#1 and #7 really speak to me, thanks for taking the time for listing prices and informing me of electric commuting options. i'll be looking those up! =)
I received the RCR and my only complaint is the anti-theft system is that it makes a loud and annoying chirp sound when locking/unlocking or turning on the bike so I just dont use it. I dont go more than 20 mph in the city I keep it in Eco Mode. I am afraid if I take any faster the cops will bust me here in Dallas Texas. I dont have a license/insurance but was thinking to get it legal so I can take it out on the road.
Да потрясающее техника. В том числе цени тоже. Еще важно все это техника не для Российских дороги. Наших дорогах мамонты ногу сломают. Может мои внуки до этого дня дождётся. Я то никак не надеюсь.
I have the Onyx RCR. It’s a great bike. Not quite a fully polished product yet but it works and with a few after market improvements it works well. The pedals aren’t really practical unless you install longer crank arms because you practically have no leverage. The power train is a beast though. Best specs for the price. The super soco looks amazing but the specs are lacking.
I really like these vehicles!... but why is the title of this video listing these as "MOPEDS"?! MOPEDS by definition must be both "MOTOR" and "PEDAL" capable...Hence "Mo-Peds"
Hello, thanks for bringing up this topic. The thing is that the lines in the EV industry are blurred, so we picked models that are marketed as models and have optional pedals (so we picked vehicles that are close to regular mopeds in terms of size and performance). Electric bicycles also have pedals and motors, so they could also qualify for the traditional definition of "a moped."
@@Datacube I can't agree with T Jam more. This is not a moped or even close. Electric bicycles are not mopeds because they are primarily bicycles and you can ride them as such. Mopeds can't be ridden with pedals alone, or certainly not very far. It is not that difficult to distinguish, but the fact remains that this is NOT a moped.
@@Datacube - No, they do not qualify with the traditional definition of moped. There is one definition of moped and it has nothing to do with size and performance. Your title is wrong. The fact that you keep calling them mopeds is wrong. If it doesn't have pedals that integrate with the motor it is not a moped.
@@Datacube You can buy the RE, S or C models restricted to 25km/h(when they are classified as bicycles) or 45km/h(classified as mopeds). The R and RB models are not street legal in most countries.
Ok super soco still a nice looking bike, price is creeping up though. But for a moped they are all over priced considering they are electric. Em I think these bikes could have potential but the price is way over the top for most of them. 28 mph, ok moped speed the price should reflect their purpose. Petrol moped £900 Honda maybe 1.5 grand, 28 mph around 150 miles to a gallon of fuel, electric moped 6 grand 31 miles to a charge. Come on get real. Electric moped should be no more than 2 grand or as close to it as possible, with a minimum range of 50 miles to a charge with a rapid charger thrown in for free. And you wonder why these things are not being bought, it don't take a genius to work it out. It's a moped, keep it simple, keep it cheap, keep it easy to store, keep it cheap did I say that one? ha.
Hello, thanks for your input. The prices are off-putting for some but still the fact that new models are being rolled out by the manufacturer shows that there is a demand for these products. Battery prices and need for marketing jacks up the prices for products like this but it seems that they are on a verge of going mainstream. Once there is a good network of chargers or stations, where you can swap your battery, this market segment will experience a breakthrough. We think that delivery services may help making this push because they are always on the lookout for affordable transport that will help them keep running costs low in the long run.
@@Datacube Don't get me wrong I understand that they run very cheaply but that is due to electricity being cheaper than gasoline. However that is not for the makers of this product to decide, they make the product and we buy it if we can afford it, we run it how we feel so they juts make the product and it is up to us to run it, so it is no benefit saying that they run cheaper unless you are comparing like for like and in this instance we are not. Let's face it a diesel moped would outstrip the running costs of any electric moped, so we can't compare based on running costs. What we can compare on is price as they both aim for the same market. As it stands if I wanted a moped I could buy one for less than 900 pounds and it would carry me around 150 miles to a charge of the fuel tank. What I see with electric mopeds is, looks and clean, you don't get dirty smoke or fumes or grease everywhere or oil so they are clean to ride. That's it nothing else, the sole reason to ride a moped has gone out the window. I would say the reason most people buy a moped is because they want cheap transport. Super soco just about falls within that scope of cheap transport, most of the others fall within the realms of over priced far better to buy something else category even if it stinks from burning fossil fuel. Super soco used to start at around 2.5 grand which meant they were promising, but used lead acid batteries, but you could upgrade at any time so still kept them worth considering. I don't know what is going on with this postings section as the words don't seem to wrap around properly and wraps part way through a word.
We've always felt that running costs mattered for consumers in the automotive world. We think that this is the reason that manufacturers introduced such metric as fuel efficiency and try to use better mpg rating as a competitive advantage, when marketing the product. We do understand that the running costs of scooters and mopeds are already low, still there are countries, where fuel efficiency is taken into consideration greatly. Don't get us wrong, we are all for affordable electric transport. The idea itself is brilliant. Electric vehicles don't produce fumes, don't need oil changes, etc. Battery tech is the only weak spot they have. Right now battery research can't keep up with the demand and expectations, so for now manufacturers are going with the rapid battery swap technology: rent a battery pack or have two battery packs on your hands. This approach makes electric vehicles even more expensive but consumers get a chance to travel without limitations. This niche is relatively new, we are lucky enough to watch it succeed or fail in real time. The time will show...
@@Datacube Yes I agree with battery swap considering how poor the batteries fitted tend to perform. However at the prices of some of these mopeds they could fit a really top spec battery and still keep the price as is. I could buy a gasoline moped as I said for £899 brand new and even with the high cost of gasoline would have to run that bike for £5101 before it even caught up with some of these mopeds, that's £5101 worth of fuel just to break even with some of these mopeds, think about that. And that's just the cost of fuel, think about how many times you would need to stop to charge when one gallon of fuel lasts more than 3 times as long as one charge. But it doesn't stop there, cos each cost of charging your bike will cost you something unless you happen to have a solar charging station in your garden if you have one of those. In the UK public charging is not cheap, in fact it's quite expensive, the only way they make it pay is by charging more for petrol and diesel, ie tax. Also you get a little bit of time while your vehicle is charging where as you don't with a fossil fuel vehicle. So all things taken into account and if you bought an electric moped it will take you probably around 12 years to break even on that bike or around six hundred thousand miles, who rides a moped that kind of mileage, and the batteries would have worn out way before that kind of mileage anyway several times over which all adds to the cost. Just breaking even with a £899 priced moped is beyond reality. That's the problem with those expensive mopeds and why a moped needs to be cheap. But all this taken into consideration, you could buy an extra fast electric bicycle, no registration no one would care about you and no special clothing or helmets or gloves and just ride that. Electric bikes come in at around a similar price to gasoline mopeds and they can be upgraded with ease, plus you often can get them to go 80 plus miles to a single charge.
We totally understand you. Pricing is not the main advantage and selling point for electric mopeds, scooters, etc. Still there are several competitive advantages that manufacturers are trying to capitalize on in order to make these scooters sound cool and beneficial to own. As consumers we should also understand that companies that make these things need to cover their research and development costs. The industry is only on its initial stages of developments. High-end computers, house appliances and cell phones weren't affordable from the very beginning. So we are planning to wait and see how this industry evolves.
I would really love to buy the Super Soco, but i feel that after a few years it might not even take me to work and back on one charge anymore. Also the rather low top speed in comparison to the price is kinda off putting for me :/ But maybe I´m just an odd ball that thinks around 3000€ should buy you a faster "clean" ride.
Nah you're right. Super Soco doesn't have a good price on it's head. I wouldn't get it despite how beautiful it looks. Unless a bike shop can change the controller to make it go faster but that would also means the battery would die faster. Might as well go with a BMW C evolution.
They should have programed modes of bike lane speeds top @28mph, city @45mph, and highway @85mph with a 4-5kw motor and easier the price to $5000. That would make that thing sell like hotcakes.
@@JessicaRodriguez-gi2cl It's ridiculously easy to unlock / derestrict the super soco.
