Keep it as Celsius, Fahrenheit makes no sense. At least with Celsius you know if it's a low number it's cold and vice versa.
Also, if you can, quickly try to get 8 iron powder to make 2 iron dust and get 2 ingots. Make shears and shear a bunch of leaves from a tree. Craft a wooden barrel and pack in the leaves (instead of using saplings) to turn it into dirt to make more dirt. Then, craft an empty bottle and 1 dirt into a dirty water bottle. You can cook those and make fresh water. Dirt is super important for you.
Or make a bucket, fill it with the fluid transposer and make a 1x1 space to fill your bottles
That will become salty water too i tink
It does become salty water. It's not that easy.
J Birch apparently if its not touching dust, and is under y:46 it turns into dirty water instead.
Hmm, if that's true it may be worth just digging a hole under the ship. It'd at least save a bunch of useful dirt.
Genny don't be discouraged if it looks grim! You have all of our support and we are all loving this new series. The hardcore makes you feel like the game is more like it's real life so you don't go jumping off cliffs thinking "I'll respawn" Keep it up, I am also doing this modpack and will help however I can.
For the imperial system fools:
36 C = 96.8 F
37 C = 98.6 F
38 C = 100.4 F
39 C = 102.2 F
40 C = 104 F
While I do agree with the fact that the metric system Is simpler temperature is not easy in either of them and there's a visual.
Jackson Steal Hehe true, its just too easy of a subject to get ppl up in arms about to not make a remark about it :p
***** and you forgot to add the temperature of when you die in this pack.
Cold
You should change the temperature scale. I suggest Kelvin so neither Celsius and Fahrenheit win.
Agree, even though it doesn't matter what it is read in because well those stats are for the player not the viewers :P
And the fact that there is a visual scale, and the numbers aren't _really_ needed. Green is good, Red is hot, and blue is cold.
Lol, but then the scientists do, and that would make us all cry.
The nostalgia is so real!! My first ever modded Minecraft series and what got me in to your channel.
This mod pack is unforgiving, but once you have shears, it'll be a lot easier.
It's been a few weeks since last time I played it, but I think shearing leaves still drops saplings, puting leafs in the fluid transposer it'll generate 100mB (if I'm not mistaken) and may leave a sapling as a sub-product.
As energy source you could use the survivalist generator.
With the water problem solved, it'll be a lot easier to do the other quests, inclunding the exploration ones, which are very cool.
Congratulations on the new series, I hope you are enjoying this as much as I am!
Just a tip you can use transfer nodes for easy harvest on cobblestone! make a 3x1 and the order goes lava, cobble, water. the transfer node goes on top of the cobble and you basically just put a barrel above the transfer node.
YES!! Rime of the Ancient Mariner quote! We had to do a play for that in English class last year.
Water water, everywhere, so the boards did shrink.
Water water, everywhere, and not a drop to drink.
You've got some good taste in poetry Genny! "Rime of the the ancient mariner" is one of my favorite poems. :D
To make it easier, you can make a cobblestone generator by digging a tunnel under your base from the leaked water to the fuel. You can minr the cobble with a tinkers construct pickaxe made out of bonemeal.
Once you have mined some stone you can make a furnace and cou can grab some clay near the water outside your base (you can make more clay later) and that way you can make a clay bucket and move the fuel and the water to make a better cobblestone generator.
To make a lot of food, i recommend pam's harvestcraft. To plant seeds from that mod, you'll need more dirt. To make dirt, put 8 saplings or 8 leaves in a barrel.
To make a lot of water, make some shears and grow some trees. Take all the leaves and put them in the fluid transposer. This way you don't need to grow tons of trees, and this way you can get a couple of bottles of water from every tree.
I also recommend making all your tools at the beginning with tinkers construct. Using bones is the best option.
Genny, a quick tip to help a bit with your food situation: Craft one of those apples you had at the end of the video with an oak sapling. This turns them into a Pam's Harvestcraft apple sapling. When grown into a tree, this produces infinite apples! Just be careful not to place it too close to your other trees, or you might accidentally destroy the leaf blocks supporting apple growth. XD
Also, if you want to make things from leather (Tinkers' Construct knapsacks, a hang glider, armor, whatever) this pack has a mod that lets you smelt rotten flesh in a furnace to turn it into leather. An additional use for rotten flesh, is you can stick ten in a barrel to get it full, and compost into a dirt block!
I just started reading "Ready Player One". When I saw this title it made me smile.
***** it's a great book :)
Generikb Love that book!
same
I really like this series! Keep up the good work Genny.
I like hearing destruction outside. please don't stop it!
I replay this pack at least once a year, and forgot how to make vswe's sieve so I searched for it and found your playlist again lol.
I really want to make a modern version of this pack, with all of the new additions to vanilla in the past 8 years. And with terraforming tools. I'll boop you on twitch if I ever finish making it. :)
love the series so far can't see what is next
I'm glad to see this series continued. My 2 cents; make TiCon tools using bone meal. And maybe cobblegen?
If you screw over again genny then try the following things.
Dig the pit around the yellow-black blocks like 2x2.
Don't focus on water the first day. Just chop down atleast 3 trees and build your basic Tinker Construct stuff with it.
Aaaafter you the sun is about to fall get in and start sifting alot of the dust and do the first quests.
When it's about to get day make yourself a frying pan. This will help you get rid of the creepers and spiders that are still left in the pit that you made on the first day..this way you get alot of zombie flesh, bones sometimes spider eyes and other good rare drops. From here try to go along the quest line and get your water/food production going.
And if you can make a slab furnaces first for the quest. After that it gets very easy :D
If you want a quick way to get a ton of dust is to go really far down (staircase) and use a wooden pressure plate like you would a torch to remove gravel. Very quick dust and you can make rooms so you can grow trees during night. Just remember to make a tall enough roof using wood slabs to keep the ghasts out!
Watching you dig your trench with the silkworm = hysterical
This is more than filling the hole in my heart left by the end of Agrarian Skies. :)
No one:
Not a soul:
Not one being:
GenerkB: [Mines a trench with a silkworm]
Remembered my first time seeing generik b I randomly clicked on a bdubs video and it was the one where they fought the wither on top of the neither had me laughing so hard with he commentary and antics I immediately subscribed been laughing my ass off ever since he's a top bloke
If you do the first day with a plan and on easy path you can get a full set of tinkers tools using the bone meal, a stone furnace from the pyrothium and the salt water, a survivalist generator. The second day you can get a clay bucket and set up a cobble gen, also a basic trench. I recomend you run this on other saves just to read the recipes for food.
Oh, also, another tip to make farming wood and other tree-based things early game, if you have to restart again: The "Sapping the Saplings" quest just calls for a bucket's worth of water, it doesn't care where that water comes from. So if, once the fluid transposer and quest delivery system are all set up to empty things into the QDS, you put a water bottle into the transposer, that'll complete the quest in one go, as a bottle contains an entire bucket's worth of water. :P Saves quite a lot of saplings, that way.
is a blast watching, hope your having fun :D
*smiles happily* I just knew you would tackle this with your usual lets Wreck this thing attitude :D
If you go out early enough the spiders will but I don't think they will if its a bit later in the day I keep getting ambushed when they jump off the roof onto me but I think they are already agroed from night
I think you should leave it at Celsius. Most of the world uses C over F and its really not that hard to convert in your head the aprox temp. Im American BTW. Also Genny could you please try to fill your glass bottles with the source block outside? IDK if it works in this pack but it would be SO much easier than using the fluid transposer.
subbed man I love crash landing still after all these years
GennyB! Watch out for the single spawning location directly under the /hqm quest sign. It has a chance of spawning mobs inside your ship at night, best to put the crafting table or something there.
There are lunar eclipses so your first statement was OK. :)
Another great episode.
BTW, you can steal some cobble for the road to make an early furnace. Walking that far should despawn the mobs too.
I love it so much!!!! I don't care what you do. I just want you to keep doing this!!!!!!!!!
Stick to Celsius Genny. The metric system is used everywhere in the world but the United States. Even the Germans have given up on Fahrenheit for the efficiency and straightforwardness of the metric system.
Example:
Without a calculator,
How many inches, feet and yards are in 371.45 miles? Take your time.
Now how many centimeters millimeters and meters are in 371.24 kilometers? Move the decimal point to the right the appropriate amount of spaces for the answer.
Everything is easier in metric.
Choosing the easy path does not make you smarter. It just keeps you from using your brain. Sorry you can't deal with large numbers and Fractions. Mer'ca
While I agree that the metric system is MUCH easier to use, a very large majority of Genny's audience don't know the metric system very well. (they may know boiling point and freezing, but not resting body temperature for example). For this reason it would be logical for Genny to change to Fahrenheit.
The only problem with that is - none of that applies to temperature, which is what the context of your argument should have been based around.
Jisto11 But, judging by the average temperature presented in the mod pack when he is at a safe temperature, one can tell that the resting body temp presented in this game is approximately 36-37 degrees Celsius. Just a heads up. Still, the viewer stats are a valid reason for changing to Fahrenheit. In my opinion, leave it how it is. Being in Celsius fits the theme of a crash landing from space. In space, we all use metric, whether we're american or Russian, or whatever else.
Look it really does not matter if its one or the other its very easy to convert it in your head.
I like this series so far genny!
If i'm honest uncle genny, I do love this series but i'm my opinion, the start is to way too difficult, my favourite ever RUclips series was agrarian skies and i'm glad your playing this mod pack and help me too play it and not die XD, please continue this series Genny 3 thnx for reading
Genny, you can make a cobble generator with the pyrotheum as lava. If you want to keep the pyrotheum use a iron bucket a clay one will turn it into lava.
For those who are confused with Celsius and Fahrenheit.
36,6 degrees Celsius is a normal body temperature, at 42 degrees Celsius protein in blood begins to coagulate and human dies (if your inner body temperature rises to that point), at 100 degrees Celsius water begins to boil.
No need to convert it all the time, just FYI the range of temperatures to orient a bit.
Genny you could put an apple and an oak sapling together to make an apple tree! that could help with more food options! As always you are making some great videos!
Love this series Genny! Keep it up!
I had to stop watching your last video and have a go at this mod myself. Love it. Great idea for a series.
btw, make sure to make a furnace and then a pair of shears as soon as possible. Getting water from leaves is much more efficient than getting water from saplings. A single tree will fill up the fluid transposer.
p.s. I'm not American so I have to vote for Celsius :P
Well done Generikb! So far you haven't crashed and burned!
Hey Genny, you should get some Tinkers Construct tools made out of bones! But use bonemeal instead of bones, because 2 bonemeal is equal to 1 bone and you can get 3 bonemeal from a single bone. And, I think mattock is the most damage dealing melee tool made with bones (you can't craft TC swords with bones just in like Agrarian Skies). ;)
frying pan has knock back
Jim Fox and can be used to cook
it can but I never take it out of hot bar, never know when a tough spider will come along. lol
If you shear leaves, and put them in a fired crucible(the clay one) it boils them into water. Also shearing leaves still give you saplings! Hope this helps! Ps, combine one apple and one sapling to get early food farm!
WELP looks like I know what I'm about to go play for endless amounts of hours now! Check on me in a few days and make sure I'm okay.... or have at least showered!
good luck. :)
I died 6 times....... i pratictily gave up now xD i ran outside for too long and the heat wouldnt stop even with all that ice water
U OK ?
Much better start this time with less derping around good job :D
For a starter Mob trap, I just dug 4 holes 2 deep at the front of the ship and took out the diagonal purple blocks so i could just collect a bunch of stuff in the morning when they had finished burning up. I didn't even have to leave the ship!
genny this map is actually really fun and addicting and its great to watch you play it... :D dont give up if you die a lot... xD
Genny! You can make oak barrels and use your extra saplings to make extra dirt!
Here is a tip an apple and a sapling make an apple sapling from growth craft it grows apples which hang off the leaves :)
Build trench at the front of ship too as those are also windows. It catches a lot of the mobs. I also made one on right & left of entrance to keep mobs from coming at you from side & made wall on top of ship by door to keep spiders from easily dropping down.
Genny.
I am playing this modpack too and i have noticed that mobs go towards the light! Try to use this to make mob farms.
Love NZ
iñaki zab interesting thanks for the tip!
***** Which he said :P
It's actually sound they are attracted to in the mod pack
Do you have "Zombie Awareness" turned on as suggested by the hard way? One of it's features makes it so that mobs are attracted to light sources. A Light centered mob farm may not work for Genny unless he has it on, or the modpack has another mod that causes mobs to go towards the light regardless of ZA.
Wow that ad went so good with the mod pack xD "Mickey Mouse : Stayin' Cool"
Whole world of safety under the ship.. digs trench of impending doom. :P
I use Celsius but I don't mind if you want to change to Fahrenheit. liking very much the show so far! go hermit! sift dat dust!
If u played this with someone else (if possible) It would be awesome, BTC is playing it aswell. Love seeing this series, hope u continue for a long time
Another good use for the fuel is heating the crucible over the source block. I don't know if it is as good as lava once you make it, or netherack, but it is much better than heating it with a torch.
Don't eat until your food bar is wobbling, this gives you extra golden haunches that are wasted if you eat a whole bunch in a row.
hey Genny, if you are careful you can use the "fuel" outside and the water source beside your "base" to make some cobblestone. Once you get enough cobble you can make the slab furnace then get the clay under the water source and make a clay bucket then you can set up a cobble gen. Do the water first so you don't lose the bucket, cause you will lose it using it on the fuel which becomes lava.
Also once you decide you want to check out the cities I'd suggest using the glider and a platform high up, save you having to run there in the heat. Rope ladder comes in handy! :)
on my game it didnt change. Not sure why. I moved it and it melts cobble faster.
yeah when I first did it it stayed as the fuel, but I died and in the next one it did change to lava. I'm not sure at the rate the fuel melts it but lava does it at .02mb and a torch does .01mb
I think but not positive but fuel is .07. Every time I restart it acts different.
yeah .07 and lava is .02 and torch is .01
Im watching this in 2016 and there are many memories.
Genny, I tried playing this and I found that your waterpack will last longer if you take it off when you don't need it. If you keep it on all the time, it'll drain the water you placed in it very quickly. It'll help conserve the water in the waterpack.
Ready, Player one!!! The references are real
thanks for making great videos gb
Nice! You get the mood for this mod pack. :-)
hey Genny gotta say l'm so excited to see you playing this mod pack
l'm looking forward to seeing what you do. agrarian skies was a ball and l'm so happy this is here now.
btw please for the love of all that is beautiful never switch to Fahrenheit. As someone who used to work with the physics community, the amount of problem's we've had with people who stick to that out dated system l've come to hate it with a passion.
Please don't encourage it's continued use
stay frosty
Maybe You can use a wooden pressure plate to break falling dust just like gravel, you'll dig faster and use less water/food
THank you so much this is one of best series keep it up
For an early weapon, go for a bone mattock, does the same damage as an iron sword, and will two hit a creeper. Don't make vanilla tools and weapons as they have a durability of 1.
You should make an apple tree sapling out of one of your oak saplings and an apple, get a reliable source of food other than zombie jerky
Swimming in the water outside the door will cool you a little.
Granny don't block up the pyrotheum, use a crucible over it filled with leaves and fluiducts coming out to make water
Lol I was just yelling at my screen saying, Go Genny! go Genny!!!
Which one is it? Telling or saying?
To any of those who are feeling sad or depressed:
Be who you are, you are one of a kind and special in your own way. Remember, love who you are.
You have many people who love you and care for you. None of them would want to see you sad or unhappy.
To any of those with sad or depressed friends:
Reach out to them, make sure they are happy, and make them feel special and loved.
-Mega Chocolate
after playing this modpack and restarted 3-4 times, I suggest a tip for you! crucible, leaf blocks, and dirt! go figure :)
I find it useful to just make a break for it when there's a clearing in the mobs. Then walk 32 or so blocks away and the mobs despawn :)
I think if you put Rotten Flesh on a drying rack you can get Monster Jerky. Which does not have any negative effects.
Honestly, Celsius is better because it shows the true temperature. In low numbers that is... It's more accurate.
Build a little enclosed space right outside of the entrance, so that the mobs are not as much of a problem
You are replying to everybody :D If you have the time you should do this more often! The people seem to like it!
The black cobble from the road can be used to make slabs for a furnace.
Just a tip!Use the water and Pyrothium (fuel) to make a cobble gen.
Genny, please combine one apple with one oak sapling to make an apple tree. After that, grow it and you get infinite apples!
Good luck Genny!
genny, place a water source at y46 and pick up water with a bottle from the source. It will be dirty water when you pick it up, and you can smelt it for normal water.
Generikb if you sift sand and obtain a cactus seed u can make a cactus farm which provides food and water CHECK the recipe of a filled water bottle
Its realy key to get your half slab furnace (doesnt emit heat) and two iron to get shears. which you can extract water from in the fluid transposer. youll be good for water then. also check out vswe's channel he has a pretty awesome auto sieve design using steves factory manager. so glad you didnt quit :)
Generikb don't forget you can use rotten flash for dirt as well as food
If it's possible to obtain iron, try making a bucket and filling it with water with the fluid transposer. Place the water down somewhere, and you can right-click the source block with bottles to get an infinite amount of water.
It's a biome thing from the mod Enviromine, any water placed in the biome is going to be saltwater so you have to just do things the hard way.
Decirium apparently I heard if its under y46 and is not touching dust it will turn into dirty waydr from a transposer, meaning its easier? I think..
Yeah, I heard that the same day I commented, just not tested it yet so didn't want find I'd lied. I've got a nice 2 floor 9x9 farm which I've got enough spare food to use most of it for composting and I've semi-automated a furnace to clean the water. I'd feel it's a waste of effort after doing all that to start using that method but I might test it when I've got more automation on my world.
What a great video GenericB. I truly enjoyed myself! Can't wait for the rest. And please give us Europeans the Celsius. It's time the US started to use some simpler measurements :-)
Keep it up, love from a grown man.
Oh wow. I really fucked up your name, didn't I...
For people who don't understand Celsius, 0 C is freezing, and 100 C is boiling. From this it's pretty easy to figure out how hot it is. 36 C is really hot but in this mod is about average.
36 c is you average body temperature, its not hot
v zhang Internal body temperature. If it is 36 degrees outside of your body, you can definitely feel the heat.
Slowrider8 I live at a place were it's 35C everyday.
Bob I live where the average temp is 37C and it's humid as F***.
Randomyou101 Me too I hate humidity were i live it's 98% humidity.
There is a road to the left of the crash that leads to runes with chests but remember to set way point at crash and there are mob spawners
Rime of the ancient mariner! water, water ;)
hes taking it more proffesionally this time around
Love your stuff
I love this pack!!!
Keep temperature Celsius. Although I like the idea of Kelvin. Always good to bend the brain a bit.
Take 2 and... ACTION!
I think you can also make water with sheared leaves in either the crucible, or a stone barrel over a heat source. And once ya have a hammer, you can turn cobble to gravel straight from the cobble generator. Way faster. (EDIT) Weren't ya using the bone crook last time? That's for getting more seeds from long grass I think.
7:58 - Aw man, that poor silkworm!
Always remember, there's mud water you can drink!
