Can we respect the fact that Izzy wrote a huge chunk of this song including the first half of that killer solo. One of the most underrated guitarist of the era in my opinion
Love Izzy. It’s so unfortunate however that’s he’s not written anything amazing since leaving GNR in the 90’s. I truly wish he’d come back on strange and join the band once more.
I was amazed back then that there was a kick ass song about my favorite adult beverage. The label on Night Train at the time was a head on view of the engine in Raiders silver and black. We took years off of our lives drinking that swill and smoking Magna cigarettes, but it was a fun time to be young.
This was the real Gnr Prime and it was at their peak. 87-88 gnr was the real deal at that time. everyone was young energetic and other than that this was the ORIGINAL MEMBERS. God how i miss Adam and Izzy presence. it's still different when this two is a member. 90-92 was kind mehh they are still great and they've become matured at that year but you can see and feel that energy was the never the same when Adam and Izzy left.
I saw GnR open up for Motley Crue Dec 1987. BLEW MY MIND!!! I was 15! So grateful I grew up before the "pussification of America" (after 2007ish) ! THE 80's ROCKED!! 🤘
Man I feel sorry for bands like Motley Crue, Iron Maiden, Aerosmith, The Cult and Megadeth that had to follow Guns n' Roses in those early days. Even Metallica had the good sense to go on first.
In a world that he did not create, but he would go through it as if it was his own making, half man half beast, I’m not sure what it is, but whatever it is it’s weird and it’s pissed off, and it calls itself Slash. 0:50
Matt Sorum was a great fit for Velvet Revolver, I’ll give him that. But I’m sorry to say that he simply never worked as a drummer for GnR, in my opinion. Steven had a certain unmistakeable groove and flow to his drumming that elevated the sound of the whole band. The quality of the music took a big nosedive after he was fired. I understand why he was fired, I’m just saying, it was a shame. Sorum sounded too much like a metronome. Too static. I would even go so far as to say that he was boring, even if he was technically skilled. The death blow, of course, happened when Izzy quit. Not only did he co-write MANY of the songs, but when Gilby was playing with them, you couldn’t even hear his guitar at all. Compare that with this video, where you can clearly hear Izzy and Slash separately. That lead/rhythm guitar duality was just as important in GnR as it was in AC/DC. Gilby may as well have not even been there and you wouldn’t even hear the difference. Just watch the 1992 Tokyo Dome show: All you can hear is Slash. It just doesn’t sound right. GNR were really only good from 1986 - 1990, maybe 1991. After that, they were a shell of their former selves. Steven and Izzy leaving completely fucked up the original sound and vibe that made them so special. Again, I understand why it all happened. Steven was a massive heroin addict and Izzy couldn’t stand what Axl was becoming and also was uncomfortable with how massive the band had become and all the chaos that was going along with it. This band simply was never destined to last long. It’s amazing they lasted as long as they did. They sure left us with some great tracks though.
Guess Slash introduced it because it was ( is ) his favorite song to play live . It’s a great rock song. Read the books if you have a chance. They tell about how they wrote a lot of the songs it’s pretty cool they would be hanging out and someone would sing something like a joke lyric. That’s how nightrain someone said I’m on the night train and Axl said love that stuff they were hanging out drinking like a lot of us do at that age except they crafted their little inside joke/jingles into the finest rock n roll album of all time . Appetite is the album that started it all for me at least .
Steven Adler should be honored for the years he put his foot through the drums night after night. Funny as fuck the editing in it lol Axl was breaking himself. Ready to crash and burn!!!!
The fact that they made a song like this because of that cheap shit they were drinking is amazing. Just how little they needed for inspiration to make great music.
Last guitar solo it doesn’t have any sense. It seems slash work just on the musical scale, and don’t think about chords at all. A lot of guitar players in the rock 80s / 90s does this mistake. I use to like it as teenager. But today it sounds a bit idiot to me
Kkkkkkk oloco. Eu recém comecei a escutar rock então n posso falar mt mas eu acho eles mt bons. Nirvana tbm acho incrível. Mal conheço outras bandas pq me concentro em umas duas primeiro ai escuto tudo e passo pra proxima. Alguma recomendaçao?

Exactly. He was the key to the whole operation. They had it when he was there...lost it when he left

It’s amazing what these guys wrote and played so while only in their early 20’s!
...Steve Adler is a power machine...no one can play drums like him...feeling,timing and raw power💯💫✨😎
The most energetic drummer in rock history
Of the many, many great Slash solos, Nightrain is my favorite.
Me too. 🤘🎸
Absolutely right. Who else has the luxury to just fade out on such a masterpiece
Izzy straddlin rhythm in this song is what mAkes this song

Yes it's fucking true
Izzy even said that the sound of Guns N Roses wasn't the same when Steven left
Whos Adam?
adam?
@@AlobytesOgniddove maybe he means steven, Steven adler does look like an Adam.
I had to come here after seeing the Tokyo '92 version, which was so flat. GnR was, is, and will always be these 5 people.
To be fair, most appetite songs are flat in the tokyo show, you should check out argentina '93 version of nightrain, its so powerful
The way he describes Slash is exactly how my dog acts all the time 🐺🐺🐺

@@Banana_Split_Cream_Buns except Nirvana. Guns asked if they could open up for them, but Kurt Cobain refused and called Axl out for being a diva
God bless you 😢
This is the peak. The Illusion albums had some good stuff but this incarnation of the band is the best.
Iconiic concert before they were big and had egos, fucking awesome man, blew me away at 14 when i saw this, just like wow!
my favourite gnr song of all time

A spectacular window into how they sounded live that year. Thanks for posting something almost impossible to convey!
Best band ever... Axl is such a giant Artist... Lucky we that we could listen to this at that time...
i love Izzy at this time

He used to improvise for them mostly and he was very out there at this particular show so maybe that why it’s very messy.
