  • Super excited about the new Archicad 27 and Enscape for Mac. Yes, it's finally here. I take a test drive of the new software and also discuss a few other items.

Glad you are back. Keep the videos coming. I’ve loved Enscape ever since I ran across it 5 or 6 years ago. And glad to see it finally making it to MacOS and Archicad.

Thanks for the video. It's odd that Enscape plugin renders in a seperate windows rather than the backdrop of the main viewport. Apart from being a cleaner integration, the interconnection between the plugin and AC seems to be a bit laggy. Enscape is Apple Silicon native but Chaos has been slow to adopt ARM & Metal & something seems suboptimal. It would be interesting to see some performance measurements between your Mac & PC.
Sadly, unless companies like Chaos adopt the technologies Apple is using/providing ARM ISA & Metal/ MetalRT graphics API, the M3 processors' hardware ray tracing will be of little value.
So, can we expect an M3 video? Even if it's unflattering.

Great suggestion to do a comparison. Any specific metrics you'd like to to test?

@@ColorBlindArchitect frame-rates in general operation would be great (check out Apple's Metal HUD, unsure of Windows equivalent) and maybe selecting half-a-dozen standardised scenes for Enscape to render (different types of scene would be good to reflect different workloads). My suspicion is that Enscape doesn't use MetalRT yet so won't use the new M3 hardware ray tracing, but I could be wrong.

Is it a beta version? I don't see that escape is still available to download officially on its website, at the moment it is only available on Mac for use with SketchUp

It doesn't say beta. I had to log into my Enscape account on their website and the download option was within that.

Hi Im planning to transition from a razerblade 15 RTX 2060 to the Macbook Pro M3 Pro. Im wondering if i can still use Rhino - Enscape and still perform as good as the window version.

Enscape is running well on my M1Max. Just make sure your Rhino license is dual platform. I made that mistake and still have to use my PC anytime I need Rhino.

@@ColorBlindArchitect Hey there, im about to actually go into my archi major this fall freshman year, and i was wondering something: Are the file types from mac and windows the same? What i mean is like, can I work on a sketchup / archicad / enscape file on mac and seamlessly transfer it to a windows pc? I was hoping to do that this coming year, so that I can use a power efficient (yet powerful) system when around campus and crank out the fancy stuff on a tower pc in the dorm. Thanks for your input if you get to this!

@@crypticstrix3083 , thanks for the question. File types are generally interchangeable between Mac and Windows. The only issue going back and forth is make sure to format any thumb drives or detachable USB drives with Windows because Mac can read Windows formatted drives by Windows cannot reat Mac formatted drives. Other than that, you should do great. Congratulations on going into architecture school!
