The part at 2:30 is perfect. The only issue I have is when the game abruptly changes between Book Betrayal and Dead Department (also great!) when entering the hallways!
Literally, I love both songs but I never get to listen to their best bits cus every time I get close I walk between the areas just a little and it cuts off 😭
You know at first I thought that this song doesn't fit at all with it being way too chill, way too smooth and way too baller but... third playthrough and I've come to accept that this is my absolute favourite song in the entire game. ThorHighHeels isn't just a fantastic RUclipsr who makes great videos but they're also a funkin fire musician.
I feel like the song isn't as out of place as you may have thought. Yes, the game is dark, but the Forbidden Archives seems to be a place of relaxation/enlightenment, hence the Enlightened Ones.
@@SackofDooDoo Okay so I'm a bit tired so I may miss some information, you may correct me if I'm wrong but: In one of the first maps you can enter you find these mummies missing their faces and brains, making them nothing more than empty husks of themselves. IIRC their leader led them all to ascend or something similar, leading to this exactly. So where may their faces and brains be? There's only one enemy afaik that is mostly just brain and face and they're in the Forbidden Archives. They are just as hostlie as their husks and I wouldn't call their existence positive. However unlike the husks they are presumably still able to think and feel emotions, which is kinda effed up if you think about it, we all probably slaughtered a bunch of them. The weirdest thing however is - and this one I'm not too sure about - that their leader is nowhere close. So have they been tricked by them? Or did they know what exactly was coming to them? Are they happy the way they are or do they hate what's become of them? In all honesty just them existing makes me feel uneasy, I may not have all the puzzle pieces but the ones that I do have just make me feel uncomfortable. Together with the song it's the level-equivalent of an upbeat song with a sad or dark undertone. And I kinda really like that.
You know, this area feels completely different from the rest of the game, just like ArchDragon Peak in DS3. While in DS3 every area is desolate, dark and devoid of any blooming life, ArchDragon Peak gives off a way nicer vibe, although there are plenty of hostile enemies. The area is covered in sunlight, with a clear sky, with nothing covering it. THIS area is pretty empty, but it feels so cozy, and at least we have Daedalus.
The contrast between the chill vibes and the silence that follows when you find that hidden corpse is extremely disturbing, exaggerated only by how pleasant these tunes are.
the area that made me love rock bridge and appreciate the games spells giving you utility also that one creepy room with the mummy and the silence after...
Got to this level for the first time last night while streaming to my friends. One of the them asked why I was in the Lo-Fi library 😂. I honestly adore this theme though, it’s nice a chill and give the library a very strange vibe.
Huh. Had no idea this track was a little divisive. I personally love it for this location. The library is, relatively speaking, a very safe place in the dungeon. The music seemed to be a nod to the idea/meme of "lofi beats to study to". Because... It's a library, geddit? I love this area in general, it's bright, cool, fun. Most of the NPCs are just friend-os if you let them be. Just happy big ole snails and living books just chillin' in contrast to the deeper areas of the library where everything is once again dangerous, hostile, dark, cramped, and the music switches up on you to reflect this.
First time I went it I saw horse heads…noped out of there since my weapons didn’t work..came back there with a silver rapier sliced up all the horses found the vampire sword and twisted staff i also lighted the fires of Prometheus and after that I knew the only thing they feared was *me!*
While I really like this song, I really don't like it in the Library. Until this point almost every track makes 50% of the atmosphere for every level and they harmonize perfectly. Then you get to the library and suddenly it all changes. Encountering Daedalus would've been way cooler if the music'd fit the level, but sadly it really does not, at least in my eyes. Not after a whole soundtrack of eerie, dark and depressing tracks.
that's the thing, the whole soundtrack can't be dark and depressing throughout or it would start to become repetitive and predictable. the library, it's denizens, and daedalus himself are all quite whimsical, and by this point in the game being met with a more upbeat reprieve is welcome and exciting. and it's not like thiis is the first time the game becomes sorta twee and whimsical, the first NPC you meet is an anime demon girl for god's sake.
The open parts of the library where this plays are mostly airy, bright, and _really_ chill. The Necronomicons and Milk Snails there don't even attack you unless you attack them first, if I recall.
Easy, i disabled the HUD from the settings and then started recording while the music was playing. Luckily this song is easy to know when it starts and ends, not like in the case of most of the songs in the game
I never expected a cool library level with such groovy lo-fi hip-hop music.
Library level is always the best
That's what you listen to when you're studying!

Love that someone else had the same journey with this song. Somehow it elevates the game to a whole new level of badass

I sort of thought the same until I realised I was in a library... with lo-fi beats to study to...
When 2:34 hits, I can't help but start grooving!
wish i could like this again. hearing this in-game legit broke my brain in a fascinating way I'm still unpacking

i love the room with the mummy because the "enlightened" enemies got my gears turning and the mummy just confirmed that theory
mummy? where?

Best track in the game, love this song.
this is such a bop

when THH name popped up i actually cried.
low key favorite
the best one so far
This is my favorite song and area of the game.
Best song in the game for sure

ment to post this on the video playing the mouth is wide song but it glitched
this slaps soooo hard
Love it
This song is so tight. If you put it at 1.25 speed it kinda sounds like 80s hip hop

How did you record these without hud and player model? Is it cropped out or did you disable it somehow?

Although I do like this track, I thought it clashed with the area and got a bit annoying constantly swapping between this and Dead Department.
UwU
The intro to this song is friggin perfect but the lofi kinda screws it…I still like it but what a switch up
