Hey, maybe you can burry a 2x4 under the door to work like a threshold, may help keep predators digging under , cheers. Oh, and maybe a harbor freight shade awning for roof.
Andy I can't wait to see the chickens go in their new home. You guys take such good care of your farm and the animals and knowing how to build things saves a lot of money. It doesn't have to be perfect so long as the animals enjoy it. I'm glad you're putting something over the top to help protect the chickens. Take care and have a good week.
If you don’t want to put a roof on that, just run a strand of electric around the top to keep things from climbing over put it down on the sides about 4 inches down from the top
You guys are a great family. I enjoy just watching whats happening every day. Maggie helping Andy, reminds me of how I used to help my dad. Keep doing what you are doing, lol.
I like yall's new chicken coop & the chickens gonna love those big grubs. Tiger was on supervisor duty again, I think approving yall's work😂. Andy I think Maggie was supervising you on the closing of the gate😅. That sunset was so pretty & yall have a peaceful looking homestead. I really enjoyed this video & seeing all the animals ready for their supper . It's sweet how Candy goes into her stall to eat her food. I hope y'all have a good weekend & looking forward to see what Monday's video is about. Whatever it is, I know it'll be a goodin.
Every time I watch you guys I wish I was there with you! You are such wholesome, happy people. You have 2 adorable children with really nice manners..good job you guys! I love your homestead..so pretty and well maintained...it is a beautiful home❤..love your channel!!
I'm no door builder andy but the one flap on the hinges needs to be on the inside of the door you might find that works better just saying😊 i would also just get some netting.Like fish netting and put it the full length and width of that chicken co-op.They can't get in that way, especially not the Hawks.Or eagles whatever you might have out there
A hawk or a owl which they hunt rate at dusk and dawn can easily pick a chicken through the top of that cage I've even got bald eagles here I never thought that they could get up and take off because the trees are so high around my property but they can I learned the hard way so I had to put ropes crisscrossing all across my backyard 8 feet high and even now got a smart one that comes down and lands on the roof of my 5th wheel and goes through that way but now I don't care if they take a few chickens 'cause I got a bunch that don't lay anymore and I don't like plucking so they're welcome to those ones the only problem is for some reason something keeps taking my bard rocks I've only got two left out of 6 and only one is still laying and I don't get the egg anyway because Rooster gets in there before me and eats the egg I wanted to get some of those to hatch out but that Dang Rooster keeps beating me to it And get this the Eagles run around under two feet chasing the chickens until they catch one luckily I got out there before it killed it but it definitely lost a lot of feathers And one day I went out there and a bald eagle had a chicken running around and it kept yelling at it and it wouldn't leave even I had to pick up a rock and throw a rock at it before it would let the chicken go and leave I don't want to kill no bald eagles I like bald eagles but my neighbor keeps shooting them and he shoots owls even send me a picture about two or three years ago he shot a spotted snow owl beautiful owl but if I raise any crap about it I lose all my birds because I live in the city limits now and you're only allowed six laying hands no roosters and I've got 15 chickens and one rooster so I'm kind of stuck in a hard spot I did warn him if he shoots at any more eagles across the highway and towards town with a 22 rifle that shell has to come down somewhere and let me landed some one's top of their head I told him he's not allowed to shoot him he said yes I am i'm allowed if they're coming after my animals and I said no you're not allowed because you live in the city limits it's illegal to fire a firearm off in the city limits so luckily his dad is my best friend well was my best friend I told him that if he didn't stop I was going to have a talk with his dad because his dad owns the trailer that he is living in beside me and his dad lives across the street and all the trees around my property are all park berg sanctuary he shot a ball eagle right across my property into the trees on the other side of my house nowhere near his birds
That is excellent wire you guys are putting on that cage that is the same wire I have all around my property and it has been up on my fence for 25 years now and looks the same and it's holding up the post because the posts I've brought it out now and the fence posts just hammered into the ground but now here that stuff is so expensive can't afford to buy anymore it's over $200 a roll for a 100 footer
Seems like when my husband built our little gate going into our fenced in garden, he put the hindges on the inside corner of the gate board and post instead of outside corner. I might be mistaken, but I think that was it. Those look like the same kind of hinges he used, but I'm not positive. Lol. Anyway good job guys! Coop looks great. 😊 They also sell that lightweight plastic type netting that you might use across the top if you worry about hawks at some point.
I was watching your video and in the process of dropping yall an email about my idea about the top of the coop, then you started talking running the hotwire around the top, which was my idea I had. So......looks like you won`t be getting that email. LOL🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Good grief sat down I do same thing we never stop 🛑 turkey day is gone I am resting resting that be nice but to raise them no eat them no I am very touchy about thjs I say let them enjoy life I never been around all this I faint I love animals I know farmers they do not kill nothing or have no meat in freezer or jars that us us we love you all where are the babies I love the Dog 🐕 he live a queen life be safe it be nice hope varmits stay put did I get your macaroni and cheese made sweet folks ❤️🙏🏻 1:28

I just put cheap chicken wire over the top not the good wire I would have backed it in there I think that would have been a lot easier to get it in and out by backing it in and out
Do y'all think there could be trouble with predators digging under the bottom boards to try and get at the chickens? Should y'all dig around the bottom of the coop in order to bury some kind of fencing to deter any animals? I love the way y'all joke with each other in a loving way.
I knew that was going to happen with those hinges I was laughing because I've done the same thing I hate those hinges they're only good for big barn doors that Have like 6 inches on the other side of the building unless you get smaller ones basically made for a flat wall hinge but I've had to use them the same thing as you have and done the same mistake as you did so I have done the same mistakes as you that's why I was laughing not at you laughing at both of us🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Myself I wouldn't even have trimmed the wire I would have just kicked it in with my foot at the bottom and let the overhang hang over top of the grass that way you would have still had a perfectly good 4 foot piece of wire always reusing stuff down the line never know what's going to happen🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
And years ago when I wasn't living here and had my house was just a tube shop I had it lectrified because I had a dog in here it was a Wolf Shepherd very aggressive dog to other people until I introduced her to other people best dog I ever owned went with me everywhere until I got another dog that I took in because other people didn't want it it was part lab and that dog kept digging out all the time it even blew the Multi Breaker in my shop got out because there was a cat that was hanging around here they chased the cat and the lab ended up ripping the cat apart underneath the tape neighbors trailer alls I did to lectify that fence was bared one wire and plugged it into the house best electric fence ever had and it didn't cost anything my dad did that years ago at his house he had dogs coming up and always peeing on our little shrub in front of our house so what he did was wrapped a bunch of wire around that tree and plugged it into the house well you should have heard that dog yipe when it lifted its leg up and took a pee on the tree it was the funniest thing I ever seen and that dog never came back to pee on the tree I bet you his wee wee hurt pretty good ended up having to put my dog down hardest thing I've ever had to do was put in the animal you love down by a gun because the neighbor came to my shop one day hammering on the side of the wall with a golf club and then after all that he came to my specialty coffee house and told me that I owe his wife an apology after I had to put my dog down because of their cat that was allowed to run around freely I should have never put that dog down but the SPCA wanted to see the dogs and I was not going to allow them to take my dogs away the lab was not even two years old and I didn't want to put that dog down so I ended up taking it out to an area where there was a bunch of farms in a lot in her go this is why I don't like neighbors😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
You mean to tell me that you can dig down two inches to make a crooked, Dr. Seuss, looking gate swing, but you couldn't dig down four inches to make a square gate swing? Come on, Andy, don't embarrass your chickens.
Well looks like the chickens gone like there new home it really turned out nice yall folks have a nice evening God bless yall I see you next time
Hello from Ohio. Really enjoy your channel. Andy there isn't a person watching that hasn't made a mistake 🤐🤫
When your chickens find those grubs they’re going to be so happy!! ❤️💚❤️
Hey, maybe you can burry a 2x4 under the door to work like a threshold, may help keep predators digging under , cheers. Oh, and maybe a harbor freight shade awning for roof.

Andy I can't wait to see the chickens go in their new home. You guys take such good care of your farm and the animals and knowing how to build things saves a lot of money. thank you

Can't wait to see those chickens grubbing. 🐓
Lord those hogs have grown. Can't wait until the harvest videos to come out.
If you don’t want to put a roof on that, just run a strand of electric around the top to keep things from climbing over put it down on the sides about 4 inches down from the top

Good job

Thank you ❣️
Have a blessed day y'all great video ❤
As always your animals lo9k very good. The cows are huge, wide whatever you want to say. Great work
thank you
Well I would put the wood chips on the pasture
I know the are Happy now.
You know Andy it wouldn't take but a minute on each hands to fix it I'm screwed do it right and put it back on
yea I would If It was going to be used a lot but surely itll hold to be opened a couple times a year
Good afternoon from Ohio
❤
Very nice. Also, paint that wire black, and it'll almost disappear.
What about owls and hawks flying in from the top.
they never bothered them in the netting so I don't think they'll bother them there either
Don't trim the wire. Bury it to keep the critters out.
well its too late now hahaha
..if I watch anything today..this is my choice.. 💜
thank you
I was watching your video and in the process of dropping yall an email about my idea about the top of the coop, then you started talking running the hotwire around the top, which was my idea I had. So......looks like you won`t be getting that email. LOL🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
haha thanks
Nice job you have done.. maybe for safety put wire on the top. Small price to pay for safety
Well I would put the wood chips on the pasture what going to keep them from getting on top of the house and going over the top
they might do that we'll just have to see
Good grief sat down I do same thing we never stop 🛑 turkey day is gone I am resting resting that be nice but to raise them no eat them no I am very touchy about thjs I say let them enjoy life I never been around all this I faint I love animals I know farmers they do not kill nothing or have no meat in freezer or jars that us us we love you all where are the babies I love the Dog 🐕 he live a queen life be safe it be nice hope varmits stay put did I get your macaroni and cheese made sweet folks ❤️🙏🏻 1:28

I would get some nylon plant trellis for the top might cost 10 $
Hello, I was wondering if you were putting some place for the chickens to roost?
Looks great! Will the chickens not get on top of the coop and fly out?
well they've done that twice so far lol
@ I don’t have any experience with chickens that is why I asked.😂
@ I love watching your videos and learning new things.
I just put cheap chicken wire over the top not the good wire I would have backed it in there I think that would have been a lot easier to get it in and out by backing it in and out

It might but I really don't expect it to be a problem
Put the hinges on the inside.

What about protection from the rain or snow for the chicken. Are you going to put some cover on the top. Just asking.. City folks, what do I know. 😂😂
They can go inside their coop for that
You guys don’t have hawks that would eat your chickens?
they never bothered them in the netting
Don't you need a roof on part of the new coop for protection from the rain?
they can go inside their house for that just like when they were in the netting
What about hawks or other flying predators, fly down into coop?!
No top to keep the rain out?
Not saying anything bad but we called those moments like you had wad a BRAIN FART😂
Hahaha I said that but I reckon it got edited out
And years ago when I wasn't living here and had my house was just a tube shop I had it lectrified because I had a dog in here it was a Wolf Shepherd very aggressive dog to other people until I introduced her to other people best dog I ever owned went with me everywhere until I got another dog that I took in because other people didn't want it it was part lab and that dog kept digging out all the time it even blew the Multi Breaker in my shop got out because there was a cat that was hanging around here they chased the cat and the lab ended up ripping the cat apart underneath the tape neighbors trailer alls I did to lectify that fence was bared one wire and plugged it into the house best electric fence ever had and it didn't cost anything my dad did that years ago at his house he had dogs coming up and always peeing on our little shrub in front of our house so what he did was wrapped a bunch of wire around that tree and plugged it into the house well you should have heard that dog yipe when it lifted its leg up and took a pee on the tree it was the funniest thing I ever seen and that dog never came back to pee on the tree I bet you his wee wee hurt pretty good ended up having to put my dog down hardest thing I've ever had to do was put in the animal you love down by a gun because the neighbor came to my shop one day hammering on the side of the wall with a golf club and then after all that he came to my specialty coffee house and told me that I owe his wife an apology after I had to put my dog down because of their cat that was allowed to run around freely I should have never put that dog down but the SPCA wanted to see the dogs and I was not going to allow them to take my dogs away the lab was not even two years old and I didn't want to put that dog down so I ended up taking it out to an area where there was a bunch of farms in a lot in her go this is why I don't like neighbors😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
From top?!
Don’t trim and you can keep things from digging in. 👍
💃💃💃
I wonder how many people know what you mean by short row.
Haha probably not many
Well, all us guys have made foopaas or mistakes or whatever you want to call them. The only difference is you put it on the worldwide web. :)
Are farmers allowed to dispatch birds of prey if they are attacking your chickens?
I really don't know
Is your hinge on the big door right? Have you re-thought that since you did it?
Why didn't you do the bottom first and then the top and wrap the wire partly over the "roof?"
We are just watching and learning and thinking. 😊
Don't trim the wire, bury it to help keep critters from digging under
You mean to tell me that you can dig down two inches to make a crooked, Dr. Seuss, looking gate swing, but you couldn't dig down four inches to make a square gate swing? Come on, Andy, don't embarrass your chickens.
All in good fun.
haha I like my crooked gate
