  • This video reviews 3 flux welders, Titanium Flux 125, Yeswelder 135, Hynade MIG 140D. Each welder is a good option for a beginner DIY welding machine. Flux welding goes by many different names, FCAW, gasless flux core wire, self shielding wire, MIG flux welding wire and smoker wire.
The Titanium 125 offers two simple knobs for adjustments, and has been tested the longest to be the most reliable without changes and updates.
The Yeswelder offers a range of processes, Mig flux, Stick and lift TIG. Each welder offers an extremely good value when starting to learn how to weld.
the Hynade 140D offers dual voltage and the highest amps out of all 3.
If you are looking into how to weld or just want a compact portable welder. All 3 welders offer good value and options.

After watching this video, I bought the Hynade MIG 140 welder. Put it together today and played around with it on some mid steel. What a fun little welder! Welds nice, quiet, and pretty decent quality for the cost. Thank you for making this video and bringing this brand to my attention.

Thank you for an excellent video. When you tripped a breaker on two different occasions that sold me on having a dual voltage machine. Every time you handled that roll of Forney wire it made memories surface of my first welder. A Fourney that weighed some ridiculous amount. There were numerous plug in places on the front to select the amperage and low or high voltage. It was given to me after being scorched in a fire, but still worked like a charm. That was 50 years ago.

I bought the Flameweld Mig145FX based on your video featuring the Hynade that looks exactly the same. I work mostly with 22 guage automotive sheet metal, so the setup was a little tricky because of the single knob. I landed at 70 amps, with the bottom button setting at minus 20. It had me worried at first because the lowest Amp setting of 50 was instantly blowing holes in the 22 guage. The instructions are useless, so I'm glad tinkering with the settings found the zone

Thinks for the video, Mike! I’ve only owned a stick welder (yes, classic Lincoln tombstone) but I’ve used a MiG with good results. Always was concerned about spatter from the flux core wire welders. I know the first ones I saw really seemed to make rough looking welds. I think you videos have changed my mind on that. I’m setting up a new shop and will probably add a flux core welder there to fill the gap between the old Lincoln stick and the Tig.

    • @Mikefestiva
      @Mikefestiva  Год назад +1

Hey Ralph those old Lincoln tombstone welders last forever! That’s the first welder I learned on when I was 15 years old 👍 my problem was back then all my projects were on thin metal and I had a hard time welding stuff like bicycle frames and sheet metals. Once I bought my first Harbor Freight ( AC transformer) flux welder I was able to weld those projects with ease, but yes the spatter was awful on that old welder, it was one of there really old Chicago electric ones. It was really low quality but surprisingly it’s still working to this day( I gave it to a friend years ago)
I think you would find a small DC inverter flux welder will really round out your welding needs 👍🙂

I had the titanium and she puts in some work love keeping it in my Jeep as a back up welder, but I now have the titanium unlimited running on 240 V and she kicks too, runs mig well with pre and post flow burns stick true to the amp readings on screen only complaint is the leads are 10Ft if you go to a bigger titanium I would recommend 15ft leads or extension cords for 240v but overall I’m happy with my harbor freight welder

Great video!!! I have the titanium 125 for a few years and have found in some applications you can weld 3/8 inch effectively with good penatration, not saying I would recommend it on a daily basis but for a little welder it does a fair burn on heavier metal. But did find valcun wire and Lincoln wire works best. Harbor freight Flux does work as planned.

This video made me decide to buy the Hynade MIG140D. I did some test welding, on some 1/8" flat steel with it today, and I am happy as can be with the results. I've never electric welded before, and with the exception of letting the flux core wire spool unravel a bunch (learned NOT to clip the end until I'm ready to feed the wire into the machine), everything went smoothly, and easily. I was able to get some really decent welds, considering my zero experience. I think I will become quite good at it with practice.
    Thanks for this comparison vid.
    Cheers!

Hey Mike I hope you and your family had an enjoyable Thanksgiving.
I have a ThermalArc 130 GTS stick-tig for welding aircraft tubing and light stick work and a Miller 210 mig as my personal equipment. I've been looking at picking up a small fluxcore unit as a quick and easy portable wirefeed for spot repairs so your video is timely. Over my professional welding career I've used some of the best welding equipment on the market as well as some of the shadiest... they all got the job done most of the time.

I have a YesWelder Flux 135. Though mine is I guess older now, naturally they updated it to have all those features after I bought it (adding the stick and TIG). I'd say its setup more like the Titanium, two knobs, a button to flip between .030, and .035, and flux core only. Ground clamp is exactly the same as that YesWelder though.
I have noticed with mine though seems like it runs hot, I've tried to weld thinner metals and just about blown through it even on the lowest settings.

Hello Mike, thank you for the Thanksgiving wishes. So I see you didn't have the Chicago electric Harbor Freight low-end model. That's the one that I bought when I started out that's the one I still have and it works pretty well I have to say. I mean what do you want for $99. The only thing I wished about the flux core welders is they made a thinner wire but I guess that'd be asking too much?? I have learned to do body panels with the 30 wire but I can tell you it is extremely hard to weld body replacement panels with flux core. I am not a welder although I did a lot of gas welding and brazing back in the day. The main thing with all those flux core is the Heat you have to keep the heat out of those panels or you're going to get warpage as you realize. You probably will never see if what score welder in a high-end body shop that's for sure but then again you can't weld outside with shielding gas and wind and you can use flux core for that. Mike I appreciate the ins and outs of these welders I know that you have tried a lot of different ones and gave your opinions on those. Anyway my friend keep on doing what you do and I'll keep on watching.

Mike , I currently run the old Harbor Freight flux core welders on 20 amp breaker with 10 gauge wire to welder. I have no problems tripping the breaker. If run on a 15 amp breaker off a drop cord the breaker trips easily and lower amps come to the welder. Your wire from breaker to outlet could be too small. should be at no12. Preferably no10.

I am a weekend welder fixing small things around the house and helping family (mostly for practice!). I replaced my stock plug wire for 12 guage so I can use 220V outlets. Any recommendations for using 220? Settings? Max Metal thickness? I plan on building a 100 gallon propane tank BBQ pit this Fall / Winter.

Awesome vid mike! I have been following forever and i think im finally gonna make the jump and get one!! Im going between the titanium and the hynade. As a total complete newbie i was kind of leaning towards the titanium. My question is, do you think the current titanium is still good? I have been told in the past that harbor freight value engineer their products as time goes on and they get cheaper. I was told if you buy them early on you can get a great tool. That is the only thing im nervous about. The acid etching is pretty sweet but its nice to see how they actually work. Thanks for the help and im lookin forward to the next one 🍻

Thanks Joe for checking out my new video! I have always figured it was the other way around for HF, I commonly will buy there first round of products, welders and other tools when they first come out.
I’m pretty sure as some of those products get returned over time from defects they look into the problems and I have assumed if it’s a big enough problem they remedy the issue.
I have heard there’s a place in California where the defective and returned items go for this.
I still feel like the Titanium is probably a good little welder and is worth buying.
I will let you know first hand if your thoughts on that are true? I just decided to buy the Omnipro 220 from HF on the recent sale, I owned this welder about 4 plus years ago, I had always liked the quality of it.
I do know over time HF will cut out extras they had come in the box in earlier models like welding wire or extra consumables like welding tips.
      Take care Joe 🙂👍
