    Neat, my UI overhaul had 3 seconds of screen time :) That's 3 more than I've ever seen in any other foundry video.

    Dice so nice is one my faves! Seeing actual dice rolling across the screen and being able to edit how they look and behave depending on what you roll is amazing!

    I've been considering VTT's, and Foundry is one of the shortlisted ones. I'm liking what this showed off, thanks.

      I highly recommend Foundry. I have been using it since launch for my groups and we all love it. We prefer it to Fantasy Grounds and Roll20.
      I have it setup as a server that my players access via web page.

    • @mastermerion
      @mastermerion 3 года назад +1

      That I want a more in-depth video about! I wonder if the movement can be per token. Maybe this can be used to re-create the foundry patrol module, that is currently only on github, not the official repository.

    • @posterboi87
      @posterboi87 3 года назад +1

      @@mastermerion that is LITERALLY what I was thinking. Also if you threw token attacher, attach the "Hey wait!" Mod, patrols would be AMAZING. Freezing the game when your spotted. Add Triggler so they sound some kind of alarm! Lol 🤯🤯🤯

      There's a module for this but I can't remember what it's called. When you make the switch try searching "Loot" in the module search and you should find something

  • @maddnd9721
    @maddnd9721 3 года назад

    Hey thanks so much, a friend sent this to me and I really liked it.
    I really need to use all these modules you highlighted.
    I very much like Multilevel Tokens and some of it's associated modules, to bring more layers to maps.
    I can't even remember which mods do what by name but I am on a ForgeVTT account and they show the mods in order of popularity - I had already picked up half of the top ten on my own, through asking questions in the Foundry Discord, but the rest were pretty handy. To be able to ping, import characters with picture UI for abilities and weapons, and to be able to scroll through abilities in the top left screen have really helped.

      @@KoboldDM understood. I ask, because I'm having trouble setting up my customized vision rules.
      Superior vision is the only one that can see in total dark. 30ft monochrome. Dim light would be 30ft bright, 30ft mono.
      Darkvision is now low-light vision. No vision in total darkness. 60ft mono in dim light.
      Normal vision only gets 30ft mono in dim light.
      It doesn't seem like it is setup for 3 levels of vision.

    These VTT's are really cool, but when I watch people use them I feel zero immersion vs theatre of the mind. It feels like playing a complicated board game instead of an expansive imaginary story. Are there any tips for fixing this? Maybe only using maps during encounters and not exploration? IDK. I'm totally open to it, but I feel when I use these I feel like I'm immersed in a top down 2d legend of zelda overworld map instead of the story, almost like it shuts off my imagination.

    • @JackJohnson-zh9ul
      @JackJohnson-zh9ul 2 года назад +1

      Yeah when we play usually we only use maps for combat or other initiative tracked encounters. Although it can sometimes be nice to have a map for a city or town pcs are in .

      having a vtt in person on the tabletop, using fancy terrain tiles, etc. I love all those things.
      but nothing beats a marker and a battlemat.
      I remember the first time we used The vtt tools for line of sight. we used it while playing online. I absolutely hated it. My character was around a building, a dragon or something was on the other side of the building. I was dealing with whatever minions were by me, and I couldn't even see The other characters. So for everyone else's turn it was like I in personally was in a different room, not just my character was in a different room. The line of sight tools are amazing and they look great, but they take me out of the game in a bad way.
      think of it this way, we want to use those line of sight tools so we can't see what we can't see. but we're playing a game of make believe. I already have to pretend and imagine an awful lot of things. it's not really a big step for me to simply pretend that I can't see what's on the other side of the building while my friends are over there.

    Making a video about immersive modules and not showing the actual names of the UI modules presented is pretty un-immersive.
