  • This week on New Mexico in Focus, we feature an interview with undefeated bantamweight fighter Holly Holm, taped not long after a bout last April in which she both won by a technical knockout and broke her arm. Referred to by many sportswriters as “one of the best female boxers of all time,” the Albuquerque native now competes in mixed martial arts and was supposed to make her Ultimate Fighting Championship debut on December 6 before being sidelined by a neck injury. NMiF Producer Megan Kamerick interviews “The Preacher’s Daughter” about why she chose a fighting career.

    OMG... some people are already saying she's boring, not star material etc... but JEEZ... when you actually pay attention and listen to what this woman has to say WOW... intelligent, erudite and without ego. Forget the fact that she's a physical specimen, just about as tuned up and fit as it's possible to be, in terms of her personality and mindset, THIS is what you want to be as a human being: calm, collected, ego-less, kind and sincere.

    So well spoken and intelligent. A great ambassador for women's boxing.

      +Sabine Harrington I like Holly so my opposing view to your statement that Holly is or was a good ambassador for women's boxing differs from your's. Holly was a terrible advocate for women's boxing because she never wanted to travel and expose her wonderful talents to a bigger audience because she always fought at home. Holly choose the selfish route to her career and wanted everyone to come to her home and fight in mile high Albuquerque and suffer from altitude sickness thus creating a home advantage over all of her opponents. Just compare her to Ronda Rousey who has competed in over 30 countries while she competed in Judo, and in MMA she has fought in USA, Canada, Brazil, and now Australia promoting MMA. So please understand that I respect Holly as a women and a fighter but most people outside of New Mexico thinks that Holly was selfish and could have done a lot more to promote her sport.

      What? lol fuck traveling.
      Hollys intelligent, shes has humility and shes strong. She doesnt need to travel anywhere to flaunt any of this unlike Ronda. Shes a complete opposite of Ronda which is exactly what makes her better.
      Cant believe you have the audacity to bad mouth Holly but yet compare her to Ronda who is one of the worst and most disrespectful cocky female fighter.

    • @raquelborn
      @raquelborn 8 лет назад

      +Autumn Rose Apparently she fought mostly at home because there was no money in w' boxing for travelling around during her career? Conversely Ronda would have been supported by the US Olympic Committee/TeamUSA. I have no idea how true the bit about funding for women's boxing is though... I have no idea about boxing!
      I wonder why HH never went for the Olympics actually, if she is so good and all.

      +Autumn Rose Do you still remember what you just said here? where's the venue of UFC 193? and how can Holly Holms be so selfish?

    This is probably the best interview of HH I've seen. Great questions being asked, drawing out interesting answers. The other intereviews I've seen have been mostly boring and generic. I love her mentality. Great to learn more about her!

    What a class act. You just cant say bad things about Holly. So humble yet so focused. I truly wish Holly gets past the first round with Ronda. If it goes past the second round then the focus will shift. This is should be Holly's focus figure out a way to make Ronda go the distance.
