Farallons..Nineteenth-century sailors called them "the Devil's Teeth," in reference to their extreme hazard to navigation, and hundreds of shipwrecks, disasters, drownings, and deaths have occurred here. The sixth lighthouse on the West Coast was lit on Southeast Farallon Island in 1855. Love the area ...it's beautiful...!

I've been out there a few times unfortunately not for the shark diving, but my true desire and passion is to get in that cage and see a Great white.

In 1975 following the movie phenomenon that was JAWS I used to take charter clients out to see a large Great White I happily kept running into a 17' female off of San Clemente Island but you are so much cooler about not seeing something than many of my clients.

That's how Great White sharks get injured. They get stuck in the cage and sharks can't swim in reverse.

Not sure what company this is, but there is one company that has had horrible reviews.
Basically, the laws are such that the penipeds are protected, therefore the odds of actually seeing great white sharks are extremely rare.
These companies are not allowed therefore to chum the waters to attract the great white sharks.
Yet that's the whole purpose of the people PAYING to go and cage dive.
So it's really a false perception.
Basically these companies KNOW that they are not able to draw in the great white sharks by chum bait and blood to truly increase the odds of drawing great white sharks to them.
Therefore they are pretty much deceiving the people who are paying for a false pretense.
Then these companies try to cover up their deception by throwing out a little piece of rubber in the shape of a small seal.
Even if by a long shot a great white shark happened to be cruising the area at the exact same time they were there.
The shark wouldn't have any reason to stay there. It would just keep swimming off in search of the smell of real penipeds.
Bottom line, from what I've read from past customers online.
It's a KNOWN RIP OFF! Which the companies and captains know the real skinny on this scam.
The water is very murky too.
Better go down to Guadalupe Island with the company that takes people cage diving in clear water and are allowed to chum as much as possible to draw in the great white sharks. And they are plentiful down there.

they unfortunately prohibited cage diving in guadeloupe. was my life's dream to go there once. only spot worth it since the sharks are enormous and the water is crazy clean. hope they reverse that decision at some point.

Wife and I did this same adventure this past Saturday and most of us (10 out of 12 divers) were lucky enough to see at least one white shark whilst in the cage (average dive time is about 15 minutes, with the opportunity to go more than once, oxygen & time permitting). Most likely it was the same 2 or 3 sharks, circling the area, for a couple hours. We feel very fortunate the sharks honored us with a visit, knowing our odds were at best 50/50 of seeing a Great White in your 15-30 minutes underwater.

I live in San Jose and have never heard of Fallon Islands until I watched this. Too bad you cannot chum the water to attract great whites. OMG $1500 for just a 35 miles boat ride and not see sharks is a Bay Area rip-off for sure. I just returned from cage diving in Neptune Islands (Dec 7th) off South Australia and saw two great white sharks come close to the cage. The cost for a 3 hour one way boat ride including breakfast, lunch, fruits, tea-coffee and did two 40 mins dives was about $400 US . They are allowed to chum every 15 mins. Ofcourse, you got to get to Australia first though.......ruclips.net/video/1lYntnEr2X4/видео.html
