I just bought the Antelope Gore with 3 ounce overfill. My other is a Megalite. I’m in British Columbia. Your reviews affected my choices and I’ve never been more impressed. I’m 71 and spend most of my time in the backcountry.
I own the Antelope in 6`6 length with GWS and I really can stuff this giant piece of heater also into the Sea To Summit medium event stuffsack with no problems! 😁👍
I just bought the Western Mountaineering puma MF. -25 seemed a bit warm but i sleep cold. So I will be using it more like a quilt. Can't think of anywhere I camp that is -25. Either way I am very happy with it. We own two Antelope MF and one Antelope GW. I have been in places where the Antelope was not warm enough for me and that was at 10 degrees.
If the Antelope isn't warm enough at 10ºF, it sounds like you sleep cold. For -25ºF, try north MN, MI, ND, MT, WY, ID, Yellowstone. Plenty of chances to freeze in these places.
Hi Aaron, thank you for your amazing reviews. I pulled the trigger on the Antelope. My question is, I am usually a sidesleeper, but change sides. Does the zipper impact you from sleeping on it, that is can it be felt if it is slept on it? I guess the baffle helps this...
@@ALinsdau I got the sleeping bag last week and indeed, it has a super high built quality! I did like the cushioning, the quality of the material and the mix of materials used. Definitely a good investment, with the only disadvantage, the price of approx. 850EUR.
Good to note, thanks. The product page shows 5ºF (-15ºC). I've taken it way below 13ºF (-11ºC) and been totally comfortable, though I'm a warm sleeper.
T Comfort rating for bags are in WM website FAQ's, under "how accurate are WM temperature ratings?". Antelope MF T Comfort listed as 13f. Antelope GWS T Comfort listed as 10f. I hope this answers the question.
Thank you for your video. Also, a quick question. What model year is your bag? I'm looking at buying this bag but don't know if it's an older or newer model but it's color scheme matches yours. I'm unsure if tWM ever updates their bags so thought I would ask. Thank you for your time.
i started wild camping about a year ago and i prefare winter camps than any other season and my sleeping bag what i bought takes me down to --0 degrees so i have just bought a sea to summit bag and it says it can take me down to --10 degrees so i bought a nice thick fleece sleeping bag liner i haven,t tryed it yet but i have been down to --5 degrees below in my old one and i was a little cold so can,t wait to try my new one but when you was saying you like to put your head inside the sleeping bag well i have allways been told not to do that because your breath can freeze and make you colder is this true because i done that once and i was cold
@@ALinsdau yes i will thanx but is that right what i was told don,t put your head inside even if your cold because it can make you colder or put your head inside like you said on your video🤔 im confused which is it
Hey there, I’m looking at buying a WM bag. I will be using it hunting soon could be in bad weather. How water resistant is the MF? Just trying to decide weather to go MF or gws? Obviously I will be in a tent and will have it in my pack in a roll too dry bag. Do you think the MF would be good enough?
Great review! I’m thinking of Puma but not sure if Gore or MF. They say Gore is if you sleep without a tent otherwise MF. I always use tent and if I ever leave without a tent I can bring a bivy. Are there any other benefits to getting Gore in my case?
The Gore give you more flexibility if you need to use the bag in semi-wet conditions, plus when you get steamy and moist in your bivy, you will get wet and it'll penetrate the bag. I've had the surface of both be soaked from respiration, so it's something to consider.
Hey Al. I have the ultralight from wm but its simply too narrow for me. Im 6,2 and about 180 pounds. Do you think the extra 3 inches from the antelope will make a difference?
Would this be good enough for Scandinavian winters or should I upgrade to the Western Mountaineering Lynx? Would it be overkill to get the Antelope in Gore Windstopper, with a view to buying something that will last a long time? If I am making that kind of investment I would want it to last.
A ~0ºF bag wouldn't be a good candidate for a Scandinavian winter. They're quite cold. Find out where you're going and what the average/extreme low temp is and make the choice from there.
Hi Al! Do you think this sleeping bag could be good option for 6000-7000m peaks? Like Aconcagua, Lenin Peak. Im not sure if -15C comfort usually its enough, some high camps will be -20C or -25 inside the tent, so maybe with a down jacket will be fine? In M size do you think will have room for down jacket? Any 700-800g total weight down jacket can you recomend me? I like the XP shell because probably in the tent will have freeze condensation.. Thanks a lot for the feedback!!

I never really notice the zipper. The tough part is flipping the whole bag back and forth.
I made a video to help answer your question:

I'm confused, what exactly did you not like? The "What I don't like" section is you demonstrating to how to stuff and store the bag correctly.

Appreciate it!
Thanks for the review, I just watched your video and purchased an Antelope GWS. :-)

@@ALinsdau any issues with moisture freezing in the bag and if so do you think the gws fabric would traps more moisture than mf?
Thank-you, Aaron! BTW Western Mountaineering site now states Antelope MF as having T comfort temp of 13°F (-11°C)

Some manufacturers post the data.

Great video! But you forgot to show me how lofty it is by standing on it.
I have a video coming out that shows the three different Western mountaineering bags and how lofty they are:

Tough question with a long answer. TL;DR: The GWS is the best for bad weather, esp. rain.
Can you compare the Antelope to the Versalite? Thanks.

Hydrophobic down or synthetic fill in the Smokies where I live or no go.

I'd go with a -20ºF Puma.
what is the warmest that a person could use this? 20-30-40?
It would be very warm at 30 degrees. However, if you fluff the down onto the back side, you can reduce the warmth of the bag by a bit.
@@ALinsdau is to better to by Apache MF for 30 degrees if I'm a cold sleeper?
WM should give you a percentage;)😊
A sponsorship would be great.
