  • Backyard Discovery 8x8 Peak Shed → www.backyarddiscovery.com/col...
    Handy Home Products 8x8 Kingston → amzn.to/2rQbuso
    In this video, I build and review two kit sheds. The first is made by Backyard Discoveries and it's a fairly new product in the market. The second is made by Handy Home Products and has been around for a while. My goal is to help you know what to expect when you order and build a pre-cut shed. As you will see in this video, after building both, the differences are obvious.
    Some people wonder how long it takes to build. It's hard to say because everybody is at a different skill level but I would guess the average consumer could build the Backyard Discovery shed in a day. The Handy Home shed in a minimum of 2-1/2 to 4 days. Depending on experience.
    If you are wondering about the price you need to check your local Home Depot or Lowe's stores and also online at sites like Amazon (linked above) With the Backyard Discovery shed, the price you see it. Nothing extra to plan for. With the Handy Home sheds, you will have to calculate for the extra materials and possibly tools.
    The last major comparison is the skill level required and potential frustrations. Backyard Discovery requires minimum skill and rarely would you be frustrated. Handy Home Products requires a lot more skill and has the potential for heavy frustrations.
    If there is something I missed, please let me know in the comments.
    Best of luck on the shed project!

    Thank you so much for posting this video. I’ve been struggling to find clear and honest videos like this on RUclips. Too many building videos are overly glamorized or skip past the crucial details/steps that I need to know. I was leaning towards one shed before watching but this video helped me pick a much better option. So, thank you - you just saved me a lot of money and time! 😅

    So I was totally sold on the Backyard Discovery Shed Kit only to find out in 2023 they no longer sell sheds :( ... Any suggestions on other companies who sell kits the same as this, and I mean kits that have everything included, preassembled panels, included pre cut shingles, I mean this was the perfect kit, wish they still made them.

    I have a shed already that someone built for me for a good price. But if I didn't, I'd definitely look into the Backyard Discovery shed. You can tell they really do care about the quality and making it easy to build. Great Job!

    Bought a backyard products llc shed that was very similar to the handy home. Had to build wall and floor frames and it was a lot of work, however the package I purchased from Menards came with all materials I needed and I did find warped and twisted 2 X 3's the retailer exchanged for me for free. Started Saturday May 26th working mostly alone and finished today May 30th. If I had help, this would have been done in 2 days. I am a novice and this was my first big build. I would not want to do it again, though.

    Terrific Video... I'm a roofing contractor and a customer paid me to assemble a 8 x 12 kit shed for him. He had started and very quickly realized him and his neighbor buddy were over there heads.
    I figured "how hard can it be? I'm no farmer, but I'm in constructions, and after all... It's a kit!" I don't remember the brand but it was from Home Depot or Lowe's. Me and one other guy (a skilled I should add) took TWO FULL DAYS (we're talking 8 hr days) and we had a framing nail-er and other pro-tools. On day three the shed was fully assembled, but I brought one of my Mexican roof techs to do the roof. It was a very very difficult task. Unless you have real construction experience and have tools, don't even dream of it. If I had to buy a shed, I'd get the one this dude showed in this video.

    I recently got a shed like the Handy Home in 10x12, but there was a major price difference than say a Tuff Shed from HD. I paid for the install and actually brought my own 3/4 PT decking. Looks like it should get the job done. I notice the design shortcuts, but I’m sure the price reflects it.

    The 8x8 ft. Ready shed from backyard discovery is shown with a price of $1699.00 which is more than twice the cost of the other shed. Not sure if shipping is included in that price or if it's even still available. They say they are having problems with delivering their products. Again for that price I can build a 12x12 or bigger shed from scratch.

    I prefer to scratch build but if I was going to buy a kit, to me the whole point is that everything is included and I don't have to cut or measure anything. So I definitely would go for the first one. If you go for the 2nd you may as well just scratch build really.

    nice review, very well configuration of how to put together junk lmao,
    I haven't priced either one of these sheds yet I'm in the market and it's the exact size I'm looking for and I've been watching all the videos on RUclips but one thing I do need to point out which I really think was a big No-No the discovery the better shed yes but it did not come with pre-cut pieces of tar paper for the roof you can't just lay shingles on would like that it's never going to last and it's certainly not going to water is going to get underneath there and ruin the wood. Didn't need it needs tar paper other than that it looks like a pretty pretty well made kit thank you for the video

    • @daboo123
      @daboo123 5 лет назад

      I'm a professional builder. For a garage I recommend a 3-4 inch slab with re-bar set in a grid pattern spaced at least 2 ft by 2 ft.
      You will also want the perimeter of the slab to be about 10 inches deep by about 6 inches wide to act as a footing to support the walls of your shed. Also add an extra row of re-bar around the edges.

    The biggest complaint I have about most of these kits (both of these brands included) is that they use OSB. I would much rather see them use plywood, which is a lot stronger and will last much longer as well. I do realize the price difference between OSB and plywood, but quality usually commands a higher price.

    • @RW4X4X3006
      @RW4X4X3006 5 лет назад

      They sure sell them at a plywood price!

    • @Beandiptheredneck
      @Beandiptheredneck 5 лет назад

      PaganWizard it’s actually smart board. It’s an osb based product with an exterior primer/paint on the outside. It stays flatter than plywood and lasts for years as long as you don’t leave exposed edges. Nothing wrong with osb anyways as long as it’s used properly

    • @airgliderz
      @airgliderz 4 года назад

      Wrong, osb is better. Obviously you know nothing about good construction.

    I've been thinking about buying a shed kit for my father, who is a retired carpenter. He keeps all his tools, power tools, supplies, etc. either in an exposed carport or in his minivan. I wanted to give him a shed that could be his workshop; it would probably have to be larger than 8x8. Do any of these kits have large opening doors on both ends? Or both sides? Do any offer any roof overhang? (We get rain and snow here). We know a commerical contractor that works on school roofs, and has used us in the past to get rid of roofing rubber. (We use it to cover outbuildings and equipment; it's heavy sheets of rubber) Could shed-kits like this allow for sheets of rubber on the roof before adding shingles/metal/corrugated roofing?

    • @AdamDIY
      @AdamDIY  5 лет назад

      Sounds like you have some great ideas. The bigger the better when it comes to a workshop shed and I love the door idea on front and back but I can't recall a shed with one. I don't see why the rubber underlay would not work! Sounds like another great idea. You may just have to search around online for a shed that is as close to your requirements as possible and then modify it per your specifications. I wish you luck!

    If you can measure and use a saw these can be built for less than half with better materials. T-111 siding is way better than the masonite crap they use. In my area you can get a good Amish built shed for that kind of money.

    • @petehendi1239
      @petehendi1239 5 лет назад +1

      "If you can measure and use a saw." Ya... but those are pretty big "ifs" for a large percentage of the population. Heck I'm a roofing contractor, and I would not dare try to build a shed totally from scratch. Except for the roof, which would be awesome, mine would look like crap! :-)

      Thank you Ryan for releasing a great product as this [ Check Details Here?> *WoodBlueprints. Com* ]. Most of the plans I have imagined in my mind are put down on your woodworking plans. This is more like a genius job. I love it!?

      An outfit markets a shed you can slam together hassle free on a weekend, and it puts them out of business. Sounds about right, eh.
