So nostalgic, I'm 72 years and my memory goes back to when I was 17 yesterday old. Visited 1 time. I live in Washington DC, as o th bis was very refreshing to see.
I lived in Guayaguayare, I visited Icacos 1980, the sea was far out when the fire was low, when the fire coming back in you had fun for life, before the water catch up with you. Did you know that the soil is very good for growing peanuts. When I visited I had the opportunity to see that. Thank you for this i felt like I was in the car with you.well done.Watching from Trinidad. You and your wife just take me back, I am overwhelm👍👍👌👌😲😲
I grew up in Chinese village... just before LA Brea... and i don't recall ever visiting Icacos. I might have at a younger age, but I left Trinidad at 13 years old. Thanks for capturing some of Trinidad's beauty and culture ❤️
Yes. Brings back fond memories as my parents were born in cedros so i recall visjts to cedros bonasse village icacos columbus bay...donkey cart rides on coconut plantations decades ago🎉
I remember back in the 1970tys, right were you are standing, straight in the ocean were the light house, my friends and I we used to swim to the light house and dive out and swim back to land, Peter, Clyde, Michael, Boodoo, then their were Prat, RAT, Jassie, Breakay, Black's and his son, we used to have fun men most of them had fishing boat, we used to go down to Tacupica and back, my nick name were Dondi from MT Lambert, I left Trinidad in 1981, living in the US, bring back memories, good old days, from NYC
Hey Rajeev. Thank you for starting 2025 with this excellent video of Icacos 🏝️ The drive down there looks beautiful and peaceful with the trees on both sides of the road. And then the views got even better when you reached the end 🌅 It's such a different world in Icacos from the busy east/west corridor.
Beautiful video. I visited there around 2009. There were fishermen maintaining their equipment, because they already sold their fish for the day. Not many people there if I remember correctly. Beautiful place as was the whole South. Erin, Palo Seco, Rancho Quemado, and the towns on the way. The people are friendly ànd courteous. ❤🌞🙏🏼🇹🇹💯
Happy new year vibes, thanks for part 2. From your drone shots I didn't realise that icacos village was so small. No wonder the villagers have told me the new primary school can seat the entire village 😂. If you need to buy food it has to be in Bonass village and before 3pm. Yes the bridge is finished now. Where you turned right to the end is Constantine estate, I was there carnival Sunday 1993 and the overseers house was still there with the remnants of the pier, pelicans were perched on the remnants. Before the beach on the right was I think one of the smallest Catholic churches but they renovated it. Just after on the left is Ameena parlour and bar which I tell everyone is the last bar in tnt,the next bar is in Venezuela 😅😅😅. Laters
I always wanted to know more about that place on the island's big toe. I am pleasantly surprised to see it is more developed and populated than I imagined. Real country vibes - big up cow brigade! 😂
Another wonderful video . I will definitely be looking for your future videos . I wish the government will put a police station , in those remote areas . I visited Qui-nam beach many times .I cannot remember visiting Icacos. Beautiful view . Wonderful video , thank you ! 🇹🇹🇺🇸🇹🇹
I remember a video a few years ago made by a Trinidadian professor who was teaching at a University in Montreal. An elderly resident remembers a road that disappeared into the sea. When the professor donned his scuba gear, not only did he find the road, but there were lampposts still standing. So the road had sunk at least 30 feet. I believe the theme of the video was "Is Trinidad sinking"?. I am following your video from Davao City in the Philippines. Not many Trinis in this part of the world. Cheers
Happy New Year to you and your wife, it's a beautiful scenic drive but totally underdeveloped, alot of unutilised land space but beautiful nevertheless. I went there once when I was a child so I don't remember much about it. Stay blessed @Trinbago Vibes family 🤗😁🙌🙏👍
They still have a good bit of trees along that route and I believe a virus hampered our coconut industry here on the island, similar to the cocoa industry
I think the furthest I reach was Point Fortin or Buenos Ayres. Thanks for the Geography lesson, Rajeev. That road is narrow. You have to drive along the edge of the road, when you see incoming traffic. Someday, they will repitch the roads? 😅😅😅
Trinidad is truly beautiful. Sad violence has taken over.....I always want spend time in Trinidad. However, I since removed it from my bucket list. Luv from Grenada.
To live here, you'll have to own your own vehicle? Or is there taxies & buses that work there? I came there many years ago, but can't remember the area.
Unfortunately in these parts you’ll have to own or rent a vehicle, or look out for tours down in this area…I’m not sure if any buses work down on this side or how frequent is the taxi service
White guy from USA. My dream is to visit Trinidad but I understand i'd stick out sorely and it's not exactly the most tourism-oriented island. I think it's a shame Jamaica has such a global influence but nobody knows about Trinidad with it's own totally unique and just as fascinating culture.
@@TrinbagoVibes thanks friend! One more question ... Would you say Coconut is a common ingredient on the island, in such a way that it might be incorprated into foods or dishes in a way thats not immediately apparent ? ( baked goods, rice, flour, sauces, stewes etc.)
@ yeah we do use coconut milk in a few of our dishes and baked good…a fresh coconut bake and butter is simple but of of the best things to have and you’ll get a fresh coconut in a few spots around the island…mainly in the cities and town or any of the markets and farmers market
Even if you may sometimes feel differently about it, you really lucked out living in TnT. 💯 Icacos really looks like a proper getaway place from all the huzzle and buzzle from bigger city life. Once you are in need of a clearer head, come down to land's end. Since you also mentioned needing to pack some food before you drive into Icacos, there are some food places in Fullerton apparently. Furthermore, quick research shows there are far more places to stay in Cedros and Point Fortin than in Icacos, mostly guesthouses. Pretty sure most of them are run fairly competently. My only other concern would be border security, since Icacos is that close to the Venezuelan coast. Not so much regarding refugees, since many opted for leaving to Bolivia and Chile. Rather, the leadership over there threatening to violently annex Guyana, with TnT being that close to the potential action... How do you feel about that issue, Rajeev?
Boarder control may be iffy, I agree a nd honestly that’s a whole can of worms and too little being done by those in charge…but food wise you can get stuff before Columbus Bay
@@TrinbagoVibes Man, I hear you. Especially after reading about the SoE the country is currently experiencing, I wish for your state affairs to get in order again once the election is over.✌
I travelled down there just after Christmas. The water was really good. The police presence in the area is quite observable. So don't go down Icacos for any illegal reasons. You may end up in a cell.
Yes, but it is also where Trinis went to Venezuela illegally. I was born in Icacos and left for the States at 15. It was a very beautiful place. Fresh fish, meats, and great coconut water right off the tree. During the school vacation, the seawater was so clear, you could see your feet. I'm so homesick after seeing this video. Thank you so much!
"ICACOS" IS cocoplum in Spanish, what percentage of Trinidadians Speak Spanish!!? And Trinidadians must cook with coconut oil, if not they are missing out on delicious food.
Spanish is our official second language, however if I’ve to guess I would say probably 10% of the population speaks Spanish, especially with the influx of Venezuelans over the years
