Truly a wonder of the world. Little wonder, too, it took so long to build, as a kid I thought they would never finish it. Those of us old enough might well remember the controversy its construction caused, Australians divided on whether they thought it an eyesore or a thing of beauty. I think no Australian nowadays would think it an eyesore, but all would agree it is beautiful to behold. Thank you for the upload.

I went to St Aloysius College just near the Bridge on the northern side as a boy in the 60s and early 70s. We used to play under the bridge and watch all the construction going on. There were always a number of artists who would sit in the park with their easels and paint the SOH under construction. We thought it would never be finished in those days. It must have been fascinating for the boys of the late 20s and early 30s who witnessed the construction of the Bridge as well.

Remember Crowded house playing their farewell gig on the steps of the Opera house?
I remember them playing at the music bowl in Melbourne I was in the pioneers women's garden LISTENING.
    I could see the G.
I wrote a email to crowded house.
I heard them screaming about marijuana and the whole crowd gave it what sounded like a standing ovation.
That was some distance from the music bowl.
Then crowded house screamed out about SPEED.
The kids were about and that was quite clear a distance from the music bowl. The SPEED ON THE ROAD YEAH. 🧐🥇🧐

Hi Simon. No credits on the film. I suspect that this is actually an unfinished production by the CFU. A lot of the later colour footage is used in another film we have (which I will post next week). There is also no narration but that may have been the original intention. This had never been transferred from the film components until recently and we have very little information on it. I think it was reworked into the other film and released as part of the Australia Colour Diary series.

Thanks for the reply, always curious about composers :) Great footage! You can see some 1965 Super8 colour footage of the Opera House in my channel.

To think the Siemen's revolving stage was never installed and then just dumped at sea.
