Thanks for sharing this I’ve been going up here for years and I’ve often wondered what the nice twisty track with tyres around it was for I’d of loved to see this they should bring it back again it looks great
How bloody good was that! I marshaled at Baitings around the same time. I even "Ran" the hill in my 998cc Mini Cooper, during mid day break of course. I remember a "Reverand" from Rochdale used to qualify then back to church and return to "run the hill". remember him? Thanks for the videos... and say hello to the daft Labradore :-)
Oh now you’re talking! I remember a BDA Escort Mexico that was blisteringly fast! I remember watching a scooter bash up there as well, mega fun. Had my 19th and 20th birthdays up at the New Inn just at the top. Was full of racing memorabilia 🙌🏻
@djh1970dh It would make for a great spectacle so long as the E cars don't rock up and break all the records. You can't beat watching an XR3i razzing up a hill with the valves ready blow at 7000rpm 😮
Hey awesome footage. Would I be able to use some extracts in a project I'm working on which related to a crime that occurred in the area around the same time this footage was taken?
@@MrDazP1adv3ntures thanks a lot, I really appreciate that. The video will be posted to my channel on RUclips, and I'll be sure to let you know when it's up.
Was that the reverend Rupert Jones Ken? I used to date his daughter. He signed &gave me one of his books 'the Himalayan minor'. I also raced bikes here. Good days.

Yes I totally agree Mark. It was a cracking day out, they raced all kinds up here , cars scooters, you name it.

I have some scooter racing videos too.
My mates were all part of Rochdale mashers
They are a great spectacle Ken. I am not sure if this still takes place any more at Baitings.
Knowldale car club used to run this I think? I remember being there that day and many others.
Used to love it.
Good times Dave, it was loud, always a bit mad and the smell of oil n' petrol....
Absolutely. Wish it would come back, fantastic times.

Good old days Paul
Nice trip down memory lane. Does it still take place?
I have no idea. I cycle around there a lot but never see any events on.
