I loved the original because Suran's voice added mellowness to it. But Jin and JK's added so much emotion to an already emotional song. Tho I love both version, I prefer this one a little more esp when I'm in the downward spiral moment lol because of the feels.
SUGA is an emotional writer, and it flows through through every word. S.J.J'S voices convey exactly how they have felt. From time to time. This song gives hope to those going through dark times. To know it's okay to feel lost, and you're not a lone even if it feels like it. Keep walking and someone will grab your hand and hold on tight. Suga is my most favorite song writer.
This version with Jimin/V nearly tops the version with Jin/JK. V's voice adds another dimension and soul to it.
I like the original one and listen to it so many times, I love the music arrangement of the original version but yes, Jin and JK's version is full of emotion.
I love the vocal line version more because I love jimin's version so much but suga dont want to release them guide audio of Jimin singing this song smh

Suga is a master poet. Listening to Jin and JK with those high notes beautifully made me feel the songs message more
I dont know why i always love the harmonizing between Jin and Jungkook…it hits me different..and the power of Suga voice and the melody makes this perfect
The "dream" lines in the chorus are so powerful. It's basically a prayer to his dream of making it when he was starting out as an underground rapper/trainee. That's why "first love" kept getting repeated too. It's to remind himself to keep going and to honor his first love, which will forever be music.
Everytime I hear it I swear I get goosebumps and just want to yell and scream.
So Far Away was originally Agust D featuring Suran. She is a singer, she has worked with Yoongi so many times. Jungkook and Jin joined Yoongi for their performance at the Muster 💜
But I really like this Jk and Jin version because of the adlibs. Since Suran didn't do, I really don't listen to Suran version

Here suga sample the 3 solos songs of them ( first love , awake and begin ) that's why you heard the instrumental of those songs , and so far away is like a second part of first love cuz at the end of his performance on wings tour the band stars to play "so far away ".

This song is an absolute treasure, both versions are amazing and give a different vibe. I do like this version a bit more tho because it's a bit more softer and JK and Jin really compliment it.
Also yes, you're right Nico. When Jungkook sings "First Love" it's in reference to Suga's song and the beginning of it uses some of the instrumental from First Love.
At the end there's also the same metronome sound (like the marking of time passing) & cello added in from First Love too :)
The original version is great but I love this version so much. There’s something special about having Jin & Jungkook voices included and I always get chills when JK adlibs “First Love” at the end, a callback to Suga’s other solo track. It’s a seamless blend and so beautiful. 💜🎹
9:25 the line "though your beginnings were modest, your latter days will flourish" was actually quoted from Job 8:7 in the Bible.
Yoongi also mentioned it again on his Agust D mixtape note (posted on BTS' fancafe in 2016).
Though since bts themselves say that none of the members is a follower of any religion, it's not our place to come up with any other assumption.
Five years ago I stumbled upon this song and it got me into BTS. I had such a hard time facing my depression and anxiety along with school life and the high expectations set upon by my parents but really BTS gave me the safe place and comfort I needed. And the rest is history cos these 7 men are literal Angels who saved many lives be it ARMY or non-ARMY, thank you Nico and Blake for reacting to this masterpiece and Happy Yoongi Day everyone💜
when i first heard this song it was 2am and i just laid in bed sobbing until like 5am from how emotional it made me as well as realizing the brilliance of yoongi's artistry definitely a very life altering song to listen to

Ive never heard this version. It sure hits different with JK and Jin's gorgeous vocals.
i remember before this version was released during festa 2017, i was so emotionally attached to the one with Suran. Knowing jinkook are also gonna add their own flare to this already hauntingly beautiful song is almost overwhelming. Their artistry is so incredible.
Also, i remember how special this song was to both yoongi & suran, as she revealed that she too was in a dark place mentally before this song.

this is the song that made me an ARMY, every time I hear this song, it makes me cry. It just means so much, it's true what they say" you find BTS when you need them". This song touch my heart and hit everything I wanted to say and felt at that time. "May your trials end in full bloom" felt so reassuring and hopeful to me.
I really love this song, I asked my sister to listen to it and she was so happy to hear it. It was something she needed and pushed her to keep going. I really love this version with Jin and JK voices. It is a very hopefully songs. 💜

To me this song shows a deeper side of Suga. Yes he has these dark thoughts but he tries to stay hopeful. It’s one of those songs that hits home and comforts me. It’s beautiful.

This is what I've been feeling now. With my life and everything. I stopped going to school to help our family with our finances, work 9-12 hours a day. Though I am happy to help my fam, it really saddens me sometimes to see my friends and batchmate still pursuing their studies. Always make me thinking like "I should be in my 3rd year in college now." I feel so unsteady. Is this how im going to live my life from now on? Working my ass with no rest?

How deep. Is so sad that this was what he experienced when he wanted to pursue music. Im so glad he never gave up. He deserves to be happy. At one point he was suicidal. Im glad he pulled himself out of it :)
He had help with that, 6 brothers that opened up his shell and oozed a lot of love and trust into him. Someone that listened and not lectured him. I pray that someone will be there for all the people in the world that experience pain and loneliness.

This song is truly inspirational bc it gives people hope that in order to grow, we have to go through struggles. Nothing comes easy to you, but if you don't quit and keep going, there is a light at the end of a tunnel.
This song always make me cry, Suga literally wrote my life in this song, every words hit like a brick! 6 years ago, I've experience "my first death" (like in Black Swan) where I totally lost all passions for life, lost my dreams, lost my directions and meaning in life. I was suicidal and questioning my existence everyday. Luckily I found BTS and they have been my salvation til this day.
I love all the boys for various reasons, but I am a Yoongi stan through and through. When I first started listening to their music, I had no intention of developing a bias; they all bring something unique to the table and they’re all incredibly talented. However, I kept finding myself being drawn to him, even before I confidently knew who was who. Initially it was his personality; I’m a sucker for sarcasm and deadpan deliveries. He has never failed to bring a smile to my face. But then…then I started listening to his solo works and I was smitten. For one, as a long-time sufferer of bipolar disorder, chronic pain (weirdly enough, due to a labral tear in my shoulder that ultimately required surgery to repair), and addiction (March 7th I actually celebrated 2 years clean!), his lyrics have always felt so personal to me. It often felt like maybe he had read my journal and was putting all of my fears and insecurities on display. Secondly, it was comforting to know that someone else out there felt the way I felt; his ability to articulate some of those things that I couldn’t ever find words for was just astounding. And so he quickly became my bias because I felt like I had found a kindred spirit.
If you could fall in love with a song, this is the song I fell in love with. I couldn't stop my tears when I heard it. This was the perfect song to react to on Yoongi's birthday.
I don't know if anyone one has said it here or not yet, but I love how Suga always feeds us hope. He's been where some of us have been or are at (in contemplating taking our lives and disappearing from this plane - he actually did so and survived - hence the phrase "...because I can't die...") This is like an anthem to not give and keep going and not fall away.
I canʻt even express how much this specific song resonates with me because Iʻve felt those things at many different points in my life and it really was because of me finding BTS during those darkest parts of my life that saved me. I have nothing but love and appreciation for our 7 Kings. 💜💜💜💜💜💜💜

This is the song that would have made me fall in love with Suga if I hadn't already been head over heels after First Love, all the cyphers, and Tear. As it was, it helped me recover from The Last, which destroyed me a little the first time I heard it. Yoongi is amazing.
I cried the first time I heard this song, knowing it’s about Yoongi’s struggles with family and friends not supporting his first love (music) and his dream to be a musician. On top of his heavy drinking to numb the pain of his shoulder injury that he couldn’t afford treatment for… I love the original Suran version but this version hits so different, Jin and JK add a deeper more personal aspect to the song and it’s meaning.

In here (the original Suran version doesn't say "first love"), the guys make a call out to Suga's solo song "First Love", maybe stating that that dream, for him, is music/the piano/the one thing that keeps and kept him going. ^^

I really like the original version too but in my opinion I think Jungkook’s and Jin’s voices fit this song a lot more, and the changes in the instrumental are great too! if I remember right I think Yoongi himself even said that this version is more like what he had originally planned for the song to be like. But both versions are still great!
This is my favorite song from Yoongi and I think it always will be, because he describes a situation that's so relatable. Not having a dream, not knowing what you want to do, it's super discouraging. But Yoongi never writes a sad song without an uplifting message, so there's also that hopefulness in the lyrics of the chorus.

What gets me most, is how during the verses, he talks directly about his brokenness, disconnection and internal conflict yet the chorus comes in and it sounds like he’s giving all his hope and trust to the audience/listener. Telling them to hold on and dream with their entire capacity because a better time is coming for them

I still remember that day I happened to press play on my Spotify and heard it for the very first time. I was coming back home from shopping, it was a mild spring weather, I had bags full of groceries and I was waiting for my tram to arrive .. the moment I heard it I froze and couldn´t stop shivers down my spine ( it was Suran´s version btw which to this day I prefer :-) I frantically started to search lyrics and when I read them and listened once again sitting on my tram I started to cry and couldn´t stop. People around me must have thought I was crazy, lol. That song, that musical powerful composition, its impactful lyrics and voices of Suga full of emotions and Suran´s just impacted like no other piece of music has ever done before or after ever since. That was the day Yoongi has become my ultimately ultimate bias in BTS and that was also the day my journey of discovery to learn more about him started. I have never looked back ever since. My respect and love for him has grown exponentially ever since and So far away is a song I always listen to when I feel desperate, broken and destroyed by life. It gives me good cry, but also encouragement and hope that I will be ok. His "Dream.... " verses he is reciting in a language style that Korean Bible is written in or Buddhist monks are using in their prayers is beyond powerful and almost transformative for me. Just imagine his intent with the song and how he has written it - an affirmative prayer/mantra for all suffering souls of this world to give them comfort and encouragement. The GOAT.

when you are depressed and people tell you to 'sort it out' 'pull yourself together' 'stop moping' 'come to your senses' etc, it just annoy's me, as don't you think i want to be happy and not depressed! My brain just doesn't allow me to, i can only learn to cope, get therapy when i sense it taking me to a dark place and adjust thing's to help me get through it (like telling someone i trust to keep an eye on me) This has took me year's and i mean about 30 year's to find coping method's that help, music really help's me alot though as it's the thinkg that heal's me 💜

This song got me hooked in the feels! If i didn't already love BTS and heard this song; they got my heart. They got heart and soul! This song hit me hard real hard. I struggle daily with severe depression. It's true you have to try to find something, anything to hold on to just to get through a day; the struggle is so real. The sound of birds singing at 4:30 am, and music, I turn to music every day to hold on.
