Exactly her point. Her relationship was an intimate thing and her partner allowed the prying eyes to get between them. "They're watching us and hoping I'm not enough"
A calm, melancholic exterior with a strangely panic-inducing undertone, like a weird dream/nightmare. I’m definitely going to be thinking about this later.
This woman expresses a tenderness, a vulnerability, that this world does not understand, but needed so deeply. Thank you Twigs, for your expression. You have inspired young artists in ways you will never comprehend. The power of vulnerability everyone!
It breaks my heart that she showed her haters that they hurt her. She's too precious and shouldn't have given them a molecule of proof of how they hurt her.
I hope you know it wasn't Rob's fans attacking her and he did the cover interview of New Music Express in Sept 2015 where he called those women "demons," and did what he could to let them know he hated them for the way they tried to bully her. Twigs was attacked by Kristen Stewart fans, not Rob's fans. His ex has crazy fans who attack any woman he gets near, even his co-stars who he's never dated. There is no beef between Rob and Twigs. Rob says, "I''m on good terms with all my exes," and Twigs did a podcast with Julia Fox this year, 2023, where she said Rob is a sweet person and also Cellophane isn't about him. She said fans jump to a lot of wrong conclusions.
@a.madison9625 Cellophane is absolutely about her separation from Rob. It was made right after. The confusion is that the pain comes from Rob. It came from having a public relationship as a celebrity. Hence, the title of the song: "Cellophane." Their relationship is "all wrapped up in cellophane..." A thin, see-through plastic. People can analyze it and scrutinize because a lot of it is public.
@djhagrid300 thank you for speaking facts. The delusional fans can brush it under the carpet all they want. But at the end of the day, it's true that Rob fans attacked her relentlessly. And this song is a reflection of the racial harassment that she suffered from the fans and the pain of their relationship. Hate how people are still dismissing that it's about him
Okay, yeah the visuals are a masterpiece. But can we talk about how heartbreakingly beautiful the song is? My little cold heart can’t take this heavenly creature.
I also was thinking about the fact she fell into clay, was thinking they'd expound on that to show her being molded into something she wasn't but then the video ended 😭
absolutely mesmerising. so raw. such a talented woman. i come back to this video at least once a month. it actually breaks my heart that people only know this masterpiece from a “tiktok meme” and don’t actually get to appreciate how beautiful this is…it’s so sad seeing women’s pain being turned into a joke. love you, twigs.🇧🇷
This feels like a dagger to the heart because the story behind this whole album is so sad. She really loved Rob but everyone was so against them being together. His family wanted him to be with a conservative posh woman saying how they didn’t like twigs’ raunchy persona, his friends called her a “gold digger”, his fans were horrible to her and the constant bad vibes getting into something so personal can really ruin it. I feel so sad for her, she didn’t deserve this:/
It’s The Fluorescents - WHAT??? How did you know about his family and friends? What the fuck?? I hate him. Why didn’t defend her harder??... That’s so heartbreaking.
If his parents really said that then WTF. Robert has done tons of sexually explicit scenes. I really hope it’s not completely true because that would be nothing but racism and sexism.
Not sure where you get the "saviour" part. First of all, it wasn't Rob's fans attacking her and he did the cover interview of New Music Express in Sept 2015 where he called those women "demons," and did what he could to let them know he hated them for the way they tried to bully her. Twigs was attacked by Kristen Stewart fans, not Rob's fans. His ex has crazy fans who attack any woman he gets near, even his co-stars who he's never dated. There is no beef between Rob and Twigs. Andre leao I love Melanie but not really, she isn’t - she’s dream pop and they’re alternative folk pop rock (I just notice they have so many adjectives, lol ). She’s got a totally different to aura and essence to her than they do
I feel like the last sentence "I'm not enough" was the whole key of the album, like it was the answer to all her problems bc she spent so much time and energy to look for what was wrong with him and then with herself but there was a point where she started to act just like him (sad day) and here she finally went deeper and deeper, finding out which was the cause of all this pain, just the feeling of not being enough that was pushing her to always look for love in him, instead of herself (just my opinion)...this song just touches me in some many ways, I feel every word on my skind, it just so powerful... I'm so proud of FKA, she has alsaws been a warrior and she was so strong to be able to close this door, such an inspiration!
I found this song fall 2019. After a really bad break up. The whole drama surrounding her and RP is incredibly heartbreaking. I love this song, it’s always there when I need it and it’s such a beautiful video and song. I can’t thank you enough Twigs for putting your heart and soul into your craft- without you some of my hardest days would be even harder.
In my opinion, the video is about FKA twigs being in a relationship and her significant other not being able to see that others were trying to tear them apart. Then at the end of the song, if you notice she is so weak from the battle that she can barely utter these very telling words... “They’re waiting, they’re watching us, they’re hating, they’re hoping I’m not enough”. The point is, he allowed outsiders to attack and destroy a relationship between him and an angel. He fed her to the wolves (the haters), allowing them to sully and literally throw dirt on her. I saw this as her expressing her disappointment in her lover allowing her to fight and struggle for their love all on her own. Very sad and too familiar. I feel you Twigs.
her and shia le beouf , i heard she suffered alot of hateful, racist comments dating him. I don't think he fought hard enough for her. Shia LaBeouf and FKA Twigs' Relationship Is ''On Hold'' as He Spends Time With Mystery Woman
Atia Pakinson I was thinking of her relationship with Rob Pattinson. They were supposed to get married and the Twihards had a lot of awful and racist things to say about her.
@@Luna-ch9us you are right. Twigs suffered on a whole other level from the 3 yrs with Pattinson compared to the 9 months with Shia. Twihards are a whole other species. People didn't just spam her with insults about race and her appearance (apparently some people find goddesses "odd" looking?!) But people who didn't hate basically said her existence mattered - because of Robert Pattinson. The rest of us know he was the lucky one.
This song means a lot to me in so many ways. I was in a manipulative relationship for most of my teen years with an older guy who was very horrible to me... this song puts everything I feel about that relationship into words. Thanks, FKA twigs. Love you.
Y’all don’t be mad that she didn’t get a grammy; the Grammys are a literally joke. It’s a popularity fest. FKAs talent is far far beyond a stupid reward. A Grammy could simply not reward or describe the immense amount of talent she posses.
More like a rigged award show why do people treat grammy so highly when they literally are biased they can't even give ariana the awards she deserve hmp
Being talented is easy. You can be talented and still suck if you don't know what to do with it. She is an artist, a creative, hardworking, genuine artist. There are plenty like her out there, but not so many make it big in the industry.
This is so visually appealing and so raw emotionally. The lyrics she's singing are so... vulnerable. And Tahliah's voice is just beautiful. It sounds so much more resonant. I'm amazed. Not at all what I was expecting and I couldn't be happier.
words from the director @andrewthomashuang: "Cellophane is a three part Icarus tale about a dance-of-death striving toward unattainable perfection, the fall from grace and the vulnerability of putting yourself back together.” Personal interpretations are beautiful, but don’t forget to view the art with its intentional concept in mind! So in accordance with that, I think it was beautifully executed, and cannot thank her enough for willingly sharing her vision, vulnerability & strength.
grady - I know right. He did defend her.. but like it wasn’t enough. His fans are racist. They be hating on Twigs because they want Kristen Stewart back but it’s so obvious how they’re just masking their racism by using that excuse.
Baby Cat - ruclips.net/video/Vct9CyAp4LE/видео.html He didn’t really defend her.. Honestly, he was condemning it but he wasn’t like “stop attacking her”
Sadly stuff like that happens way too often in IR relationships. The partner of the more accepted, powerful group often does not (adequately) defend their other partner from attacks from his/her own group.

@@47oscarmanyeah ye she dances and does clothing and all other forms of art. She's an artist basically nothing to worship after the age of like 18, 20? Get real boi
As someone who does visual effects and film stuff as a hobby, this is one of the greatest music videos I have ever seen. The fact that this lost to Old Town Road is actually a joke. I even liked Old Town Road but damn.
Ok here's my interpretation. She comes out onto a stage to dance wearing a traditionally sexy/beautiful outfit, perfect curls, and makeup (unusual for Twigs who is usually dressed very much in her own unconventional style). That's because in a way, Twigs is giving the public the image exactly what they wanted from her this entire time: a perfect, feminine beauty that is there to give and entertain, just like the song's lyrics (they want to see us). Her past relationship was a highly publicized and scrutinized, and she's essentially putting on a show for everyone because that's what the media, papparazzi, online expected her to be. hence the pole dancing as a metaphor for putting on a provocative, alluring show for the public eye. Then, as the pole begins to warp, she tries harder and harder to keep up with it... I think the robot that comes up is her true self, odd, offbeat, and not so 'perfect' When she stomps into it to get rid of it, she loses balance and falls downwards. There you can see an arm trying to hold her (presumably her ex-lover) but she keeps falling and falling until she lands into a pit of mud. The word cellophane to me implies a packaged good, like sweets or chocolate, meant to be consumed. Celebrity relationships are a lot like that too - the line between personal and public is so distorted and their actual private life becomes a commodity to be consumed. I think that the pit of mud and the women crawling towards her are wearing masks to represent the vile anonymous online hate Twigs received. Finally, they managed to pull her down to their level, reducing her to the color of her skin aka the brown clay (her being a woman of color was a big reason behind the majority of her online abuse) Note their eye makeup is green too, like the color of envy. I love that she uses the masks to symbolize the deceitful nature of anonymity over the Internet... I feel like Twigs tried really really hard in her relationship despite all the eyes that were on her, but in the end she just could not become the puppet that the public eye wanted her to be for them. Eventually, this tore apart at her relationship and she had to let go and choose herself over her partner. It's a heartbreaking and intensely vulnerable song and video... oh also if you read this far you get a cookie
Your interpretation is so beautiful to read. Thank you for teaching me how to perceive this brilliant video. I hate to even call it a video because it's so deep, definitely art. Anyways, i appreciate hearing her story. Thanks for sharing it.
Inez Neal why would you call her a slut. Dancing on a pole is a form of art and representation of strength and what she is doing is literally art. You have literally no right to call her a slut. PLEASE look up the definition and rethink your vulgar ways of judging a person.
God this is... exactly it. How it feels when you try your best for someone in any relationship but you don't do it for them, no matter how hard they try. And when they don't do anything for you in return or even try to keep things going and you wonder why you aren't enough. Jesus, this is a spectacular portrayal. I just found out about her and this is now one of my favorite songs. Thanks for making such a beautiful and profound work of art!
This song speaks on so many levels: whether it be to a lover, to a friend, to a family member. A revelation of self discovery. A realization that you are enough but will always have a longing ❤

perfectly describes the vulnerability you feel after breaking up with someone very abusive and toxic. almost like you feel like everyone can see right through you "cellophane". I've felt this before.. and it's a heartbreaking and painful feeling.. thank you for this piece of art. ❤I love the ending laying in the dirt.. you feel used and at the same time useless.. discarded and forgotten. like you can never love again..
But it’s also symbolic of the healing process that happens after a breakup considering that the red mud looks similar to otjize. I don’t know if that’s what the creative team was going for, but it definitely adds more complexity and nuance to the rest of the video and song. It’s a hellish thing to go through, but you inevitably rise up from even the hardest of blows.
i kind of see this as a metaphor for not only love but work, passions, everything one gives their heart and soul for. once you reach the top you can have the fame, the applause, and the love of everyone around you, but once you reach your climax you have to fall somewhere. (you can fight it, but you'll fall anyways). it's inevitable. what twigs is showing us is that you have to accept this fall no matter what. falling is just what one needs - what we all need. you fall right into place and you start over again. you climb and you fall and you climb again. its an acceptance of fault... mistakes... doing your best and still ending up where you started. but its beautiful. its life. and no matter what, you keep going again.
It’s kind of a shame that this song is mostly known about through a meme because it’s actually amazing. A masterpiece even. The grief and pain of realizing that you’re still not enough for someone even after giving up so much for them is expressed so perfectly here.
Well, better than not being known. It's such a great song, and a meme that helps get it out there isn't a bad thing. It really is a masterpiece, especially in the context of the whole album.

The imagery in the video is amazing and tells the story of our quest to reach for the light but falling/failing in our attempt. Ik, the old town road video is awful as well
I know right anyone who is older than 2 years old could realise how much better this is than old town road this music video is so damn beautiful.
This was actually boring
This is one of the most gorgeous, vulnerable, artistic things I have ever seen in my life.
I can’t get enough of the sound her heels make in the beginning! It’s really cool.
This woman expresses a tenderness, a vulnerability, that this world does not understand, but needed so deeply. Thank you Twigs, for your expression. You have inspired young artists in ways you will never comprehend. The power of vulnerability everyone!

She didn’t win a Grammy, but she definitely won all of us.
Nope

She most certainly did win us all
This deserves and Oscar and a Grammy
That’s okay, karma comes back around. We shouldn’t have to pretend to be emotionless.
@djhagrid300 thank you for speaking facts. The delusional fans can brush it under the carpet all they want. But at the end of the day, it's true that Rob fans attacked her relentlessly. And this song is a reflection of the racial harassment that she suffered from the fans and the pain of their relationship. Hate how people are still dismissing that it's about him
Best to show then to hide it
Can't believe this was almost 4 and a half minutes long. It went like 30 seconds 😂
Feels like a much shorter song than it is!

It's the time compression caused by the pain.

I also was thinking about the fact she fell into clay, was thinking they'd expound on that to show her being molded into something she wasn't but then the video ended 😭

bucktoothed whore art
Aztre yeah there’s an article about it. I lost the link but I’m pretty sure you can find it. It’s so sad
This makes sense! Now I see why he got with Suki Waterhouse because her family is deemed as posh and elite. Crap! He lost a good one.
Poor girl🥺
If his parents really said that then WTF. Robert has done tons of sexually explicit scenes. I really hope it’s not completely true because that would be nothing but racism and sexism.

Not sure where you get the "saviour" part. First of all, it wasn't Rob's fans attacking her and he did the cover interview of New Music Express in Sept 2015 where he called those women "demons," and did what he could to let them know he hated them for the way they tried to bully her.

As someone who does visual effects and film stuff as a hobby, this is one of the greatest music videos I have ever seen. The fact that this lost to Old Town Road is actually a joke. I even liked Old Town Road but damn.
This song sounds extremely emotional and intimate, the fact that I'm slowly figuring what it's about... It's a masterpiece
This is an incredible analysis. Thank you so much for your eye opening interpretation 💛👏🏻

i kind of see this as a metaphor for not only love but work, passions, everything one gives their heart and soul for. once you reach the top you can have the fame, the applause, and the love of everyone around you, but once you reach your climax you have to fall somewhere.

From what I understand she made this track, envisioned the video involving pole dancing and trained for a year!!! Craft dedication!
aimee lawrence Holy shit. Training paid off! I can’t wait until I start my pole dance training. It’s truly an under appreciated art
I did read that ahe started out her career as a ballet dance..so that may have helped..jlo trained to use a stripper pole for her movie Hustlers but only for a month or so. A year would not be needed to learn.
@deborahhoopes9428 not to learn, but to excel, yes. Jlo danced the shite out that routine but she didn't possess what FKA Twigs did here with strength, control, and skill
The juxtaposition between the beautiful, quiet lyrics and the chaotic cinematography is honestly really well done. Beautiful wonderful song and video.
My sentiments exactly👌
Ultra Instinct Shaggy wow why are you so mad? this video obviously has many levels and just because you don’t see it doesn’t mean it’s not there. you’re not the almighty eye that gets to decide other people’s view of art. so calm down with the aggressive language buddy!
I totally agree
This better win some award.... PERIOD.
tjariusjinx it’s too deep sensual and spiritual for the superficial award world.
@@yoligoodi4663 agree
taste
Fka doesn't need an award, it's an insult for her career because she's free and independent.
Came for the dog, left with tears
I recommend her song tears in the club
spot on comment!

“Didn’t I do it for you” imagine a woman like that even daring to utter that question.....
The one and only... Robert Pattinson
Selfish people can make the most confident people feel and look like fools.
Gives me goosebumps every time she sings it
no one ever should.
@@farina7584 Exactly!!!
I’ve never been more inspired to workout. Her physique is STUNNING
I Know Right???
FKA TWIGS is pure human creativity at play. Her talent knows no bounds. She's flawless.
Anytime Twigs releases anything it gets my full undivided attention.
Reminder, set
this looks like one those dreams that terrify you but there’s also something so warm and familiar about it. absolutely beautiful
Да это сон, клиническая смерть, кома, смерть
yeah exactly what i was thinkin❤
Lol yeah tell that to the angel that came to smash😂 buddy was tryna get it in… scripture or rumor has it this is how jesus was born, mary being the fairest; the angel of the lord came to her, delivering gods seed with it, in order for him to not be a nephilim, the angel of the lord had to have some human dna with it that or being human size, or else jesus would be a giant, being said, angels are over 30 feet tall, so.. their seeds were also very large
Or it can be the opposite, something so familiar and normal in the moment, but later is genuinely terrifying to reflect on
you can hear the pain in twigs voice. i hope she’s doing better :(
they’re waiting and hoping im not enough is probably the most devastating closing line in an album
The fact that she learned pole for years just for this video is a mark of a true artist. She always delivers.
Bullshit, she learned it when she was 19 in London. She told it in an interview.
Papera Di Gomma no? she said that the “writing process of the song could only be fulfilled by learning how to pole dance”. she learned it for the song
She also pole dance in Fukk Sleep
@@chrisavenport6456 From what I remember/understand her saying on instagram after the release of the video was that she learned it because she always had a vision of this video and to fulfill that vision she had to gain A1 pole dance skills. So regardless if she's showcased it before her goal was to shoot this video art piece.
Everyone is right.
u must have a lot of hate in ur heart to think this woman is ugly
She looks like a sexy smurf
Opinions vary. I find her attractive, but I think you’re making a leap.
That's WHYYYYY they SAY she is. In their hearts, they know she isn't.
@@adamhonestyanddecency5054 ok but a decent human being wouldn’t objectify and insult her for being a victim of abuse
@Ew_u.farted Racist people... and it’s no laughing matter, friend. She’s long been a victim of racism, especially since she dates famous white men & is often ostracized & trolled by girls because of her sort of "nonconformist mannerisms & unconventional look." Did my homework.
