Lukhanyo Mdingi and I studied in the same University in the Fashion Design building at the same time, even though he was a year ahead of me and I’m saying this to show that I’m talking from experience!!! He is the one person that I can say like the whole fashion floor knew, even if some people would not admit it right now lol but we all knew it, from the lectures to the students, we all knew He was definitely gonna make it in the fashion industry. His work ethic, passion, focus and TALENT was unmatched. First one in and last one out every single day, I can remember the countless times I would walk past the btech classroom while I was doing my 3rd year and it was just him alone with his work in a dark room… over and over again lol he was the one constant in such a crazy environment but he was in his own world. Truly the Beyoncé of the whole fashion design department in CPUT!!! He deserves all the success that he has now and I pray that in a few years people will be referencing him like they do about people like Alexander McQueen, Yohji Yamamoto, e.t.c.
It's wonderful seeing all these vids of your South Africa visit. Rich Mnisi is another South African designer ahead of the game. Would love a vid on him.
Thanks! I know who Rich Mnisi is but haven't looked deeply into his work as of yet. Looking forward to learning more as from my understanding he has one of the biggest brands in SA.
WE GOT SO MANY WEIRD CREATIVE PEOPLE IN SA ITS BEAUTIFUL BUT WE DONT HAVE THE MONEY TO MAKE THESE HOUSES BIGGER THAN WHAT THEY ARE. THAT IS THE SADDEST THING ON EARTH!
Money is holding back a lot of the cultural sphere in SA, even the musical scene, Amapiano might be getting an international spotlight but there are so many genres of music that never got the proper spotlight because we don't quite have the money to properly sustain a lot of different musical scenes at a netional level.
Eh, woww, the way that mixed South African young lady was dressed, with her white socks & dresses, was clever and elegant. I close to never see young women dress that jazzy & classy, in a few cities, in N.C.. The South in America is supposed to have a little more unique elegance, than the North, but the Urban street, and sports' cultures have helped somewhat hinder a big number of young folks, (to where some of them don't wanna dress kinda more chic).
Really enjoy your channel, but you never mention the American designers, designers like HALSTON, Perry Ellis, Donna Karan and even the black designer Stephen Burrows, I mentioned the ones from the past that made contribution, I think American fashion has been very influential, a lot of new designers coming up in NY!
This is true! Must be a RUclips thing sometimes I forget what I’ve made for each platform. I’ve made videos on a lot of American designers on TikTok but now that I’m going through my RUclips catalogue I haven’t done much of that on RUclips. Definitely something to think about.
This video was so amazing. Is there anyway yoy could do a video on up and comimg designers globally (including Nigeria) to look out for. Thank you so much. Sioned
Good one, nice one coverage of fashion in South Africa, sorry but me being so very observant sadly😒to say I noticed again even in the year 2023 behind the scenes where's any talented hair stylist, makeup artists, model dresses & of course very important the actual fashion stylist of color especially those from areas in South Africa & surely beyond, truly that part nothing to do with content developer or & content,so thanks I appreciate on the one hand, however some of your comments about black people😮, might I interject a rather important thought here please🙄 this is where due diligence & thorough investigation of the other fashion designers in history could & should enter informative factual knowledge that actually would be well worth passing on🤔 Sadly 😥 there were way to many references towards what black people DON'T HAVE or Did Not have exposure to 'be careful' please 🤨
