Stewart caught Carmichael and passed him in the WHOOPS. After that Carmichael had no answer and that was it.

As a rider and fan. I started out watching Hanna and O’Mara. I am a massive McGrath fan. I’ve watched every MX and SX race from then to the rise of the Lawrence brothers. Thank you for the best video summary of one of the most amazing eras in motocross history. And I must say, as amazing as it is to watch it all on TV. Watching any of these live is mind blowing!! These riders definitely defy the laws of physics. Especially James Stewart. Blessed to have been present for all the Toronto SX races. Thank you.
What an absolutely incredible video, probably my favorite racing documentary ever. Man you really do have a way with words. Ricky was sensational, I wish I was old enough to have watched more of him. I teared up a few times during this video….bravo.
Awesome video and tribute. Ricky is an absolute legend and incredibly lucky to have parents that loved and sacrificed for him like they did. It's hard to think about how many kids out there have hidden talents and gifts that will never be recognized because they don't have parents that would do even half of what the Carmichael's did for theirs. They deserve legend status themselves.
That was so good. Thanks for making this video . The trip down memory lane was so heartfelt for me. I grew up watching this era of motocross and supercross. And was honestly the best in my opinion. I would love to see one on James Stewart and Chad Reed as well

I greatly appreciate this video, and enjoyed every second of it. What an incredible, and inspiring story. I also have great respect for Ricky Carmichael as a person, even beyond his amazing motocross, and supercross success.
I remember watching Ricky ride ALL day on a KX60 in Croom, and when I say ALL day, I mean ALL day. His parents and he sacrificed so much to get where they are today. @@BornAGoon No it didn't. It was lowered. Lower bikes corner better too. It was a huge advantage that we don't think of today, as I watch amateur track racers go so slow around corners on some of these very tall bikes today. Amazing Job, This video brilliantly captures the essence of his unparalleled career. From his fearless riding style to his numerous achievements, Ricky's legacy in the motocross world is nothing short of legendary. The way he dominated the tracks, his unmatched work ethic, and his relentless determination make him a true icon in the sport. Thanks for celebrating the greatness of Ricky Carmichael - a true inspiration for every motocross enthusiast out there!
I have been a supercross and Motocross fan since the beginning of the McGrath era. I got so bored of watching Jeremy wax everyone with ease. Then when RC came along and became the goat he was a true beast. There was not a bigger fan of RC then me ! He pushed the sport to the highest levels ever seen ! When RC retired I quit watching supercross and Motocross for five years ! Because RC was the face of the sport to me without him I thought it was nothing anymore. Man did I enjoy RC just absolutely giving it his all Just an absolute tough SOB who could clean anyone's clock those were the greatest years of my life watching RC turn into the Goat ! Thanks RC for elevating the sport to the highest levels ever an entertaining the fans for all those years !
What a great video, brings out all the greatness of whom Ricky and his family really are. Well elaborated, good narrative and a lot of details that change a lot of the perspective for the well known Ricky’s championship/victories numbers.
As always Great storytelling and narration Goon. In the age of AI you should think about copyrighting your voice. :) Been raining here for 2.5 months and now the freeze has set in. Some of us still ride and watch videos.
It’s crazy how fast the best of the best are, I remember in 2004 (I think) when Clark Styles came to one of our local motocross races, his semi rolled in about 10min before the A main start, he rolled out on the only 4 stroke race bike any of us had ever laid eyes on in person lol the track went across the property, 180 turn back through whoops, across the start gate, and 180 again across the start gate before going around the perimeter to reconnect to the whoops and he didn’t leave the gate until everyone had passed in front of the gate. Basically giving everyone a half lap head start, in a 5 lap race on a track were he was turning a sub 45sec lap time. He passed the entire field and lapped his way up to 3rd in a field of around 8-9 riders. There was a double-triple-single rhythm that he was doing double-quad from lap 1, he had never seen the track before as it was a temp track in the local park that was a once a year event at that location and had definitely never ridden it before. And to think, he couldn’t compare to Ricky, or Reed in this era. Blows my mind to this day when I think about it.
Damn, it’s hard to believe somebody had a perfect season twice in their career. I remember it in 2004 but I did not remember the earlier one in 2002. This guy did it twice!!!
You really oughta to look into the life story of Hunter and Jettson Lawrence and their family. A pair of brothers from the Sunshine Coast of Australia that not only beat the odds while the family lived in a camper van traveling across Europe, but have shattered expectations of those in the motocross business. What those two have accomplished in their careers already have been mind boggling. Hunter and Jett, in 2023 alone, claimed 5 of the 7 AMA pro dirtbike titles, with Jett winning the 250 West title and the 450 MX (UNDEFEATED!) and SMX World titles, and Hunter winning both the 250 East and 250 MX titles. Not only that, but the brothers have both been great ambassadors to the sport outside of it.
Being the same size as him i can see how he struggled with the 250 2 strokes. I got a 23 yz250 for my first dirt bike and to ride it like youre supposed to is hard for someone my size. Im sure theres people who could do it but i struggle holding onto the bike with how hard the power pulls, Its lighter than my 07 kx250f surprisingly and you can tell right away.
Pound for pound. If Ricky brings a knife you better bring a tank. If he brings a gun you better bring the USMC 3rd Battalion. 50% bad + 50% ass = 100% BADASS!
Lol, it's not even debatable. 15 Championships, 2 perfect seasons and a 3rd nearly perfect, no one is close. If he felt like racing the full schedule in '07 it would have been 17 titles.
That was brilliant. Very well done. You covered everything. I've often tried to explain to my non mx friends his achievements but they can't comprehend. Now I can show them.this . He really is a bad ass. The best to ever be.
Great video. I was at a bunch of SX races in the mid ‘90’s early 2000’s and it was the best from 93-03. So many great memories. It’ll never be better than then. IMO
Watched it from start to finish. Great video!!! I come from the David Bailey, Ricky Johnson, Larry Ward, & Johnny O'mara era, but there is no competing with RC.
Absolutely amazing video. My formative years were watching the transition from Jeremy to Ricky, and then watching Ricky take on the most talented field to ever exist, and each time he came out on top. This current crop of riders is great, but man... the GOAT was something special. Thank you so much for this video, it was an absolute pleasure to watch.
I've been lucky enough to have been alive since all the greats have been around. I started watching MX in 72 and SX in 78. I've still watched MX and SX today, 2024. And now we have Deegs and Jett and others but those 2 are todays great riders. The next 10 years are going to rock.
This was so helpful to me. You all have gaps in your lives? I was just entering the Air Force right as RC was coming on the scene, so I kind of missed his rise. I wanna say RC didn't really come onto my radar until freestyle motocross became a thing.

Every time I met this man in person it's been a dream. I keep signed posters up in honor, he's an inspiration.
Fantastic video. Spot on. Thank you for making it. I feel for K-Dub. One of the best ever, and spends his career at the same time against the buzzsaw, RC.
How true Lots of great riders back then that RC made average
Amazing Job, This video brilliantly captures the essence of his unparalleled career. From his fearless riding style to his numerous achievements, Ricky's legacy in the motocross world is nothing short of legendary. The way he dominated the tracks, his unmatched work ethic, and his relentless determination make him a true icon in the sport. Thanks for celebrating the greatness of Ricky Carmichael - a true inspiration for every motocross enthusiast out there!
He is the goat. My uncle bought one of his bikes that he raced with. Yeah that thing was insane to ride and a little scary. Straight up legend
This was a fantastic video. Thank you!
Yep and the main thing is there’s no excuses!!! Old school rode with heart ❤️ and respect ✊
Old school is right
Fantastic tribute to this man who is well deserved if it. Thanks for making this.
Best ever
You and him should get a room I’m sure u could do some damage 😂 your probably a Webb fan to seeing how Ricky gobbles him up to 😂
What a great video, brings out all the greatness of whom Ricky and his family really are.
Well elaborated, good narrative and a lot of details that change a lot of the perspective for the well known Ricky’s championship/victories numbers.
As always Great storytelling and narration Goon.
In the age of AI you should think about copyrighting your voice. :)
Been raining here for 2.5 months and now the freeze has set in.
Some of us still ride and watch videos.
That's a good idea!Thanks for watching
SENSATIONAL!!! Thank you
You're very welcome!
With all the talk about Jett right now this is a nice reminder of who the GOAT really is
yep Jett just needs about 120 more wins
Media needs to create hype for the sake of hype. Name one year where they're not hyping something
@@Revy8 You aren't wrong but Jett definitely has earned his hype even if it does get a bit annoying
Well Jett already has a better career trajectory than Carmichael
@@theread3480 All it takes is one injury. Jett could become the next goat, but there's a long way to go.
Utterly brilliant as always, Mr. Goon
Speed isn't everything.
You have to be in top shape.
Awesome! 👍✊ I hope He sees this Epic Tribute!✌️🙏🏻
We def need one of these videos on both Stewart brothers!!!
yes we do
I'm a Stewart fan boy so I definitely say yes we do
@@SpaceRanger187 I really hope you makes a video about him. It would be great! That dude has some AMAZING races and is an incredible rider
This sport needs channels like born a goon. So many new fans looking for awesome history like this. Great work sir.
I was a Huge Jeremy McGrath fan. Ricky never had it easy
Great video. Kept me focused on it throughout the full 40 minutes.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Damn, it’s hard to believe somebody had a perfect season twice in their career. I remember it in 2004 but I did not remember the earlier one in 2002. This guy did it twice!!!
yea and almost a third time
Jetts gonna do it twice or more
This was so good!! Thanks for making this
You really oughta to look into the life story of Hunter and Jettson Lawrence and their family.
We all know them let jett finish winning and hunter make a comeback before we get excited
@@immachine1565 nope, need to strike while the iron is hot
@@Nobody-xe9fc iron hasn't even begun to get warm they are just getting started
Amazing video!
Being the same size as him i can see how he struggled with the 250 2 strokes. I got a 23 yz250 for my first dirt bike and to ride it like youre supposed to is hard for someone my size. Im sure theres people who could do it but i struggle holding onto the bike with how hard the power pulls, Its lighter than my 07 kx250f surprisingly and you can tell right away.
thanks for watching and commenting
Pound for pound. If Ricky brings a knife you better bring a tank. If he brings a gun you better bring the USMC 3rd Battalion.
50% bad + 50% ass = 100% BADASS!
all badass
Wow, that was fantastic. Thank you.
nope
36:50 Numbers > Opinions.
Lol, it's not even debatable. 15 Championships, 2 perfect seasons and a 3rd nearly perfect, no one is close. If he felt like racing the full schedule in '07 it would have been 17 titles.
This was so good !
Thank you
Glad you liked it!
This video is a great reason why they should show the "thumbs down" count....because this video wouldn't have any. Excellent video!
You brought back many good memories, thanks for that, great documentary!
When you put it all together like that it's amazing how special of a time it was. ❤
IMO
incredible job!! I grew up racing in Florida against him as a kid. Awesome story telling.
Fantastic video. I grew up watching RC in his prime. I miss those days!
Watched it from start to finish. Great video!!! I come from the David Bailey, Ricky Johnson, Larry Ward, & Johnny O'mara era, but there is no competing with RC.
What a fantastic video about a truly fantastic rider 🐐🐐🐐🐐🐐
Great video! Thank you!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Thanks for refreshing my memory 🏆
I've been lucky enough to have been alive since all the greats have been around. I started watching MX in 72 and SX in 78. I've still watched MX and SX today, 2024. And now we have Deegs and Jett and others but those 2 are todays great riders. The next 10 years are going to rock.
This was so helpful to me. You all have gaps in your lives? I was just entering the Air Force right as RC was coming on the scene, so I kind of missed his rise. I wanna say RC didn't really come onto my radar until freestyle motocross became a thing.
I hung on every word like it was new to me and I was there. This was amazing, one of your best.
Wow, thank you!
Amazing video dude, about to binge your whole channel
What a great look back at the most dominant motocross racer there will ever be. Expertly crafted video. Thank you!
