Thank you for addressing this. As a son of a single mother, I was lucky to have 2 uncles and role models like Clint Eastwood, Steve McQueen and Bruce Lee to help mold and point me in a masculine direction. Serving in the military helped temper a stoic mindset. It greatly saddens me to see how optional fathers have become in the present day family dynamic. I've never been married and I have no children and it has always pissed me off seeing media and entertainment making Homer Simpson the model and staple of fathers in the modern household. I still don't buy Gillette razors (mainly because of my magnificent beard that Odin himself would be proud of) and I never drank Bud light beer anyway, and I was even prompted to be a MGTOW for 5 years. I still have a deep feeling of wanting to be father, mentor and provider to a family of my own but in the present day climate and ever approaching my expiration date ...I don't see that happening for me.

I was recently talking to a friend about media and nostalgia. Specifically that there have been a lot of movies and TV shows bringing back the 80s. And we’re starting to move into 90s nostalgia.
Every decade up till 2000 has been vividly unique. After that, it’s all been kind of bland. My argument was that the last 15 or 20 years we live online.
There is the yahoo chat room era. You have the MySpace era. You have the early Facebook period. You have pre and post smart phones.
2000-2010 and 2010-2020 are two decades that all blend together and don’t seem to have any real cultural stand outs (off line). At least not the way the 20s, the 40s, the 50s, the 60s, the 70s, the 80s, the 90s, really stood out. Each of these decades are incredibly unique to themselves.
But if we look online each decade very much has its standouts. That’s because we live online. Everything we do is online. It reminds me of the movie ready player one where the real world is ignored while the online space is vividly lived in.
And that makes sense with what this video is stating how we have lost all of our TV dads, but we have so many online dads

My favorite t.v. dad was Steven Douglas from 'My Three Sons'. Nobody does a quizzical face like Fred MacMurray. I've been watching those episodes again lately and my favorite is when little Chip who is about 8 has a 'clunky' neighborhood girl who is basically stalking him and hanging around outside the house. Chip is being really abrupt with her. Dad tells him he has to 'be nice' to her. Asking Chip, 'what is a gentleman?' To which Chip sulkily replies, 'a gentle man'. Then Steven has a pushy woman who tricks him into coming for a romantic dinner and seemingly is undeterred by his lack of interest in her. The four of them end up on something of a disastrous double date at a dance. When Chip sees how unhappy his dad is, he demands, 'now can we tell them to take get lost.' lol. The Steven sighs, 'yeah, now we can tell them to get lost.' I'm paraphrasing.

Great vid, well laid out and good points made! tbh I wrote below before completing the video, great minds lol. :)
I feel like the trajectory went from respected and trusted media dads in the 80s and 90s to complete imbeciles in the 2000s- seriously, think about the dad on modern family, the main male leads on king of queens, everybody loves raymond, the office, and so on. Nearly every male character of the last 25 years on tv has been somehow toxic or stupid. And now, removed all together. Life sometimes imitates art. I believe there has been a targeted attack on the entire concept of wholesome masculinity over the last 25-30 years in media. People complain about race swapping or gender swapping in movie remakes. But, what about the movies and television shows that keep male characters in them but make them idiots? 21 jump street, star wars reboot with complete burn out luke skywalker etc. Masculinity was never the problem. Narcissism and sociopathy were and are. And those concepts know no gender- despite popular opinion and outdated statistics.

tv show called emergency. i forget if she was a reporter or what her deal was, but she was a toxic feminist. the "anything men can do, women can do better" type. she was always being "put in a box" for her safety. and at one point she pushed it too far, ran into a burning building, and needed rescuing. by a man. or something like that. it's been a long time since i've seen it so i may be getting it confused.
anyway, she was not put in the safety box because she was a woman. it was never about her abilities or lack thereof. she simply wasn't trained to deal with the dangers. if she was a he, they would still designate a safety box.
but wait, there's more. opening doors? of course a woman can get it for herself. fighting fires? sure! so why was it that before the toxic feminists supplanted men it was more common and accepted for men to do these things? SO WOMEN DON'T HAVE TO. essentially, if a woman can land herself a chivalrous man, she has a willing servant. to a point of course. no self-respecting man will allow himself to be abused by her privilege.
of course a woman doesn't HAVE to refrain from certain things, no more than a man has to. i'm equally comfortable welding together a cake stand AND baking a cake to put on it. a woman should likewise be ALLOWED to discover that level of comfort in her endeavors, without judgment, even if she chooses welding exclusively. this is expression, not identity.
which takes me to the next step in this topic. i know there are a number of factors contributing to gender dysphoria, but if we treat each other with respect, support each other when we see someone being mistreated, and allow people to engage in ANY activity without gender discrimination, maybe there would be far less identity confusion.
at the VERY end you ask, what is a woman anyways? a woman is a human with XX chromosomes. a man is a human with XY chromosomes. THAT'S IT. the few humans that are born with some other chromosomal combination are the only ones that can truly choose how they want to identify.

@@nataliedepriest9113 I wouldn't know anything about Rachel Maddow.
Tucker Carlson gave me that view of himself. where do I start?
      *demeaning women in Our Military
*fear mongers daily, lies and twists facts worse than any host I've seen on any network
*excuses and defends actual white nationalists & echos their talking points
*was openly anti-muslim and just blatantly a racist.
what annoys me most is his performative bewildered face and the fact that he's constantly doing or saying things that are obviously not okay and then turns around and goes "this is just the left trying to silence me by calling me something awful!". He's like that little kid that pretends they aren't doing something they obviously are doing...
Stormfront (White nationalist movement) studies Carlson because he's what they consider an expert in arguing and delivering their talking points.
My favorite Tucker Carlson wholesome dad quotes:
"Immigrants make our country poorer and dirtier, and more divided."
"Iraq is a crappy place filled with a bunch of semi-literate primitive monkeys."
"I have zero sympathy for them or a culture where people don't use toilet paper or forks"
"I'm for getting along, I'm for 'color blindness' tolerance 100%, but when things radically change in your country it's okay for you to say "what is this?" and maybe I don't want to grow up in a country that looks nothing like the country I grew up in."
      Lastly, his 2 biggest fans.
      1) James Allsup(If you don't know him look him up)...but long story short he belongs to this group. ruclips.net/video/zcoYKuoiUrY/видео.html (If you have time watch the whole video)
He had this to say. "An example of someone engaging in very effective rhetoric is of course Tucker Carlson. Trucker is helping mainstream conservatives change the way they think about politics and causing a MASSIVE swath of trump voters to look deeper into many of the issues that we(white nationalists) already talk about it. The left is aware of what he's doing and...he's aware of what he's doing so it works phenomenally (chuckles)" ~ James Allsup
      2) David Duke - former Grand wizard Klansmen, endorsed Donald Trump while suggesting that Tucker Carlson be his VP saying "he doesn't use the word 'white' very often, but that's the underlying message that he's showing. and he shows that there is massive racism in america against white people, while at the same time saying there's no systemic racism..but people get the message." ~
I don't believe in guilt by association but he's guilty enough. His top writer was fired for being a racist, he was fired a year later for racist texts coming to light.
If it looks like a duck, walks like a duck...idk it might be a Platypus but there's a good chance it's a goddamn Duck.

Paul Seller have a huge channel if you consider the niche.
Here in Brazil Uncle Phill and Julius from Everybody hates Chris still very popular, especially Julius, because he acts like an old fashion poor/working class dad crazy about money. hahahaha
Unfortunaly Brazil have faced this same issue. Our main tv shows always was focused on woman ( Soap opera here is huge ), so the strong female protagonist is a thing since 70s in our TV, but always have dads on shows, we have a really popular show called The great family, that mains character was the Dad. I think one thing that shift is the political climate, because me as a Dad figured out that being a Dad is being a little conservative ( even if I see myself as lefty ), because as a dad you cannot be that liberal as you probably used to be, because this could be bad for your children. So I think the mainstream media now is so political that there is the fear of show more conservative views on some things.

My take on Tucker and this video : Tucker is trash. He is garbage. He is a terrible role model. But let’s look at this video objectively.
Bill Cosby was in this video quite a bit. Once upon a time he was America’s father in look where he is now.
The video simply states that he is a role model. Not a good one or a bad one. Just that he is one. While there are a lot of people with a negative opinion about him, the fact is, there are a lot of people who like him and are fans of his.
Regardless of someone’s opinions about Tucker, the simple fact is, (for those who watched Fox) he was a role model. He was on tv daily. He was is a lot of homes on a regular bases. God or bad is certainly debatable. No matter where that debate goes, it’s undeniable that he had a strong presence in a lot of homes. Like him or not, he does fall into the category of role model.
Seeing him mentioned as a role model does make me nauseous. But more so, I appreciate the video being neutral and objective
It would be easy to omit Bill Cosby from the video because of what we know today. But there he is front and center because at the time of the show he was a good man and a great father. The same goes for Tucker. It would be easy to omit him for obvious reasons. But like all the other big news casters, he spent a lot of time in the American home and had a huge impact on society.
As much as I dislike the man, I respect the video for including him

The wealth inequality and ongoing pressure put on everyone by late stage capitalism has made it all but impossible to survive. Offshoring jobs is the fault of capitalism also, not some feminist conspiracy for destroying nuclear families, simply caused by corporate greed chasing cheap labor. Mens classic roles have been to be providers, which is more difficult than ever, and some men haven't adapted to be able to bring other positive aspects to a relationship, so they essentially bring nothing. Women actually have choices now, thanks to feminism, instead of women just having to live with whatever a man did, so they can divorce and support themselves. Your obvious insinuation that all single moms are "welfare queens" is an old out of touch sexist view, women are starting to out earn men in many fields. The good old days that you fantasize about in TV is an illusion, reality was abuse and neglect of children and wives in many situations. The bumbling dad trope is just TV showing the reality of many deadbeat dads, and I would argue is closer to reality than the Gary Stu, close to perfect dads, in the examples you gave. Looking to television for answers, with your obvious conservative bias being injected, is laughable.

I’m sorry you’ve been so brainwashed by the media. Your opinion is one I’ve come across many times. That social program I talked about literally had government agents go to the homes of single moms and give them a check to keep the father out of the home.
Your hatred of capitalism is a hatred of cronyism, globalism, and fascism. We have not had a capitalist society in decades. The social programs of LBJ was literally socialism.
I never insinuated that all single moms are welfare queens. I implied that feminism has made them believe they don’t need a man and their kids don’t need a father.
I have every right to share my opinions on my own channel, and I brought the receipts for my “conservative” viewpoint.
While first wave feminism had some respectable goals, the second wave and beyond has literally advocated for the “a woman needs a man like a fish needs a bicycle” position. The fact that you can’t see what this ideology has done to our society and our families is a product of the mockingbird media. And I feel sorry for you. Thanks for watching and for your comment. The engagement is always welcome.

@@mysocalledgenxlifeStop using words you don't understand, while claiming others are brainwashed. Which is rich since I could've sworn I was speaking to a pirate with all the talking points being parroted. Funny how you guys still have the red scare in you, and yet love Russia nowadays. Globalism is a direct cause of capitalism as well, as I said cheap labor is sought by capitalists to keep costs down, very basic economics. No idea how fascism plays into it, probably something about a global cabal? Keep classy and wear your tinfoil, you cant see past your own nose, and all the "research" you have done. Feminism taught women they don't need to stick around for horrible men, who there are plenty of. Everyone is lying in the media, the real truth is on newsmax! or the other laughable sources "receipts" you cite in your video. I'm sorry that actual proper studies, done by people who dedicate their lives to those fields, don't agree with your worldview. I know you've been told that all academics are brainwashed too though. Keep living in your outdated, fearful past fantasy world of oldies TV, or leave your conservative bubble, nobody really cares. Some things never change though, dragging you all kicking and screaming into the future while you are fixated on the past, is what the left has always had to do. Maybe your kids will get it, or more likely you will shove your ideals down their throats, until they go college and enjoy some freedom of thought, "indoctrination".

If you're relying on the government for material things as well as a sense of security, then you are living under a Communist government and you cannot become independent on your own
Most people just want to live their lives without someone telling them what to do and if you need to rely on the government for a handout for a majority of your life, then there's a problem.
You will just become a mindless drone that wishes they could break free of an abusive relationship with a control freak.
And don't get me started on how dads are screwed over at divorce courts. Our system is rigged against fathers who just want to raise a family and live a peaceful life.
