West End ~ Thunder Feeds Triplets All Lined Up! W2 Self Feeding Attempt & W1 Gets PS Sprayed 4.12.24

- Akecheta is just finishing up on a feeding and WE2 has a piece of fish and starts to nibble on it. WE3 wants to nibble on it but WE2 takes it away. Watch out as WE1 gets up and heads towards the cave & at the same time WE3 is setting up to do a ps. Sure enough, WE3 does a huge ps and it flies over and off the nest but also sprays WE1 and gets on its feathers lol
Thunder flies in with a fish and the triplets line up to get fed! Everybirdie eats in this nest. WE3 was on the left, WE1 in the middle who got the most to eat in this feeding and WE2 closest to the cam. Check out those crops afterwards! There are multiple feedings throughout the day so every chick gets to have a full crop. Thank you for watching!

Nest info: Eaglets WE1, hatch 3/9 -3am; WE2, hatch 3/9 -7pm; WE3, 3/12 hatch by 4:10am; Thunder (F) 15 yrs old; Akecheta (M) (wing tag 61) 8 yrs old.
This eagle pair is a success story, part of a bald eagle restoration program started by the Institute for Wildlife Studies in 1980. Their nest has been active since 1991 and has been streaming live since 2005.
The West End Bald Eagle Cam is made possible through an educational partnership between Institute for Wildlife Studies, Montrose Settlements Program, Santa Catalina Island Conservancy, and Explore.org.

These are very well behaved eaglets. I see no bonking and they are well fed. The parents are doing a good job bringing up triplets.🥰

The beautiful eagles have been so well behaved. Only see a few instances of bonking the first week and Thunder soon stopped any more occurring. Just shows the difference experienced parents make😂😂😂

Unbelievable- I have never seen an eagle's nest that didn't have the edges built up more. Amazing.
I am impressed at how well these 3 eaglets get along. Aside from the 1st few days of bonking it is such a calm nest at feeding times and they are all eating well and growing. Though it was a tough start a couple of years ago with Akecheta, it turns out Thunder did choose a good mate. Looking forward to successful fledges.

These three eaglets are growing very fast and I love that they all get equal shares. I guess because they didn’t have as much bonking going on when they were tiny

I love this trio💕. They are so very cute. The problem I see in this nest is its size which for two adults and 3 growing up kids is getting smaller by the day.
I hope eaglet one is a big healthy female like Thunder. Although a loving, doting father like Chet would be super nice too. ❤❤❤
