning all 3 have the same defender on them), i'd rank them this way: JT>white>JB. yes, i'd put JB behind white. Not only because whites been on a heater but JBs been in a slump recently efficiency wise:
      1. below 50% FT every game. He misses at least 2 FTs a game.
      2. shooting slump on 3.
      3. shooting slump from mid-range.
      Only thing hes been doing well is scoring near the basket though he has done this in a variety of ways (post-up, drives, cuts).
