Watched all the episodes straight and I did not understand Mandarin 😅 - Very sad series reflecting certain mind-sets in China in the last century. Beautifully scripted and played by the protagonists! I came straight from watching Ruyi's Royal Love following Zhou Xun's films. The ending was devastating. She is a superb actress and she has aged little from 20 years ago - still looking so cute and sweet (Zhou Xun reminded me of Olivia Hussey from "Romeo & Juliet") .... Великолепная актриса! Why do they make such sad films in China???
glad you watched all the series, without understanding what they say. But do you still know what the story is? It's a complicated struggle in the last century when people have the responsibility for family, morality and righteousness. they can't just search for their happiness as they want.
@@user-bo1um8bl4bThanks. I understood the story because I can read traditional Chinese even though I haven’t written a single word for decades. That era must have been very depressing for women. I think modern China is more liberal now??? Never been to China but am learning Mandarin so I will go one day. We are not much better in Europe …,
@@eika7849 Thank you. China is SO big and I would not know where to start. My paternal ancestors moved down South with the last emperor of the Sung dynasty the only place I ever knew is HK!
the tragedy repeated in 2 generations. On the boat, the younger brother of the husband said he never knew his mother because she died when he was born and then this baby of theirs became motherless because she died after giving birth to their son. The acting was great but I just cannot bear to watch the series again! The song sung while they were in the boat was lovely, I like that kind of Chinese folksongs.

雖是好劇，但結局不合情理！話說容家 家大業大，也在城裏見過大世面的，但卻在鄕下生了三天還不拿主意，還在產婆土法煉鋼？然後ㄧ命扺ㄧ命似的去葬送ㄧ個青春的生命？！不合理，全劇就敗在最後的結局！😮
而周迅是偉大的演員❤

为什么上次送嫣红去医院那么果断迅速， 这次同样也可以把秀禾送去呀。 编剧就是要秀禾死😮
每次看都很遗憾 为什么生了三天还不去市里面生呢 如果在市里生孩子 秀禾肯定不会死的 他们是容家 有钱 为啥不去市里生 看一次遗憾一次
就算花多一點錢把市裡的醫生還有所有生產手術用具直接用卡車載來家裡都划算= =
